I don't think anyone can find fault with the effort. Our guys came ready to play, it wasn't their fault that Fort Valley was so overmatched.

Looks like Goldwire had a heck of a game 8 assists, 2 turnover, and 5 steals. Stanley and Joey as well.
Now onto Kansas! Hopefully our shooting doesn’t escape us on Tuesday!
Starting lineup was

The tone was set on defense, full court man and some trapping. Lots of turnovers created. Lots of off the turnovers, layups and dunks.
Hurt’s three was falling. It looked good. Tre still struggles from out there.
Baker came off the bench on a mission. Was like 5-6 from 3 at one point. Shot it with confidence.
Moore a lot better, played how we expected. Active in various ways, put back dunk, steals, rebounds, short pull up jumper and even knocked a three down from the corner.
Alex was disappointing in the first half. A couple of bad turnover.
Carey was great, posted up well like in the ctc scrimmage.
Overall a good showing. Alex much better in second half.
They handled an overmatched team the way it’s supposed to be done.
During the offseason I remember hearing a lot of talk about how we were going to have more balanced scoring this season and from looking at the game stats it looks like that might be the case because we had 7 players score in double figures and we had 5 other players score between 2-7 points. Also we had 14 players see time and 12 of them scored. The only 2 players that didn’t score were DeLaurier and Buckmire. I know it was just an exhibition game but hopefully we consistently have 5-7 players that score in double figures and we can consistently get some points from our bench this season.
Why in the world would we schedule Fort Valley State? I'm sure there is a good reason but from a "yep, this team will make us better" standpoint, I don't see it.
So, that’s 5 more years of Coach K coaching at Duke (if you didn’t catch that)!
Coach K always schedules our exhibition games against DII schools and like someone else mentioned probably because of the connection that Fort Valley State’s Head Coach has to Durham and meeting Coach K when he was a kid.
This is Dukes best press line up right now imo. I mentioned in the starting line up thread I could see it happening.
Goldwire is averaging atleast three steals in the two exhibitions and I think Tre is averaging two.
Looked good last night just think Duke needs to take the open three more. Alex and Moore are to passive when open from the arch .
Think Carey is still trying to find himself in the college stage but KU will show his skills against their bigs.

Well that was a fun game. Tre/Goldwire backcourt is disruptive! Looking forward to seeing them together a lot this year. Hurt can get buckets—-makes it look easy. Joey may be slow-footed, but loved seeing him light it up. Will definitely carve out a role on this team with shooting like that. Some great helpside D out of Stanley.
