I went back on YouTube and watched the OSU game. At around 45 seconds left in the game, Paolo missed a shot and there was a tie up/jump ball situation that went to OSU. At this time Williams was in the game. After the tie up, Williams was out the game and the lineup was Paolo, Keels,Moore, Baker and Roach.. Moore ended up guarding Liddell who made a shot over him. Williams at the time had 4 fouls but IMO should have been in the game at such a crucial part of the game.
I’m surprised my wife hasn’t asked me to take her to see it yet lol
It's better than the original imo. The songs are still great, but they toned down some of the cheesiness like the snapping, There was still snapping but far less. And the rumble was intense.

5) Did you think this was a good coaching decision? Please do explain with your expertise on how having our biggest guy and best rebounder on the bench up one point and on a free throw situation was in any way somewhat intelligent by Coach K……
6) I won’t even bring up K only played six guys all second half when spending the entire week talking about conditioning, fatigue, potential for injuries, rust, and the importance of not pushing it all at once because you can’t do that with conditioning…..and yet….he did everything he said not to do with the guys in the second half.
7) the break definitely slowed us down….we will be fine…I’m not even worried. But the coaching decisions at the end where just not good.
Thought Coach would go to the half court press after Duke went up by 3. The same move he made vs Zags. Terrible defense by Roach letting his guy go right when all of the help D was left. Duke did not deserve to win but there is no reason Mark wasn’t in to rebound the missed FT.

Not an excuse. I’m just saying we have to play at that intensity EVERY game or we will be in tight games that shouldn’t be tight and end up losing. I’d take a highly motivated team over talent with $) all day though. I’m not worried at all though. This team will be in the final four barring any injuries and Covid layoffs again….
This is a reoccurring theme for Duke basketball. In January the bench shortens and the offense is always easy to defensive game plan for. You have two legit bigs in Williams and Johns. I really do get yanking Williams at time he plays way to soft and does not show fundamentals for his size . Johns was never an offensive weapon and does what’s asked of him but like Williams lacks real offensive game.
right now Duke needs to establish who the pg is going forward. It’s not Keels and it’s not Roach . I didn’t expect Duke to win out but most the teams on the ACC are built like Miami. Duke gets two to three more losses I see them as a three. Just isn’t enough ranked opponents in the ACC who are even border line top 25.

I give them sweet 16. I don’t see a final four team . Offensive rebounding, getting lost on help defense and iso plays will catch up with them. That and the continued jacking up of jump shots.
Rebounding is my only concern since day 1…I don’t much get it. The turds could steal a game from us from what i saw against UVA. You know how they roll relentless over the back offensive rebounds galore bs.. That eggplant headed badcock ate them up. Ida just fouled the hell out of him every time he touched the ball lol
I agree. Things can improve for this team I just think at the point this team is who they are.
we had 50% more rebounds than Miami yet they had 11 more shots.....this game came down to TO's ...17-5...they were guard heavy yet we didn't pound away inside with our size and continued to shoot jump shots which played into their hands....as pointed out by many posters, this is the same team, different year that we've had for quite a few years...and the results are familiar too.
Last year K went to that switching pack-line defense for the ACC tournament and I thought it produced our two best defensive games of the year before Covid bite us. I wish we had developed those concepts this year. I love overplay, denial defense but it is so much more affective when you have a group together for more than 1-2 years. The way we play defense, we are going to get beat off the bounce and we are going to get beat backdoor putting our defense constantly into rotation. I think this REALLY gets exposed by guard oriented teams with multiple players who can go off the bounce. I see our ceiling at Elite 8 as is but I will be glad to be wrong.
I actually disagree with John not being an offensive weapon. Feels like we should give it to him down low more, is it just me or he almost always makes that hook shot? I’ve been very impressed with his play
I agree with Kirby. There was no reason to continue to pressure guards last night who were quicker than our guys. That's Miami's strength, their quickness, and we played right into their hands.
In my opinion I can understand a couple back doors, it comes with playing pressure defense, but if the guys can't adjust and react quicker to the back cut then they need to loosen up.
That and carelessness with the ball, especially Moore who for some reason reverted to freshman year Moore, cost us the game. Correctible, but what a lost opportunity to lose a home game in the weak ACC.

Yes but not all the time. He was frustrated against GT and smaller front courts . Not to mention Duke has the hardest time with the entry pass. Plus he’d have to stay in the game.
Charlie Moore's leadership will win them 3 or 4 games alone.
Maybe it's Covid rust, maybe not. I said Miami was a team that could cause us trouble and they did. With our lack of perimeter shooting and getting beat off the dribble we can be beaten by teams with experienced guards. Why isn't Baker and Blakes and John playing more? Our team is going to wear down and talented guys are going to sit on the bench. It's only one loss but we need to improve some things. We need to win at Wake. I may be overreacting to one loss, but we shouldn't lose to Miami at home. We are a young team, so getting Moore back to speed is a must.

This is what bothers me going forward against Wake, State and UNC. Or even experienced teams in the tourney. Moore will right the ship but depth will be needed. With this young team I have read K use the words,” we’re a tired team or they looked tired!” Both before the Covid pause and after. That’s not on the players there. You recruited ten players but you only play seven meaningful minutes sometimes. Given that no one could really stop more last night there was players on the bench to help give breaks. No ones asking them to score just come in and play defense . Roach couldn’t keep up with Moore at all.
K shouldn't use Covid fatigue as an excuse when he uses bench only sparingly. This is especially true in 2nd halves of games. OFC
I'm sorry but K comes up with excuses after excuses... They're older, we're young and inexperienced, covid, long breaks, etc. You're a hall of famer coach and have plenty of 4 and 5 stars. K went into the rabbit hole with one and dones and can't get out.

Every time I come back here to DI, I’m reminded why I don’t post on this board much anymore because all of the good posters don’t really post on this board anymore because there are so many wannabe coaches talking out of their a$$e$ when we lose and are nowhere to be seen when we’re winning.

You missed my point. My point was that most of the people that still post on this board ONLY post on this board when we’re playing bad or after we lose.

I mean, people were talking about us rolling through the ACC undefeated. We're one and one, with 2 tough games coming up. So people are going to be concerned. We can right the ship, but we have to do it quickly.

AGAIN my point was that most of the people that still post on this board ONLY post when we lose and rarely post when we’re playing good or we win, which it’s been like that for at least a couple of years now. Considering the caliber of posters that still post on this board, I’m not surprised that you don’t understand my point.
Duke has made a huge mistake hiring Scheyer for next year. The next coach absolutely should’ve come from this board.

We have two different forums here with DI and DBB with two different concepts of the way we can express ourselves on Duke basketball. We have a choice and that is good. I will do a better job of respecting all posters point of view concerning Duke basketball and other Duke athletics. K-oach-Q is right. I don't have to post here but I will when there is a topic I feel is of interest to me. This is a free board and as long as posters follow the guidelines they can voice their opinions. There is one thing that we all do have in common is we are Duke fans and Duke being successful is what we are desire. OFC
Classy insult my intelligence while inadvertently giving us an idea of yours My point is if one of the main reasons people go online is to complain then some people will go online only after a loss. I don’t know how else to phrase it
