I've always encouraged using your best players on special teams, but I think the new kickoff rules prevent many big returns. I don't think that I would risk a key player returning kickoffs. Starting at the 25 isn't bad
Yeah, Isaiah Fisher-Smith is one of several young DBs who stood out intermittently in spring ball, I thought. I liked Trent Broadnax and Cameron Bergeron a little more, though.Conor AS ALWAYS, MUCH APPRECIATED!! Wow, good thing we nabbed Jordan!!! I knew we lost multiple DB's, but didn't realize we were that thin in the secondary. Stinson does seem really quick (our KO return specialist too). I think he will do well. Any info on a kid I think returning, by the last name of Fisher-Smith?? Could he play DB?? He's been good on special teams. Conor thx again!

Thanks Conor! Sounds like we REALLY need to have minimum of injuries in secondary. Good to get your insight on Bergeron and Broadnax! I watched some tape of Nelson. He APPEARS to have decent quickness for his size, and nice maneuverability. We will simply have to see how his Ivy League experience transitions over to the ACC.well another grad transfer in
anthony nelson 6'2'' 250 lb wde/olb from harvard
will have 2 years of availability left
descent high school offers. the military academies plus a lot of high G5 offers. only P5 offer was washington st.
was rated a 79.83 on 247 comp board so borderline 3 star out of high school. short for de but in his interview he said thats where we want him.
One thing that is for sure is that our Ivy League transfers will get a whole lot more conditioning at Duke than they were used to, which should enhance the capabilities which induced Duke to offer them. We shall see. OFCI watched some tape of Nelson. He APPEARS to have decent quickness for his size, and nice maneuverability. It's nonetheless nice to get another body in the trenches. Speaking of bodies surf, your numbers breakdown underscores what Conor O'Neill noted earlier this week. Our biggest need remains in the secondary.
Coach Mike Elko appears to definitely be following the game plan of school pres.Vincent Price and AD Nina King. Staff is definitely focusing on kids with sound academics. That's important at Duke, and I think Elko has such confidence in the staff he's assembled for PLAYER DEVELOPMENT!!

Amen, and DI these kids are going to be "COACHED UP" so to speak, much better than under previous Duke staff!!One thing that is for sure is that our Ivy League transfers will get a whole lot more conditioning at Duke than they were used to, which should enhance the capabilities which induced Duke to offer them. Tremendous! I hope that he makes all acc or better at Duke. Where did he play. last year?huge get today
darius joiner fcs all american safety commits to duke today. great great get by the staff
We really seem to be taking steps to shore up a weakness in our defense: pass coverage.he played at western illinois last year.

The tweet has been deleted - what did it say?Pretty significant loss here -- the way it's worded makes me *think* it's an academics/admissions issue, but trying to lock that down.
Conor this is "significant" and quite disappointing. Morant looked like he had credentials to be a leader in the defensive backfield.Pretty significant loss here -- the way it's worded makes me *think* it's an academics/admissions issue, but trying to lock that down.
Wow! Seems like we would have done all our homework earlier. Oh well. OFCHeard back (quickly) from a source:
Morant isn't coming to Duke; was told an academic issue at Michigan popped up at the end.
Just curious. Why do you think Duke did not do its homework. Issue may not have arisen until very recently. My belief is that Duke is VERY thorough in these situations. Sometimes maybe too thorough. Thanks for letting us know. Any other nuggets you can share GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!! OFC

Just speculation on my part friend. I am sure other factors could have been at play. It's unusual I would say. Certainly something was overlooked on one end, perhaps by MU. OFCJust curious. Saw where Clemson and UNC had interest, but no offer. If either come up short on depth on OL, they may try to poach Reagan. Hope we can keep him, love his size! OFCFYI we got a 23 verbal this weekend.

Sounds good Conor!!!East Forsyth is one of the NC high schools I always say, "never a bad thing to get a football player from [insert school]."
Doesn't mean everybody who comes out of there is a guaranteed all-conference player, but their program is stable and wins consistently at the 4-A level (highest in the state). It's also about 10 minutes from my house, so a trip across town to see Brown at some point in the next several months should be in order.
