duke football news

Brandon Hill had some really good games at Duke in '19, and yes his loss had a big impact this year. We really missed him and could have used him at LB. Having him might have won us a couple more games. He was THAT good, and of course he opted out before the season started. I look for more transfers, and the future to further cloud before it gets better at Methodist Flats.

Has he signed with anyone yet or could he be coming back?

Kevin White's response is a MASSIVE INSULT to anyone WHO TRULY CARES about Duke Football. I certainly didnt expect an extension for Cut, and as you noted he did not receive one. Iron Dukes WOULD HAVE SLAMMED HIM for such a move.

White IMO, should have at least said something along the lines of "We need to see a better product on the field, our fans deserve it." David Cutcliffe is the most babied coach in all of college football. He can FURTHER RUN THE PROGRAM DOWNWARD between now and next year. Its only going to make the rebuilding job MORE DIFFICULT for his successor! Yes perhaps "EVENTUALLY."

I wish I could like this 1000x. It’s embarrassing to bring cut back, next year when we string together 1-2 wins let’s see what Kevin says

so damond philyaw johnson wr is taking advantage of the free year and leaving by portal. never panned out for us so hope he gets fresh start where ever he ends up

OVERRATED. Never able to really crack rotation at WR, and highly disappointing as KO Return Specialist this year. DPJ made some noise on basis of two KO returns for TDs in '19 at Wake. This landed him plenty of preseason accolades on various lists THIS SEASON, and dont know if he ever returned one past 30 yard line. No great loss. OFC

Hendon Hooker is transferring from Virginia Tech. I think that he is a fabulous player, and I believe that he will play in the NFL, perhaps as a Tight End. If he played at Duke, the team would be immediately competitive

I’m going to assume he has no interest in coming to Duke. Probably no interest from Duke staff in him coming to Duke.

Probably won't happen. Hooker is incredibly talented. If I were an NFL GM, I would let him know that I would draft him in the 5th round as an 'athlete'. I think that he would be a great Tight End.

Good they are going on with their futures or good they are escaping the future coming to our team, or both?

DI I cannot speak for surf, so I will give you my take. Neither of the two may feel they can DEVELOP more at Duke and/or may be tired of all the losing and likely internal issues at Duke.

As far as their readiness for the pros, I just cant see DJ making it. He fumbles too much, and his last two years were alright, but not near as impressive as his earlier years. Jackson wasnt even the best RB on the team this year- it was Mateo Durant.

Michael Carter, hard to say-a lot of upside there, but hes more a wait and see. However I cant blame Carter at this point, we just lost our db's coach, Chris Hampton who was only here one year.

Duke kicker Jack Driggers (kicker)has hit the transfer portal. Jack never really distinguished himself as a kicker for the Blue Devils. He wasnt a first unit guy. I remember he was handling kickoffs one game and had a couple go out of bounds. Thats a definite no-no, giving the opposition good field position. Certainly wish him luck elsewhere, and hope his leg gets stronger. OFC

I'm ready to see some guys coming our way through the portal: lots of opportunity to play right away, and get a degree or post grad degree from a prestigious school. C'mon down guys!

DB Marquise Waters headed to Texas Tech to close out his career under former Duke DB Coach Derek Jones. Interesting. Cant help but wonder about possible dissension this year over Duke letting Jones get away last offseason. Chris Hampton only lasted 1 year at Duke, and resigned to head back to Tulane. We have a lot of internal problems. @surfdevil I am sure will have more later-

Duke would be in the top 25 every year if the Administration would put the full court press on Luke Fickell from Cincinnati. He has the coaching ability of Urban Meyer, but he is loved by his players. It would take Krzyzewski money, but it would be a great investment with Krzyzewski results

so the athletic came out with their freshman all-american team and both porter wilson and graham barton made the second team.
FYI i had forgotten this jacob morganstern announced he is returning to texas tech for his free year. started 5 games as a lb for them this year.

Duke had no players on the ACC first team and only one, Rumph, on the second team. Reflective of where this team actually is compared to the others.

DL Derrick Tangelo to transfer portal today. Dominoes continue to fall.....Tangelo in on 40 tackles this year, and well over 100 in his Blue Devil career.SMH.... @surfdevil should have more later..
