***DUKE VS NORTH CAROLINA OFFICIAL GAMEDAY THREAD***

No press conference or highlights for me...I’ll be waiting on the update about Zion tomorrow! Praying for him! Definitely missed his energy tonight among other things! Injuries suck!

Bad game. UNC got stupidly lucky not even a minute in. Everyone except RJ and Cam played like garbage. Oh well, hope Zion is okay and on to the next one.

You have no room to call out anyone. It's obvious you don't have any kids. You shouldn't wish harm to anyone. You might want to start pulling for another team.
I have no kids that I know of. So I said it. It is what it is. I wish some of you were as quick to defend OUR players in here as you are theirs

Poor Zion. It’s mind boggling how much he means to this team, and unfortunately, it showed a huge problem that was exposed with the others.
I love this team, but Duke is too dependent on its stars. Our player development, no matter what some on here say, is very bad.
The holes scored easily, whereas it was a grind with us scoring. They moved the ball great, looked like we were tossing a medicine ball around.
I don’t question the effort. Javin gave it all he had, White too. But a problem is, our non stars are so clueless on offense.
Some fans don’t want to see some obvious flaws in our armor.

You’re right on the refs. The rest of your post I pretty much disagree with, though....besides the fact that UNC played very well.

You saying ‘we’ needed to step up is easier said than done. In the next game? The rest of the season? Yes, we do. But there’s a psychological edge that’s lost when your best player goes down like that.

I won’t say we lost solely because of no Zion, because it’s untrue. But we lost our mojo 30 seconds in. If you watched one of your brothers or best friends go down like that, do you feel you could take that out of the memory bank and just go on? I find it doubtful.

Now it’s time to start with the adjustments. The shock is still going to be real, but there’s also going to be a reality.
No it wasn't going to be easy, but it's what needed to happen and it didn't.

1/23 from Tre, Jack, AOC and Jordan Goldwire. Swapping out Zion for that. We need better offensive production from them, period.

Nah, no hard feelings from me anyway. Zion going out plus a loss to the heels... it ain’t a good day, we all say stuff we shouldn’t when we’re mad.
Coach K calling it a “mild sprain”...I’m getting killed right now for a tongue and cheek comment though lol. Guess only Trump can get away with comments like that lol

I totally agree with dukiejay you don’t just overcome what happened....it was easy to see...

Give them credit they played hard and tried..but more than anything emotionally we where deflated...we couldn’t recover..it was easy to see..we all where hoping for the best or the big push or adjustment from everyone but it wasn’t going to happen...

Hopefully good news about the knee. Zion’s return really the one and only thing I care about. We lose this game by 16 without Zion, And we didn’t play well, that should be proof to everyone how good this team is, not the opposite. Would have loved to see him get his revenge vs Cuse this weekend but I’ll settle for him embarrassing Big Luke in Chapel Hill.

Go back and read my posts. There's several on here that always defend our players and I'm one of them. Me and dbav might be the biggest homers on here.

Not only the team couldn’t over come that I don’t think K could either. I mean everything changes.

Most of the duke fans were deflated. I could only imagine the guys playing

Idk man I think my comment makes me a pretty big homer lol..no big deal though I can handle it

Glad to hear it’s nothing serious with Zion.

He walked off the court, wouldn’t of happened if he tore something. Then factoring in that his dad went to the locker room then came out to get his mom and they both went back - that kinda told me right there that it wasn’t serious. Honestly? He PROBABLY felt like he could return but wanted decision making help from parents to go along with medical staff. Probably all made the decision for him to sit out and see how he felt tomorrow, instead of risking further injury tonight.

That’s just my opinion on the situation anyway.

Poise...we lacked it when the injury occurred, at the end of the first half and to start the second. The score flatters the holes...4 mins, 2 either side of half time cost us the game. We played even outside of those lapses. Hard to swallow but cant get it back. Next game...and hopefully some players find their mojo

I didn’t see ACL so it’s somewhat good news

Not a tear or anything that sounds like it puts his future at risk.

We will be fine. We will regroup like we did after Tre went out with an injury and we will go to Syracuse and seek revenge for the loss they gave us! Hopefully we have Zion by the time we have to go to the nose dome to play the holes.

I don’t think we were exposed - just unprepared. We are still a good team without Zion, it just calls for a different gameplan. Coach K and staff prepared the team in practice for today’s game with Zion included. Taking out Zion throws the whole gameplan in the trash and everything gets re-arranged at a moments notice. That’s the tough part.

Yup, they did a great job last time. It was gonna be near impossible to do in game adjustments, but I firmly believe we'll win on Saturday.

Not a doctor. Not official. Based on what has been said already and visiting some of the same sites I frequented during Tre’s injury...timetable on this is 1-6 weeks. If they already are saying “mild” I’m going to say two weeks. amazing luck for Cuse they’re going to get us short handed again.

Gosh it is so frustrating seeing all these people being like “you still have so many other McDonald’s all Americans. That’s not an excuse as to why you lost.” I just don’t understand how people can’t understand that when you make a team you put pieces together that make them all fit. Like a puzzle. And when you lose a major piece like Zion unexpectedly it just doesn’t work. It affects everything. Yes we still had a ton of talent on the court but you can’t take a player out like that even with a bunch of other talent and expect it to all just be fine
