@ConorONeill @surfdevil any info reference 6-5; 300+ pound Tyler Steen? The OL from Vandy hit the portal this week:

"Steen's offers in high school included Duke, Cincinnati, Columbia, FIU, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Virginia and Wake Forest on his list of interests. He was the 247Sports Composite's No. 1,177 overall prospect, No. 112 offensive tackle and No. 180 player in Florida for the Class of 2018."

That's a big boy. And Duke blue is a slimming color. Go get him.

Cheers Smash!!!! I know Dr. Nina King and Elko are placing emphasis on ballers who are also good in the classroom. Like you said, he'll look good in Duke blue! We offered him in '18, and we're certainly a Vandy academic type school! Sign him up- and seems we're ALWAYS short on linemen!!! OFC

Meanwhile transfer Gary Smith (DL) in addition to receiving offer from UCLA, has secured offers from UVA and VA Tech...

OFC

No question the Duke administration waited a year too long. The COVID excuse was just that...other teams dealt with COVID but the Duke admin. decided it only hit Duke. As a result, we're losing all these transfers because we went through (another) lost year.

This is so true Lift, and it really can ALL be left at the feet of ex AD Kevin White. He loved Cut, and they were like a good ol' boy network. White could have gone out with a bang, pumping new blood into the football program.Instead he went right along with Cut's covid alibis...OFC

so it is being officially reported by news sources that he is coming on board. this is really a big bounce back for us. also seems to be some talk that spencer had signed with us and florida had to buy him out from his contract. i look at this as a net win. we still got a really good coach and some money from florida.

i really like this pick up. winner and state champ in sc. visited and was offered this weekend and BOOM he committed right away. he really liked coach elko and his vision forward for duke football. solid offers from uga, wva, kentucky and strong mid level offers from app, charlotte and marshall

okay some BIG news today. following the high school all star bowl season, vincent anthony has been moved by 247 all the way up to a 93 4 star and is now their #184 recruit in the nation. conor, i really hope that you can get rivals to review but they normally say no to re-checking duke ratings. BIG miss by them.
also it seems that elko is really trying to get gary smith to reconsider leaving. this would be huge for us if he comes back to play for duke next year. i have to think that seeing the defensive staff brought in plus the new strength coach has to really be showing these kids that duke is taking football seriously.

Smith would be quite a bonus to return. I counted him gone after offers from UCLA, UVA and VA TECH after his announcement to transfer. OFC

yeah he is really trying to keep gary but who knows? cant blame a kid if he goes somewhere that puts more than 15 thousand in the stands. does he want to spend his final years in a rebuild?

by the way there are lots of offers flying out right now for the 23 class. they are having several big visit weekends. per another site around 30 kids visiting this weekend. elko seems to be going for it.
Yes I have seen numerous offers on twitter for '23 class. Elko seems to be emphasizing relationships w/hs coaches, something which declined late in Cut era. OFC
