duke football news

Please let's not pick on each other. That sort of thing led me away from DI in the first place. The football thread drew me back.
RIGHT WILL....DI and KD are both good friends of mine, as I count you and everybody on our football board. I think ALL OF US quite honestly are still a little on edge from the last two-three years. Lets face it, watching our team in conference games has been like a root canal. Change cannot happen soon enough for me guys. To quote the recently departed, "Lets run to it, not run from it." Lol, OFC

No game for us tomorrow feels weird. However my enthusiasm level for the program has waned in last few years. We couldnt even make any of the last ACC 7 losses exciting. Ga Tech the lone exception. That was gifted away like the Charlotte loss. OFC

Duke should have had the next coach lined up...but if you still don't know, take your time. I hope that Duke finds a mad scientist who puts 3 QBs in the backfield simultaneously. Imagine the amateur versions of Lamar Jackson, Taysom Hill and Michael Vick all in the same backfield prepared to run or pass

I also believe you are right, Will. I stupidly took the bait and responded. My bad. If I could erase my self-righteous post, I would. Unfortunately, however, I must, and do, own it. OFC

I don't know why I thought of this, but I seem to recall that, several years ago, when Duke was actually winning, there was concern that Cut would bolt for Tennessee when the Vols' head coaching job was open. Anyone else remember that? Any details?

Will he was asked to return twice actually...

Nobody can ever accuse Cut of not being loyal, both to his players and to the school. However, his loyalty may well have been what led to his downfall, both at Duke and Ol’ Miss, when he wouldn’t replace underperforming assistant coaches.

I find it odd that there is complete silence regarding coaching interviews or candidates. What I find even more odd is that CBS' "Coaching Carousel" doesn't even list the Duke job! Akron's there, for Pete's sake, but not Duke. Are we really THAT irrelevant?
On the Insider, Conor O’Neil has information regarding who they’re interviewing and considering.

I did see that list. I guess I thought it was just one guy's opinion, not authoritative. Sorry. Has there been any follow-up? Have the interviews taken place? Any news? OFC

Surely there has to be a coach out there for Duke. Maybe they are waiting for the season to conclude to see all the availables. Don't think we are going to get an already established who is succesful. May have to throw the dice and take a chance.

I’m not sure about Elliott. Great pedigree, but this year, with less talented players than in past years (but still probably better than we usually get), his offense struggled. Would he be as effective with lesser talent?

Its a really good question Jeffrey a lot of Duke fans are asking tonite!

That's the way it's trending, indeed. Poindexter to UVA, so Duke wouldn't lose him to a division rival.

I know Duke interviewed Elliott on Sunday at his home; I don't know that he's a lock at this point.

In case anyone missed it today, an ex Blue Devil has emerged as a top contender as our next head coach;

I watched this guy play LB for Spurrier at Duke. Excellent player, student of the game!

OFC
Fake News. He wasn't on THE LIST! OFC.
Just kidding

Yeah, I mean who, in their right mind, would want a former NFL head coach and NFL offensive coordinator to come to Duke? We can do SO much better! OFC
