That statement is just another Cut attempt to blame his failures on the players. Cut also said: "One thing you can't do is start changing what you are doing every time something is not going well." That, in a nutshell, explains why things do not get any better. Opposing teams know ahead of time what we are doing. Moreover, if what you are doing does not work, why not at least TRY to find something that does? OFC

Plenty of payback for Duke to be motivated tomorrow:

Currently, Wake Forest is on a two-game win streak versus Duke and have outscored them by a 98-34 margin. 2018's meeting against Duke was Wake's largest victory against them in series history (59-7)

-This was taken from Game Notes for tomorrow's match-up.-

Well finally after the break its GAMEDAY! Today actually means season is 2/3rds over following our visit to Wake. Its Halloween weekend, and I expect nothing more than a House of Horrors for Duke. Wake seeks to go 8-0 for first time EVER and is a 16.5 favorite to do so.

Obviously Wake's offense is lighting it up averaging over 40 pts per game. Duke meanwhile scoring at home, is averaging 3.5 pts per game in ACC road games. Very scary, since that average includes games vs UNC and UVA- both atrocious defenses.

However like Wake, UNC & UVA can SCORE and both SMOTHERED DUKE. Because Wake's defense is poor (56 pts to Army last week) some think Duke can hang with Wake at least a while. Hmmm, it shouldnt matter in final analysis as qb Sam Hartman should get plenty of time to throw against our overrated
secondary.

Look for Duke to counter with a heavy dose of Durant runs and bubble screens. It will be interesting to see if Cutcliffe can come even close to breaking the 3 game losing streak or made any changes after 2 weeks off.

Interesting side note before closing.Deac coach Dave Claw-
son made references to Jake Bobo, Jake Marwede, Holmberg and Durant at this week's presser:He said Wake tried
to recruit ALL OF 'EM. Goes to show Wake recruits same type kids, but DEVELOPS PLAYERS better than us.

Sad losing trend continues today, Wake 62, Duke 17.. This game will force Nina King's hand at least in getting us a new coach. 4pm ACC NETWORK kickoff. OFC

Wow Hart, you didn't pull any punches with your prediction. I'll go with 45-17.

You know that the next to last paragraph of your message is what I have been saying all along. The quality of our players would suggest more success with some better training and teaching. Wake is not recruiting that much better than Duke. That and not whether we score a couple touchdowns in a losing effort should be the true measure of our coaches.

Thats a great post Lift!!! I enjoyed your insights! Yeah, hopefully I got carried away, but giving Hartman time to throw is an invitation to disaster. I just can't see our DL really threatening him. OFC

Lift you may hit that prediction! This is the most pitiful performance. Duke just got its first touchdown after 100 unanswered points dating back to Georgia Tech game.Cut should be fired TONIGHT!!! OFC

677 yards of offense for Wake. 315 yards for us. I can’t wait to read the pablum from Cut, about how “we all own this, we all have to do better and work harder on the fundamentals, but proud that no one has given up.” You know, the lines we’ve been reading almost every week over the last 3 years.

An amazing game. The Tar Heels have talent. No shame in losing at Notre Dame, but really should not give up more than 30 points. Mack Brown is a brilliant recruiter, but lacking on game day. Brian Kelly is unlikable, but a good coach. Fewer penalties and turnovers

Sure thought UNC would be better than 4-4 after 8 games. Most UNC fans I've talked to very disenchanted. OFC
Beyond disenchantment! My team has a head coach who does less with more. How do you let a slow running back to trot down the sideline for 91 yards??? Dave Clawson could take four days off per week, and have UNC at 8-0. Wait... he has Wake at 8-0?? Clawson would have UNC in the top five.

Nobody can match Mack's charm on the recruiting trail, and he surrounds himself with great assts. However you're right ged, Mack does tend to do "less with more." I honestly felt they were looking at an ACC TITLE GAME and 12-0 or 11-1 year. I had UNC as a legit playoff team high possibility. The irony is you referenced Clawson, and Brown is reduced to a spoiler's role vs the Deacs next week.

UNC will still go to a decent bowl, and Sam Howell is still an EXCELLENT QB. Howell has developed the savvy to run in proper opportunities. Its offset some of the weapons Howell lost off last year's team. Still as you noted ged, its a team with better than 4-4 talent. Losses to FSU and GT should not have happened.

UNC is still really strong at home. Really they should beat Wake from a talent standpoint. OFC

As for Duke, this ####show must end folks! 100 unanwered pts before a meaningless score yesterday????Cut's lost the team just like last year! My friend from Ben from "Bull City Coordinators" summed it up best after Wake game:

Looking at our players on the sideline, I thought their desperation and hopelessness was palpable. I felt so sorry for them. Cut's "system" has stripped them of their pride. Cut should be ashamed of what he has done to them.
DI EXACTLY!! Saddest looking sideline I have ever seen with the stubborn coach REFUSING to adapt to changing football schemes and philosophies,under- developing talent, retaining incompetent assts, etc, etc. Cut is ALL ABOUT HIMSELF. If he respected the players, their families and our school he would step down. OFC

And Cut’s postgame interview was exactly as I predicted. No quit, we need to work harder, blah blah blah. The killer is he used the quote I mentioned the other day about the definition of insanity. Yet he’s the poster child for it.
Right Lift!!!! All they're going to do is work harder on the same tired plays and schemes! OFC

Isn't it true that you don't need to decide on a redshirt until the end of the season?

I wonder if Diamont will be transferring after this season, considering the lack of development he's seeing with other players.

If Cut stays, why would Diamont stay?
I don't think we'll see Diamont take another snap at Duke. He should have already played this year at qb. In fact two freshmen have played MYSTERIOUSLY ahead of him. Why should he play for Cut.Btw, I am glad to see Cut getting heat over social media, he deserves it, collecting that 2.7 mil annually and cheating players and fans:

Tone by the tweeter is obviously a bit harsh. However I understand the frustration. The content is RIGHT ON POINT.Cut has taken the excitement out of the program.

It's obvious that nothing will be done before the end of this season.

Unfortunately, that means some more blowouts and empty stadiums at home.

That can't help with attracting the next coach, unless it's someone who really has a lot of confidence in himself.

If I'm Cutcliffe, I'm wondering, is it worse to get out now, making up an excuse such as health, or suffer through the rest of the season, making lame excuses every week of why his team fell flat again. I honestly don't know the answer to that question.

I just wish the season would be over. I can't see Cut coming back another year. One thing is for sure no matter what it's going to take some time before Duke football is respectful again. Right now the biggest concern for me is who is willing to come to Duke? It's not like there is a football Coach K hanging out somewhere just ready to take the job. Whoever it may be he is going to have to be patient and fans are also. I've heard the Coastal Carolina coach name come up but why come to Duke? There are jobs out there a lot more attractive to him than the Duke job that he can be succesful in right away. I do not have any idea what the future is for us in football. I don't think money is a problem I feel finding a coach is though. I understand how frustrated Duke football fans are. Tough situation we are in. OFC

FINALLY!!!! Cut takes a high hard one at today's presser about "job security."
