duke football news

Saw Sonny play for my beloved Redskins in person at DC Stadium on several occasions. His training habits (or lack thereof) did not impede his unrivaled skill at QB. He brought excitement to every game he played in. He needs to be cloned. OFC
Wish we could clone him at Duke. After all, we have THE GREAT "QB WHISPERER!!!!!" OFC

I don't have link but understand "The Athletic" a very trusted online source of college and pro sports, ranked the 130 college football programs. Devils came in at 110th, and they're BEHIND both ECU and Charlotte. OFC

Athlon Sports, whomever they are, has Duke all the way up at #95, just behind Buffalo and Western Michigan but well ahead of Charlotte and Kansas. According to them, we would be very competitive in the MEAC.

Brittain Brown former Duke RB- 78 YDS ON 13 CARRIES THIS WKND, A TD IN WHIPPING OF HAWAII. ALSO CAUGHT TWO BALLS-21 YDS. LEAVE THE HOUSE OF CUT AND FULLY DEVELOP! OFC

Hawaii is incredibly bad. I'm not much of a salesman, but I know that I could recruit competitive players to Hawaii. Particularly Hawaiian and Samoan linemen who weigh 300, yet move like cats.
On a side note, both lines for Nebraska are pathetic. It's hard to comprehend

Still it says something that Brown is the first team rb at UCLA, and his star power really has a chance to blossom. Guarantee you his position coach, training technique, etc have all improved at a much more football serious school! OFC

Cut blames last season's disastrous 2-9 record on Covid, a few injuries, and reduced practice time. But he conveniently ignores the fact that all 9 of the teams Duke lost to had to deal with the exact same problems. Of course, Cut does not place any of the blame on Duke's coaching. I mean, it must be textbook coaching to keep running an offense that produces a world record in turnovers. Right? Just saying. OFC

And some still insist on building a monument to him when he leaves. I Would have been perfectly fine with it, and endorsed it if he had ridden off into the sunset when Daniel Jones departed!

The covid excuse he makes, is never accompanied by him saying others had to deal with it too. There was apathy abound surrounding Duke football last year, and Cut did nothing to change it. OFC

Assuming no shocking turnaround this season that none of us predicts, the best I can say about Cut is he showed us the blueprint for being successful at Duke for the next coach to follow. I deeply appreciate the exciting years he gave us and just wish he could have ended 2 years ago on a higher note.

On a another note is the game this being televised
TOPPS to further answer your question, Spectrum cable is offering it live in some areas including my own. Think kickoff is about 59 hours away as I type this. Think I'm not a Duke Football Fanatic no matter how bad we are???

I see we had a few casualties with NFL cuts -
Joe Giles-Harris cut by Buffalo, Deon Jackson by Indy, Matt Skura by Miami and Mark Gilbert by the Steelers. I suspect Skura will sign with another team or end up on the practice squad, but I’m not sure about the others. Did I miss any?

Yes, Spectrum has it on the CBS Sports Network Channel (at least in Connecticut).

NOT BAD AT ALL MY FRIEND.... @surfdevil If memory serves, also a transfer qb from Texas A&M, although 49er staff expects a big year passing from the starter Reynolds if OL protects him.

I have no personal knowledge, but my friend is a high school coach in south Carolina. He thinks very highly of the Charlotte and Coastal Carolina coaches

I am sure Gilbert's horrible injury affected his speed. Disappointed for Giles-Harris, I always liked him at Duke.

Duke favorite tomorrow nite down to 6pts even. Down from 6.5, originally opened at 7.5. Wear a mask if you go tomorrow nite-Charlotte requiring. Saw surf's post yesterday- he's so right- they cleaned up in the transfer portal!!! Not only 8 from D-1 schools, but TWELVE overall!! OFC

Well its here, GAMEDAY 2021 for Duke Football as we hope to turn back the clock a few years and get back to playing WINNING DUKE FOOTBALL!! As we've said ALL OFF SEASON LONG, we're tired of poor play calling, pure giving up some games and enough turnovers to last a lifetime these last two seasons. Its all led to a 7-16 combined record. If the slide continues, I think Cut is gone one way or another.

Ok, lets get to Charlotte, on the road tonite, their first ACC HOME GAME EVER, and the 49ers are looking for their first win EVER over a P-5 program. I think Duke simply needs a CLEAN GAME to win: little or NO TURNOVERS, SOLID offensive execution, crisp tackling on defense, and be nice to force some turnovers.

Look for Duke to feed the ball to rb Mateo Durant early and often behind WHAT SHOULD BE an improved OL. This should be interspersed with some qb Gunnar Holmberg runs, and hopefully DOWNFIELD AND Vertical Routes to BOBO, CALHOUN, PANCOL AND OTHERS! OPEN UP THE PLAYBOOK!

I dont expect an easy game.3rd year coach Wil Healy has brought in 12 transfers (eight P5's) to go with 13 returning starters. They also feature a returning solid passer Chris Reynolds to go with standout WR returnee Victor Tucker. A sellout is expected. If you're headed to the game a mask is required. If you"re not, you can still see the game on CBS SPORTS NETWORK, if you're cable system offers. Duke is now again listed as a six and a half point favorite, and kickoff is 7pm. Duke 31, Charlotte 27 is my call.

Thanks Hart for the great preview. You might want to have your Shift key looked at though.

I think Duke does much better and see a 41-20 win. That doesn't mean I'm optimistic about the entire season, I just feel there is still a gap between the ACC and what Charlotte is used to.
