Other Games

You cherry-,picked one sentence from a multi-paragraph post in your laughably vain effort to save face and try to "win the argument."

Reassess my life? Powerful stuff Dear Abby. Could you possibly be more puerile and obtuse?

And your characterization of my deliberate explanation of my position as hedging myself is both inaccurate and intellectually lazy, both of which are staggeringly unsurprising given the source.

Please spare me any predictably fatuous response... you've proven your posts are no longer worthy of consideration.

Here endeth the lesson.
Put down the thesaurus, Roget. Love ya. 😘

After a Sweet Sixteen that had an average seed of 5.5 and change, the highest ever, I thought it would all even itself out in the Elite Eight. I thought we would see a Final Four of three 1 seeds and a 2, which would be the second lowest average seed ever after 2008's all #1's Final Four. Clearly UCLA wasn't super interested in that.

I did find myself rooting for Michigan (yuck) last night, because I wanted that Final Four. All year the talk, and rightly so, has been Gonzaga and Baylor and then everyone else, and as the year progressed Michigan entered that conversation as well. I thought a Gonzaga/Michigan Final Four match-up followed by a Gonzaga/Baylor national championship would have been the best and most fitting way to end the year. But Johnny Juzang said no.

And as far as the conversation that has turned the thread, Gonzaga is a terrific program and Mark Few is a really, really great coach. I like him a lot. But to contend that, even after a championship this year, he and his program are in a conversation with Duke is, to put it mildly, very reactionary. If he can tack in two or three more in the next ten or 15 years, that conversation should exist. Until then, as my daughters' favorite singer would say, you need to calm down.

UCLA became the 6th double digit seed to make the Final Four...WITHOUT googling, name the other 5? :)

VCU did it several years ago as the first First Four to Final Four squad.

During this UCLA run they have talked about an LSU team from the 80's, I'm not sure the year and I don't remember them.

Syracuse did it by beating UVA in 2016 I believe it was.

That's all I got right now.

Oh yeah, that Loyola team of 2018 in San Antonio (I was at that Final Four, so deduct points from me for missing that one).

Stop with the personal attacks please. Or this board is better off without you

Not that I am some guru. But, what does he add to that panel? Nada. I swear, it's like he's never seen a basketball at times. Thank God he doesn't call games. On that note, most of the play by play guys have been great during this tournament, btw.
True. So much better than the clowns at ESPN. I actually like vitale but Alexander McDonough are Mute worthy. I wish bilas would focus on the game more and not try to be spokesman for all things holy

The look on Charles’ face when he speaks is priceless. I don’t know if this is planned or if the other three just naturally think he’s a tool either way I’m entertained

Kenny looks bored with him, Ernie entertains him to a degree, and Chuck clearly ain't got time for Andy's bullshit. I think Seth or Clark needs to be with them next year. Andy is a worthless addition to that panel.

I miss Dickie V calling the Duke/Carolina games. It's a shame he no longer is allowed to do them, for whatever reason. Bilas, unlike most Duke fans, I enjoy. Can he be annoying? Oh yes. However, I think he brings a lot to the conversation. My favorite tandem nowadays is Nantz, Rafferty, and Hill. Those three are perfection calling the game. I also love Bill Walton calling the Pac-12. He is insane, but hilarious.

Fun drinking game. Every time Walton says “conference of champions” do a shot. You’d be plastered by the half

They 're wonderful, they are themselves, and bring great humility to the broadcast. "Grant Hill, Jim Nantz Coach K's Devils go MANTAMAN!!!!"

Watching the 2006 Gonzaga UCLA tournament game. Ton of talent on those teams. Adam Morrison's last game. UCLA was young but made 2 straight final fours. That Zags team was loaded; they should have won that game. UCLA was loaded too; with Farmar, Afflalo, Hollins, a Moute. Gonzaga up 13 at the half; how the heck did they lose this game?

Wonderful defensive basketball by Baylor in the first half - the double on the baseline and the quick help on the pick and rolls are great. Well balanced between stars and roles - Jims and Joes per Barkley..and he's right.

Baylor is for real. I'm cheering for UCLA but it seems like Baylor Gonzaga.

sensing a dip in the defensive intensity from Baylor...still a long way back for Houston though

Of the two, I thought this one had the chance to be a good game, but boy was Baylor impressive.

UCLA keeps taking down good teams. Alabama and Michigan. Of course tonight is a little different.
