Other Games

Georgia Tech definitely feels like a weak ACC champ, but loved Alvarado’s postgame interview. Happy for him.

It was a championship performance tonight. Fun to watch. But you are correct. It feels tainted. It would be impossible to play that hard on consecutive nights

Oh they earned it with their performance tonight. Just doesn't feel the same this year, obviously. On another note, Oregon State is about to steal a bid.

Duke probably has one loss too many to be selected. The Committee can point to the Quadrant 3 losses to Miami and Notre Dame. The TV people would love Duke playing in the First Four. There is a good chance that Duke will be among the reserve teams selected in case teams can't play. That would be even worse than an NIT selection

Duke's only chance is as a replacement team.

I thought that the win over Georgia Tech might become Quadrant 1 with the Yellow Jackets winning the ACC, but I see that Tech was 38 In the NET before the game. They'll probably jump to 32, but need 30 to be Quad 1

Yeah, I think if GT makes it 30, then that would definitely help Duke. I just don't see any shot of them getting in. The season ended on Thursday. I'd love to be wrong, but I just don't want to set myself up for the hope that truly isn't there.

Ucla and MSU should be a good one. Go Bruins. UCLA has their entire starting 5 back next year.
UCLA wins in overtime. UCLA plays BYU Saturday.

How do we not have a tournament thread? Nova up 7 at halftime over Baylor. Wow. Nova up 6 with 14 minutes left. Tied up now. Comon Nova. Baylor up 6 now. Baylor up 9.

Baylors defensive effort is a joy to watch - and knowing they are cold from 3 driving and dishing vs continuing to shoot them every trip, limiting the 3 to the last option. Been a great game to watch.

Is anyone else tired of hearing players say “dream come true”? For some reason, it annoys me

So close...a cold 3 streak does another team in yet again. ORU played well and more than matched a P5 team. I bet my Razorback buddy had a heart attack at the end!

I'm tired of hearing mid majors have a chip on their shoulder. Like it's Kentucky's fault you weren't a top 500 recruit. Syracuse down 10 to Houston. Cuse coming back!

I'm with you Chris. Seems it is the go to for announcers these days though. Becoming more over used than David vs Goliath.

..these games have been so low scoring.....no idea why but the under has to be the bet

I watched most of the Syracuse game and came away with 3 thoughts:

1. Buddy Boeheim looked more like our Joey Baker in this game. that made me feel better.
2. Why did Boeheim not play Edwards more? The guy reminded me of an early season Mark Williams. They needed something different and Boeheim stuck with what wasn't working. Dolecij is the same guy he was when he was a freshman. I guess older coaches trust what they know as opposed to taking chances.
3. Girard is a liability. He thinks he's a star. He's not at this level. He's no point guard, he's too small and slow to play man to man or the Syracuse zone defense, and he's too easily guarded. Coach K was right on him. He's just a specialist.

It is amazing that that Syracuse team made the sweet 16. There is probably not one pro on the roster. I was really hoping they would go further. Agree about Girard but he is just a soph. He could have a Buddy type breakout next year. He could really shoot it in high school. But he is slow.

The Pac 12 continues to impress. They seem to have fresh legs. They started late due to covid and are now in midseason form. I think that is why Georgia Tech closed strong

Alabama is going to lose this one due to free throws, going 11-25, and shooting 25% from the 3. Ouch.

Cannot shoot 25% from 3 and 44% from the line and expect to win - unbelievable that the PAC12 rolls on...maybe the fresh legs theory has some weight?
