OT: Sports trivia part 2.

Coach K talked about how special Battier was. What did Shane do in high school that showed how smart and unique he was?
It has nothing to do with sports

He was student body president. OFC
I’m not sure on this Sky. If he was, you’re up, but I am asking something he did his junior year. It’s one of the most impressive things I’ve ever heard in high school.

As a junior in high school, Battier gave the commencement speech to another high schools graduating seniors.

Sky, go on with the next question. You may have been right as well

I don't have anything. Whoever has one ready go ahead. OFC

Duke fb player late 70s I believe. Pretty sure he was tragically one of the 9/11 victims.

I think Laettner is correct. I think he hit an unbelievable percentage for a guy his size.

I can think of one really big shot he made:rolleyes:

That was my favorite 3 pointer ever made by a Dukie. Marshall's was right up there though. Loved me some Marshall and happy we are mentioning Laettners and other all time Dukie names. Here's what happens and I'm a part of it. As years go by and the great, great players that come in year after year the more we forget the great, great players of Dukie's of the past. Someone mentioned that Coach K said walker kessler reminded him of Laettner. The problem is that kessler may not know who Laettner is. It's getting close to 30 years now since Christian played. OFC

Staying with college basketball and the NCAA tournament what player holds the most career points with 407. Careful I had to look it up. OFC

Only three times has the AP National Player of the Year not led his team in scoring. Duke had two of those guys in Zion Williamson and Shane Battier (RJ was 22.63 ppg and Zion was 22.60 ppg, if we're being technical). Who was the other player to win AP POY without leading his team in scoring?

Not Michael Jordan or Jason Williams.

Williams was the leading scorer in 2001 when Battier was the NPOY, however. Williams won the award the next year - and he led the team in scoring, again.

The only other NPOY not from Duke or unc I remember is Joe Smith, but I'm pretty certain he was the leading scorer.

Not McMillen or Smith.

The list is getting narrowed (ACC, not Duke or UNC). If you know who the NPOY winners are, you only have a few to select from now.
