OT: Sports trivia part 2.

I thought Duncan could have won with a lower scoring average because of his defense.

Not quite. Wake wasn't exactly stacked with talent in 97. Loren Woods was the only other guy on the team that played in the NBA, and he was just one year removed from high school. Duncan was the heart and soul of that 97 team. Without him, they might have snuck into the NCAAs. With him, they were a top 10 team. He averaged 20.8 ppg and 14.7 rebounds as a senior.

Patrick Ewing (1985) and Anthony Davis (2012) were two guys that had less offense, and maybe a little more of the defensive element. Both of them averaged below 15 ppg - still led their respective teams in scoring, however.

Another guess just popped into my mind, since I don't think never nervous won player of the year. Don't think this guy did either, but maybe Joe Smith ?

I'm down to two guesses. Up first is Wilt the Stilt. I think he won multiple times, so maybe he didn't lead in scoring one of those years. Second is David Thompson, but I'm 99.9% sure he lead in scoring when he won.

Still no correct answers.

@meisperplexed you were on the surface a while back. But, you never completed your answer.

This is an ACC school. No one, as of yet, has even mentioned a player from this school. This former player was seen on TV during the 2019 NCAA Tournament supporting his alma mater.

Uggggg! I mixed up Wilt the Stilt and Ralph Sampson. This was a great question regardless of my failing memory.

Georgia Tech was really good in the 89-90 season. Lethal Weapon 3 was the nickname of their 3 stars. Dennis Scott and Kenny Anderson were 2 of them. Name the 3rd.

O

That would be right. Dog was made irrelevant by defense of Grant Hill and Cherokee. You are up meis.

I do remember the lock down defense. I also remember Grant saying that Cherokee would help Big Dog in the hotel room and Grant would get up and do lunges.

I think dukiejay is correct. So I won't entertain any guesses at this time.

Being a track guy, I'll throw one little tidbit out. The U.S. has won a gold medal in every single track event (and field event), with the exception of the race walk. Not winning a gold in the race walk is the one event I'm definitely okay with not ever winning a gold in.

That really sucks. What's wrong with the U.S. Is there not enough training facility's ? There's money somewhere. We need another Forrest Gump. Where are we gonna him?

That's hilarious sky. Maybe it's the name the Olympics uses. I'm sure we're world heaters in ping pong.

The Minnesota Twins just won the A.L. Central division title for the first time since 2010. They actually won the World Series twice...name the years and the WS MVP each respective year.
