Ready to get Elmo behind us and looking towards the future.
GO DUKE!
GO DUKE!
That play and the ref assisted Miami Miracle are two plays you will never forget as a Duke football fan.I can't help but hope that Coach Manny has a good defense designed to stop oh, I don't know, 4th and 16?
Ditto!!I was physically sick and depressed hot the whole Elmo thing went down. I am pumped about this hire.
Ben Swain is generally spot-on!There is a poster that I really like on the boards (ben swain) who mentioned several times that people he knew in college Football had said the Troy coach was not ready for a P5 job yet and needed to go to a mid major power for a few years first. I like him but if he wasn't ready then he made the right move. Really looking forward to seeing how Diaz does.
This is a good thing. I always wondered why a coach, especially one that has to restore his reputation (football wise, not personally) would not want this job. Through all the injury, drama, by far the hardest ACC schedule, and utter failure of 4th and 16 and the fallout, we are a bowl win away from being behind only one game from last year (where the schedule was 10x easier). Diaz walks into a situation where unless total disaster happens like 0-2 wins, he is not on the hot seat. At the end of the day, we are a basketball school; however, the past two years have shown we are willing to put resources into football. Marketing genius to have his introduction press conference right before the basketball game. If he has one foot out the door like Elko seemed to have, he is a damn good actor with how he was yesterday.Pretty dope seeing coach Diaz with the crazies yesterday, hit a free throw , and held the baby. He seems really excited, I did really like his enthusiasm
That is a whole lot of stupid.Has Diaz even spoken to one Duke coach? Has he spoken to like 50 players? Diaz and Nina said they wanted to prioritize players on the team, and then players in the portal, and then recruits, and then maybe address coaches later like next year?? Isn't that the opposite of what priorities should be? Players entered portal because of coaching uncertainty, and that's why current players may also enter, and why recruits may decommit. Why hasn't Diaz and Nina said all the same coaches will remain for the time being, and changes will be made as needed over time? If Duke wanted to continue its football success, why not keep all the current coaches who made offense, defense, and special teams good, and made the players in the portal look good or turned them into NFL prospects? Problem with that is Diaz would be accused of winning with "Elko's coaches" and therefore would not command a high salary from the next school. Nina should have told him Duke will be keeping all its assistants and if that reduces Diaz's moneymaking abilities elsewhere in the near future, too bad, that's great for Duke as well. So far Diaz seems to be prioritizing himself over Duke.
Well so long Trooper, thanks for your service. Hope you get a nice pay hike. Let's get another bowl coach. Can't have a future Aggie coaching us ìn Birmingham. Wonder if Watters and Moore knew this last week, and could also be headed to College Station.Well trooper has just announced he is headed to aTm to be running backs coach
kwyjibos13, correct. ACC NETWORK will not even address the sneaky, middle of the nite exit by Elmo. The media may not know nor touch this, but players and recruits certainly know how Elmo handled leaving Duke so a lot of them want nothing to do with this.
I started to reply in full to this moronic bs but decided I did not have the time to address all of the illogic contained in what supposedly is "constructive" criticism. So, I will leave it at this. One, it is not the AD's right or obligation to dictate who will be on the HC's staff. Two, The current assistants may or may not be the best candidates for OC or DC out there. Three, no quality cadidate for HC is going to accept an offer which is contingent upon the AD choosing his OC, DC, and other assistants. OFCHas Diaz even spoken to one Duke coach? A great guy who's worked hard, but a somewhat tainted legacy by this announcement PRIOR to a bowl game he agreed to coach. This Trooper Taylor situation is interesting. Whatever happens, I wish the best for him. A & M seems like a good but short lived payday with no future but if that's what Trooper wants, I hope he's happy. He's been a good soldier for Duke (no pun intended with his name).
