I have a question for Conor: Wake's weird "mesh" offense doesn't seem to be working and I don't know of a successful college football team that runs it. Is there any thought that Clawson might scrap it in favor of a more traditional offense?
Thanks Conor.Very informative, and Deacs defense concerns me,per the weak Duke offense of late. If Loftis starts, would you look for Duke to throw a little more?
There's certainly a sect of Wake's fanbase that wants to scrap it. They obviously don't get to make that call. I think their offseason evaluation of what they're doing has to basically answer the question of whether it has the right personnel to run it. You need a really good interior OL and a QB who can make millisecond reads; it doesn't have those this year.I have a question for Conor: Wake's weird "mesh" offense doesn't seem to be working and I don't know of a successful college football team that runs it. I think if Loftis starts, it'll be a lot of handoffs. It's one thing to trust HB4 in second season to make basically 2 passes to beat an ACC team; I can't see them putting more onto the plate of a freshman. Thanks Conor.Very informative, and Deacs defense concerns me,per the weak Duke offense of late. Btw, the beat writer for Wake has a similar writing style to yourself!!! Hmmm???(lol).OFC
What's your "feel" Conor on Duke getting Monk and/or Barton back this week?(RUNNING BALL CONCERNS W/Deacs strength "up middle"). Also Dalmolin?? Thx!! Just don't know. It's hard to recover with two fewer days of rest; that goes for Riley and Monk. They traveled Barton to Louisville so there was at least some thought of him playing, unless it was just a courtesy travel spot. What's your "feel" Conor on Duke getting Monk and/or Barton back this week?(RUNNING BALL CONCERNS W/Deacs strength "up middle"). Interesting...Maybe he goes tomorrow. As you duly noted, this two days less to get ready w/injuries is problematic!! OFCJust don't know. Yes JCD, definitely want to go ahead and notch #6. Then we want to build on it, and play ourselves into the best bowl possible!Time to become bowl eligible!! Beat Wake tonight will be win #6 and bowl eligible!! Let's get it done!! GO DUKE!!!

Hard for me to ever question Elko, but jeffrey I have to agree with you. "4th and 16" will have a massive imprint on this year, but I will never give up on these guys.Supposedly Barton and Monk are out as well. Haven’t heard about Jones. If Loftis gets hurt, who is our back-up? Jordan Moore?
I love Coach Elko, but I have to second guess his decision to keep Riley in the game last week when it became apparent he wasn’t 100% and the game was lost. At that point getting ready for the Cheats would have been the prudent move.
While I agree this team cannot be happy with close but no cigar moments and games, and 4th and 16 was painful, things like that happen before the next step. Before K made us a powerhouse, we had the painful BC upset, the loss to Louisville, the first half collapse against Seton Hall, and the UNLV beatdown. But to show how K and the team put in the work, after the upset of UNLV, that had letdown and loss to Kansas written all over it. But K learned, and the team finished.Hard for me to ever question Elko, but jeffrey I have to agree with you. A win tonite means bowl eligibility and nine days to prep for the Cheaters. I will predict now you will see Monk, Barton, Jones, Dalmolin and possibly Leonard vs UNC.

You have my sympathy. Pathetic showing so far. Glad the defense is stepping up, not…Pathetic showing, being here in person is more depressing
AmenOur receivers could help the quarterback out if they could hold on to the ball
Duke wins with 3rd string QB. Deal with it, Mary.Anyone listening to the DOOK v Wake Espn tv broadcast? These pro DOOK commentators sound whiter than new fallen snow... I mean, is there any dorkier duo in the country than these guys? I mean are they trying to represent DOOK as the prototype DORK school or what?

Agreed. @kwyjibos13 I just hope we can keep Elko long enough to see it thru. He sure willed us thru in that last 10-0 scoring run last nite! While I agree this team cannot be happy with close but no cigar moments and games, and 4th and 16 was painful, things like that happen before the next step. Elko is still a relatively new coach and seemed like every decision was workimg out. He is human and will make mistakes. But if we keep up the hunger, the recruits will keep following because you can be in the foundation for Duke to go to the next level. You cannot have ultimate success without utter heartbreak.
But that joke commentary... those guys have to be actors, right?Duke wins with 3rd string QB. Deal with it, Mary.
Ultimate gut check passed by our guys smash!!! As my own gut gurgles this morning with whiskey and beer chaser!!!Talk about gutting out a victory.
We're still trying to figure out what you are??? Btw, fake classes still alive and well at UNC since you got away with it???But that joke commentary... those guys have to be actors, right?

I am hopeful, and I may be overly optimistic, but he got the pledged resources. IMHO, the only true step up jobs, the fanbase is ready to toss someone out on their ear after 8 wins. Elko can make this program his.Agreed. @kwyjibos13 I just hope we can keep Elko long enough to see it thru. He sure willed us thru in that last 10-0 scoring run last nite!

I'll have something up over the weekend that's more in-depth than typical game coverage.Did I miss Conor O'Neill's wrapup and analysis, or is he laying low today?
