duke football news

YES Lift, because there is NO TELLING what crap The Cheats employ in recruiting tactics against us.

I even wonder if the Cheats tell recruits that they will be joining the BIG or SEC soon and Duke will be left in a lower conference. I suspect Mack Brown will say anything. Hopefully there are some kids and their parents who are too smart for that nonsense and they will turn to Elko for some honesty.

Amen Lift!! Mack WILL say anything. He lied this spring when he said Drake Maye was offered 5mil in NIL $$$ to transfer. Maye later told an interviewer it WAS NOT TRUE.

This is part of the squeaky clean image FAT MACK tries to convey to the public. It's a pure smokescreen. Mack immediately hopped aboard the fake classes shenanigans founded in the Athletic Department in the early 90s.

ND Insider Tom Loy changed his Crystal Ball for Paul Mencke (4* Safety) from ND to Duke. Also of note, Mencke changed his visit date from the later in the month to tomorrow just a few days ago.

Mencke originally had three crystal balls for ND, but one of those has been discarded and the other has also changed to Duke

I get the feeling that this may be a critical time for Duke football. Elko over-achieved last season and there might be great improvement this season but it may not show in the team's record.

This recruiting cycle is also the group that can show other conferences that Duke football is something to be reckoned with and gets Duke into the conversation of joining one of the major conferences if the ACC fails.

I don't think Elko would say Duke over-achieved last year. I think he would say that the only game we should have lost was Kansas and that we should have won Ga Tech, UNCheat, and Pitt. So, obviously, talent was there. Just as obviously, Cut did not know how to use it. So, 12 -1 was definitely in the realm of possibility. Now, if we go 9-4 with this year's schedule, over-achieving might be a relevant term depending upon whose expectations are considered. Elko is probably looking at 13-0. OFC

I agree there was talent last year, obviously. I also think Elko did a miraculous job changing the culture after so much losing. I did not see that happening so quickly.

I think Duke can eventually be a better program than Wake, simply because Duke has a greater national profile for recruiting. And that will require a good dose of 4 stars along with coaching up the athletic 2 and 3 stars, in my opinion.

so this is the first big big weekend at duke. a dozen recruits and family in town for show and tell. a couple of crystal balls in already for us. man lets hope the next few weekends go well. this could be a game changing class if it does.

ps conor do you want to list them?

Any idea when we may hear some news about commitments?

My bad, trying to track the baseball team(s).

Indeed, Elko sent the alert tweet this morning. I don't know who it is (yet) but I imagine this June/July is going to look similar to last year when there was seemingly a commit per day, sometimes two.

If you're into reading tea leaves, it's been RT'd by Santucci and Bower, so that might indicate it's a defensive player.

2ND TWEET OUT. thats 2. if they are following the crystal balls we got then they would be OT mason wade 6-5 290lbs and S paul menke 6-2 180lbs. paul is a composite 4 star and mason is a high 3 star not yet rated by espn. both would be really nice gets. i feel like maybe their might be a surprise recruit in here

okay first name out
montreze smith
5'11'' 200 lb linebacker from georgia
main offers include duke, bc, wva, memphis, liberty, coastal carolina, appy and more
rates as an 87 on 247 and an 86 on ON3 so look for rivals to do their standard 5.4 never look at him rating.

ps another crystal ball for wade and mencke to duke went in this afternoon. that would be seven out of this weekend so far.

tyshon reed jr

P5 offers from duke, unc, northwestern, ga tech, minn, ole miss, vandy and wake

So Umeh has an after visit interview on 247 today. Really seemed to enjoy his time at Duke. Had good things to say about staff and program. Still going to take his Penn state and Stanford trips plus trying to add one to Florida. He also really enjoyed his Wisconsin trip so it is going to be a real battle for him. Just great to think we are in a final five like that.

so third player announces
Zach Jackson
6' 170 lbs DB from georgia
he plays both wr and db but duke recruited him as a db
also is a big time baseball player which he will also play at duke
P5 offers include duke, ga tech, vandy, bc, wake and uva
min level appy, coastal, ecu, jmu, navy, usf and may more
247 has him as a solid 86 three star

All three of the guys who committed so far from this weekend are from Georgia. Idk what level of competition they're playing at (no clue what levels there are to HS football) but I hear GA is a talented state, so I love to see that.
Blue Devils have recruited their share of talent from Georgia for a while. One of our most successful qb's ever, Steve Slayden '88, hailed from the Peach State! Great to see Elko keeping the pipeline open! OFC

OKAY #4 tweets out
Da'Vontae Floyd
5'10'' 170 lb WR from the 757 in VA
P5 offers include duke, maryland, nc state, unc, ole miss, pitt, gamecocks, va tech, uva, wake and wva.
mids also strong with appy, ecu, liberty and buffalo
basically everyone in driving distance.
watch his huddle video and he looks like a stronger crowder. NICE pickup
