Bounce back or epic embarrassment? That’s what today holds. We enter lville as a 14.5 favorite where we face a 6 win team with the best win of the year somehow coming against Miami. Not much will be able to save Kenny Paynes job but a win against Duke can’t hurt

I have no idea what to expect, all I know is us spoiled fans better be just fine with whatever the outcome is! ;)

I’m starting this one early since we’ve experienced a terrible week break between games. What a ridiculous time to have a break!

Pitt comes in at 10-7 with one win in the ACC. Cappel needs the W big time but it’s doubtful to come today.

I expect us to be rusty, very rusty but to ultimately pull away by double digits

Duke vs. Pitt 2 - No win no Gameball

I am really disappointed to see some of the same things I believed Scheyer was lacking last year are still true this year. Don't get me wrong, I still think he is a good coach, and could possibly be great. But really wanted to see some marked improvement this year.

I know, I know - we were lacking 2 starters. And yes they made some Circus shots - but by and large we made a mediocre offensive team look like a great offensive team. Yes, no Mitchell changes our defensive identity, but we are suppossed to be playing with elite players that can adjust.

But the problem with that is the coach needs to coach those adjustments. Capel just watched game tape from our previous game and abused us just as they did. However, rather than squeaking out a win we lost in humiliating fashion.

The season is far from lost. Scheyer just needs to step it up a bit. He's got the horses, he just needs to get them to run the right way. Or we are just going to get abused more times this season by mediocre teams.

  • Ryan Young 10 pts - 9 reb

Well I wanted an emphatic statement. We got a squeak by win.

But a win is a win.

Mitchell sitting in street clothes showed us how much we miss his defensive presence. Scheyer tried his four guard lineup a little too (way too) long. Scheyers lack of adjustments for the P&R was killing me. GT's hot hand/hands was giving me a heart attack.

I was scratching my head with tge lack of players in the paint when the bench was panned and Stanley and Reeves were sitting right there.

But anyway. We won. Flip a juggernaut for much of the game, Roach the steadying senior and Proctor finally decided to show up.

Special thanks to Ryan Young for almost a double/double and Blakes for all the work that does not show up on a Stat sheet.

Georgia Tech-Duke | 5 p.m., 1/13

Preview for tomorrow's game.

Programming note: I'll be at Wake Forest again, so I have the same freelancer as the Queens game, Tommy Hamzik, covering this one for us.

Predictions:

- Mark Mitchell gets back into double-figure scoring (not saying anything about where he makes his shots).

- Kyle Filipowski puts up a second straight double-double.

- GT gets at least 18 points from Miles Kelly, but he takes at least 15 shots to get there.

Coming off a nice 20 point win against the orange crush Duke has a good chance against a bad team to quickly get a winning record in conference. Duke is currently favorably 14.5

Notre dame comes into today with a record of 6-8 with the strangest win coming against UVA by 22! They also lost to my regional team the WCU Catamounts! ND is coached by 1st year head coach and 18th ND coach of all time Micah Shrewsberry. Coach has had a pretty impressive coaching career so far so ND might not be a pushover for too long. He turned Penn State around in 2 seasons and was an assistant for the Celtics.

This is a game Duke should win handedly and I believe it’ll be one of those games where we feel in control the entire time but the end result is closer than it seems…

It feels weird to have such a quick turnaround after all our breaks, but I’m glad for it!! Duke is currently a 5.5 point favorite

Pitt hasn’t really won any good games this year although they played Clemson and Carolina pretty well.. we all know the coach so no need to discuss that!

Duke wins just by how much. I feel better about today

Duke-Pitt | 9 p.m., 1/9

Duke's game on the 6th started at 6 p.m. ... this game on the 9th starts at 9 p.m. Weird little quirk.

Preview for tomorrow night's game at Pitt. Goes in depth on Jeremy Roach's steadying hand during Duke's 6-game winning streak, plus all of the usual preview notes you need to know.

Programming note: I'll have remote coverage of the game.

Predictions:

- Mark Mitchell hits another 3 (yes I'm still pissed at leaving that out of the predictions for the ND game).

- Kyle Filipowski bounces back with a double-double, scores at least 15.

- Pitt makes at least 9 3-pointers, four of them coming from Blake Hinson.
