Next years minutes

That’s pretty weird for him to enter the portal… is this as simple as he wants some PT? Or is there more to it? I’m really shocked

Smaller school, more PT. His grandad retired so I’d move on to play.

maybe.. but honestly who could he play for? He has terrible high school numbers and K even said he was probably a D2 level player (that’s being generous at the time IMO)

Is it the reason why we suddenly are pursuing this kid? @bmbritt posted this in the "updated '22 and '23 recruiting ranking" thread....

Just as an FYI, supposedly we have reached out Julian Philips and gaged his interest on taking a visit to Duke before making any decision about where he is going to attend school in 2022 or go to G League. Supposedly, Tennessee, FSU, and G League are out front in his recruitment but found it interesting that we are getting involved. Guess we will see how serious we are and he is about Duke.

To be fair the CBS mock is the only one I have seen with Moore in the second round.

Savarino entering the portal. Hopefully the only player to enter the portal. (No this is not a joke he really did.) He has one more year left. Blakes is the guy we need to hold onto.
Probably best that the kid leaves. Jon needs a clean slate. Nothing against K and the Savarino family.

Not to mention he graduated from Duke according to the article I read or rather got a degree . Good for him believing he can play . Now I see him going to a lower level school .

Great to hear about the degree. I thought that he was only a junior. Good for him! Edited to say, I typed " good for him " . I don't think I've ever used that phrase in my life, but the person I quoted used the phrase. I seem to copy what others say as I get older. Interesting to me....probably not anyone else

I know that one of the Krzyzewski daughters works at Duke. I believe in the basketball office. I don't know if it's Savarino's mother If someone knows her job I would be interested.

Really glad to hear he will graduate before going. That was the only thing I questioned. After that, this makes a lot of sense for him if he wants to try to play somewhere.

This doesn't change the scholarship count. Walk on scholarships are year to year, and only given when extras are available.

I heard UCLA is aggressively pursuing him.

He’ll follow in the footsteps of Steward, Hurt, Stanley, Duvall. I could go
I’ve said it before but Stanley HAD to go. He’s two years older than rj Barrett. You know the guy who played a year before Stanley. He wasn’t really a freshman dude was like a junior.
Jesus, that is freaking sad then. Because Flip is not ready to play that many starters minutes. Whitehead is the only one who is a difference maker from the get go.
Why can’t flip play that long? He’s older than the rest of the freshman class. I don’t want him playing that long either but he’ll be fine if he needs to.

I think Mitchell is the better defender and has more of an upside. I think Flip is a better all around player than Matthew Hurt was as a freshmen coming in. But, he worries me if he is going for 25+ every night. Lively has a lot of defensive upside. It's his complacency on offense at times that concerns me. This is why we need a great big transfer for next year. Someone like Broome or Theo would be awesome.

Watched a lot of Mitchell today. Don’t sleep on him splitting minutes at pf. He does the bulk of his scoring attacking or 12 feet out from the basket . He’s a junk yard dog type player . I don’t think enough gets talked about him .

I agree. I think he is the Justice Winslow of this group. Kid is a damn dog out there. I love his game. I am the most excited about him and Whitehead as immediate contributors.

Brendan Marks is reporting Moore is gone. So, I guess we know which side of the fence he landed on. Can't say I blame him. Just really sucks. Keels staying is paramount to next year's success now. And we need at least one more big with experience.
Fully agree bleed. I had hopes Wendell was staying. Can't see him going 1st round, and quite honestly see him bouncing around league- perhaps even playing a little G-league.Wish him the best, Keels remaining is a must.

Read an article where Moore is on the fence but most of what he has heard is late first to early second and some NBA scouts think if he comes back and improves in the small areas , shooting in general and build on his defense he’s early first round next draft but it also depends on what he does at workouts and the combine .

Interesting Shey. I think his improvement upon shooting is a MUST for him to stick in league, and go first round. A good showing in the camps is imperative.

Is he reliable? I saw it on Twitter but he’s the only one saying it so was wondering about thay
