Yeah I hate he is going to aTm and following Elmo. He could have become a legend at Duke.
Surf, I agree. IMHO, Trooper may easily get lost in the shuffle at A&M. I am sure he will make more $$, but he is now risking a real loss in status.

Trooper Taylor is ESTABLISHED at Duke now. As long as he's seen on those Duke sidelines, he's associated with guiding the Blue Devils to a bowl win, and is a high visibility candidate for other head coaching jobs.I am not so sure Trooper will rank as high on the totem pole at College Station.

Now I don't know if Manny's offered him, but I would venture AD Nina King would want to retain Taylor. His leadership has served King and Duke staff quite well thru two coaching changes.

Well apparently the offensive coordinator is known because he was a factor in recruiting the new quarterback from Texas.

I assume that Diaz will choose his own DC as well although I would be happy for Santucci to stay on.

I wish Duke had money to keep Trooper Taylor but I suspect that A & M will make an offer he can't refuse.

Diaz firing Duke's DC Santucci who works well with the players/recruits and had the 20th best scoring defense to bring in the Texas STATE DC patke who has the 116th scoring defense out of 130. Even Duke's CO-DC Hemphill who was Wake Forest DC for 3 seasons and was FCS DC of the year would be much better than 116th in nation at tx STATE DC Patke. Especially considering a real coach Bob Chesney who's turned around and won championships at his last 3 schools who was hired by a real AD that has JMU ranked in football and mens basketball just hired Hemphill to be DC of JMU, Duke fans who like winning and merit should switch to JMU Dukes fans.

Firing Duke's OC with 10 years experience to bring in someone with zero OC or playcalling experience as a lowly position coach from a minor league.

Spending all Duke's nil money on mediocre qb Maalik who quits on his national championship playoff team and runs for -18 yards per carry and throws for bad 6.7 yards per pass, 3 INT and 3 TD, despite FAR better teammates playing vastly inferior opponents, still managed to go to OT against a badly outmatched team. Maalik should be 3rd string at Duke but Duke's other 2 better qbs may transfer since he was probably promised the starting job.

Great job, now which other great Duke coaches and players will Diaz get rid of next, and which terrible coaches and players that nobody else wants will he overpay and bring in next?

Patake help lead Texas State to it's first bowl win ever and led the nation in TFL. Penn State was ranked second in that category. They have known each other for a while and most coaches want their own coordinators they know and have worked with. I think it is nothing against what we had as they were good but Coach wanted his own. You leave out a lot of information in your constructive criticism.

Not the take I'd expect from someone with the handle "constructivecritic." Just sayin'.

I feel bad for Santucci and Johns but it's not our fault that their head coach eft in the middle of the night and didn't take them with him. They will land on their feet having added two winning seasons to their resume. Good luck guys, we appreciated everything you did for us.

Well, perhaps 4th and 16 and defense against a fake punt were memorable the wrong way but the good far outweighed the bad.

I think both are very good and will do well

Constructive showed his @ss and how stupid he is when he made the statements Duke should have thrown more money at Elmo would have kept him. Not that the way he handled leaving did not make it quite clear he had one foot out the door or anything ...

I am ok with changing coordinators for two reasons. 1. There were multiple times we went for it on fourth down and I wanted to throw something. Duke was not entirely out of it but there was a fourth down in the 2nd quarter at Louisville where Riley got hurt the play before that instantly made me turn off that game. And I am sorry, going for it on 4th down up 20-17 at FSU was totally wrong when your QB was knocked out of the game. 2. There were way too many drives that led to points for the opposing team where they were pinned inside the 20.

Our defense was good, but how much was it pumped up by a pathetic non con schedule?

I was a little skeptical of the hire at first because of TXST's less than impressive numbers, but then I thought about the personnel he had there. They have almost no talent on the defensive side of the ball, and though they gave up a lot of points and yards, they led the nation in TFLs. That's impressive, especially considering the group of players on D. With our personnel, I am sure he'll do well. Plus Diaz is a great defensive coach, so add that in as well and I look forward to seeing how this team plays next fall

I don't blame a guy who is starting a new job to bring in his own guys who have his back. I learned that years ago, that you need to do that.

Manny's job is on the line if these guys don't perform so he needs to know what he's doing. Obviously he intends to be aggressive which players love and which should help in recruiting.

I know its not Duke football, but I know it will make Duke fans happy. The cheating bastards from Crapal Hill got there asses headed to them by West Virginia 30-10 tonight in the mayonnaise bowl.

OFC
I thought it was funny Coach cried all year for Tez Walker to get to play and when they allow him to play he opts out for the bowl game. 12 or more players opted out. At least at Duke we had some guys going to the portal playing. That says a lot.

FYI he only makes 300 grand as head coach so we are probably offering a good amount more
Well that's certainly a plus, he'll up his salary for certain by coming aboard. Quite a bit of social media buzz why he would give up head coaching job to take a role elsewhere as a RBs coach.
Quite honestly given his success I can understand the argument.

However, the flip side is the networking (IMO) of moving into Power Five circles. Manny is connected for certain, and that can only be a plus for Simmons on a future job resume. OFC

Diaz firing Duke's associate HC for defense and DL coach Jess Simpson whose unit had 22 sacks in 2023, he was promoted from co-DC last season and won 7 state championships as HC in GA winning over 93%, was DL coach for NFL Falcons and UMiami, and recently offered by TXAM, Florida, and others. Diaz is doing a great job getting rid of any great coaches from last season, wouldn't want Nina to realize that any of them would be better than he is at being HC.

Trooper gone too, of course he left weeks ago but Nina/Duke and their sycophants kept it quiet so she could let midnight trooper be HC for the bowl over much more qualified and loyal higher ranking assistants like Johns, Santucci, Hemphill, Simpson, who actually wanted to be at Duke. Love the mental gymnastics of Duke fans falling all over themselves to slurp on trooper who never should have been interim HC when he left weeks ago for cash just like elko who actually did things to elevate Duke and left the program with tons of great coaches who Nina and Diaz got rid of.

Nina doing a great job so far, since Riley was a top 5 NFL QB before the injury and only one of those returning to ncaa he could have won the Heisman and led Duke to ACC and national titles, now all Duke has is the 68th best talent out of 68 power 4 teams and possibly multiple zero win seasons in a row, which Duke fans oddly demand and hunger for, it's been too long. Strangest fanbase I've ever seen. Nina and Duke's passive loser mentality is also why they'll end up like stanford/cal, refusing to spend a dime on any coaches that matter, making zero dollars from conference and irrelevant in all sports.
