Potential portal players

Pretty sure he has signed with an agent, but as long as they are NCAA approved, they can do that now and still return.
Actually just read he hasn’t but that doesn’t mean it’s because he’s still searching for the right one. Also read there are no more scholarships available unless Keels says he’s officially not coming back, Blake’s decides to transfer or Reeves is officially red shirted prior to coming on campus . So I’d bank on Keels not returning or returning if that makes sense. Also I think Blake’s would have already announced he’s red shirting and I think Reeves redshirt remains up in the air until at least after the first two scrimmages of the season. Like it or not until Keels decides what he’s doing . No one will know what’s going on with that last roster spot .

Even if Reeves redshirts the scholarship still counts.

Who am I forgetting? I only count 11 here, Keels could be 12 (I don't see that happening either). If that's correct, we still have two scholarships.

Roach, Blakes
Schutt, Baker
Whitehead, Catchings
Flip, Mitchell
Lively, Young, Reeves

Keels was never coming back...we alll need to just let it go.
You could well be right. I am just saying that until it is set in stone, the staff will slow play any more moves. I thought that I read somewhere that Duke was looking at a decommit from some school (LSU?) but maybe I am wrong.

We're going to get another guard. Who that is? Not sure yet. I wouldn't get my hopes up on Baylor though.

I would assume Keels let the staff know exactly what his plans are and how likely it is he returns. I know some depends on feedback. Because if not it keeps us from getting a good replacement and if he leaves anyway, that is not good. It's tricky, because if we get a good transfer that could nudge keels out if he's unsure but we have to recruit someone. I would guess he's 90 percent gone.

Duke not being miami “ish” with nil will definitely prevent alot of transfers. I know many agree but nil isn’t going to do duke many favors imo

No I agree w/you. Duke isn't going to go skyrocketing on the deals. We CAN offer something REASONABLE, and probably the biggest stage in the world w/Duke Basketball. OFC

Maybe but Wong pulled his name out of the portal and issued a sorta apology and the schools interested in Scheierman have shrunk so that now Creighton is the favorite, ie no Duke and no Kentucky. The top schools don't want to play this game and that may very well tips the scales against this sort of contract negotiation. Plus Duke got the top player this past year in Banchero and has back to back top rated classes coming in under Scheyer. Clearly Duke has figured something out.

We made Baylor's top 5. Still think he picks Creighton but we are still in the running. The rest of the top 5 is Nebraska, Arkansas and Clemson. Twitter is reporting we have reached out to Isiaih Mosley from Missouri State. 6-5 senior averaged nearly 20ppg. The 4th ranked transfer overall, so we will have some competition. Anything is possible, but the fact we are pursuing these guys tells me Trevor is not returning.

Most likely on the list for publicity.

All the scuttlebutt was that he would be staying and then in about a 24-48hr period that changed. It sucks, because he and Roach together next season would've been a hell of a backcourt.
Yep, 100% agree.

I just ignore clowns that come in and say dumb ish because they have no insight and run on negative perspective lol

Looks like Blakes is staying. That is good news. I haven't heard anything but I think the deadline for entering the portal has passed. He is a guy who may be ready for backup PG minutes.

Correct, the deadline was 5/1 at 11:59PM. This means he's staying, which I agree is good news. I think he knows he needs to get better before looking for plenty of minutes. So, more likely his junior and senior years for him, which is good for us to have a guy stay four years.

I do think it is important for Blakes to crack the rotation this year. Even 5 mpg backing up Roach. If he barely plays for 2 years it's unlikely he sees decent minutes after that. Other than Roach he's the only pure PG on the roster.

If I was Blakes I would hope Keels moves on. I think Keels would see the point sometimes when Jeremy catches a breather. Just my opinion...OFC

I would agree and I hope that he can progress in order to provide better numbers than Jordan Goldwire. If he can do that, it would be nice.

The deadline to enter and be able to play else where was 5/1. You can still transfer it just takes a process now to see if you can play right away or have to sit out a year. Grad transfers can still transfer at any time and play right away. Blake’s unless medical or something serious if he left would have to sit a year.

Just watched some footage of Mosely. The good; nice 3 point shot, can put it on the floor, athletic. The bad; skinny, a bit of a ball stopper. (This guy really likes to shoot) But Baylor does too.

I do like both and would accept them with open arms. However, I think I would rather have Mosley. According to Sports Reference, for College Basketball, the Missouri Valley Conference had a much higher strength of schedule than the Summit League.

In addition, it appears that Baylor wants to play the Paolo role of being a point forward, just not sure if he has that skill in the ACC.

My favorite college player of the last decade, Matthew Mayer, is in the portal. 6'9", fast and fearless. The white guy with the mullet from Baylor. He will probably stay in the draft, but he's a great player and a joy to watch.

He fouled out in overtime against my Tar Heels. The reason UNC won in overtime
