OT: Sports trivia part 2.

I have one. Today 6 new members of MLB HOF were inducted. Name any 4. OFC

With a couple of relief pitchers getting into the HOF today, I'll toss out relief pitcher question.

Who was the first relief pitcher to win the Cy Young ?

Not Eckersley though he did win one.

Geez then this reliever has to go back to the 70's or 80's then. I'm going with Goosage. He should have had a lot of opportunities with the Yankees in 78' and 79'. OFC

I don't think Gossage ever won it, Fingers did, but not the 1st. The 1st was indeed from the 70's, not as big a name as those 2.

A real "workhorse" if there ever was one though.

Sutter won one as well, but not the 1st.

You guys will remember the guy, although he is not a household hall of fame type name. He was not a modern closer. Multiple inning workhorse, who broke a record I'm pretty sure he still holds.

He is believed to be the man who convinced Tommy John to try a "new" experimental type of surgery when John blew out his arm.

The record he broke was for appearances in a season. He pitched in over 100 games in his Cy Young year helping his team all the way to the World Series.

He later broke the A.L. record for appearances in a season with 90 for the Twins.

Danged it. I knew that. ponarkel will never forgive me. If he had been playing he would have gotten it right off but he's only on the board every other Sat. You guys who don't know who ponarkel is its just too complicated to explain. OFC

Both of you have correct answers. One of you two go ahead with the next question.

Eisenhower
Kennedy
Reagan
Ford
Nixon

Taft would have been one heck of a nose tackle.
Kennedy? I thought he had that bad back problem from early on.

Clyde " The Glide " Austin was a PG for NCSU from 1976 to - 1980. He was know for his ball handling skills and did play for the Globetrotters. During a televised ACC regular season game and State up by one point with a few seconds left he goes to about half court and starts dribbling the ball to run the time out. I was really pulling hard State that day. Well he got careless and turned his head and a player known for his defensive abilities stole the ball and went in for the winning basket. Made me sick to my stomach. Name the player and team that ruined my day. OFC
