For baseball fans, this time of the year doesn't get much better....and I know there's a number of guys here who also follow quite closely. What does everyone think?

Obviously, it's a foregone conclusion that the Twins will beat the Yankees (right @skysdad)....but what about the other three series? Is an Astros/Dodgers World Series inevitable?

There's just something about October baseball. How can you not be romantic about it?

Unfortunately, the Twins are the Yankees’ bitch.

Unfortunately, the Twins are the Yankees’ bitch.

Hard to argue with this. We've played them five times in the postseason over the last 16 years. Our record is 2-13. The last time we played them was in the wild card game two years ago. Twins scored three in the top of the first and I thought we might end the jinx. The Yankees then scored three in the bottom half and led 8-3 by the fourth inning. Game over.

I think if the Twins can steal one tonight it will go a long way. If they lose, then I'm convinced the Yankees win in three or four. Hopefully we can get to Paxton early.

Should be a great series. Both teams hit about 1.8666 home runs a game. I'm saying about 5 tonight with my Yankees hitting 3 in by 5-4 score. OFC

Go Cards!

Would like to see the Nats, Twins and I guess the Astros advance as well.

Garbage game last night. Just garbage. Not sure what Rocco’s motivation was to bring in Littell, Stashak and Gibson in a close game. Didn’t think Arraez should be in the lineup, either....he was clearly still hobbled with the ankle and it cost us three runs.

I knew it was an uphill climb, but I’m afraid this series ends in three now. I thought last night was almost a ‘must-win’ game one if you’re going to win the series. The Twins just don’t have the starting pitching to keep competitive. Heck, our guy Dobnak who is starting today was still an Uber drive three months ago. What does that tell you?

DJ, tells me he might want to make sure he doesn't have to go back to Ubering!

Kurt Warner worked in a supermarket, and I think John Starks did too. They didn't do so badly.:)
I love these type of stories, and I hope he has a fairy tale ending today. Sorry, Sky!:D

Pitiful, just pitiful. OFC

Go stros!

Cron not finishing the double play was the Twins undoing IMO. If they get out of that inning who knows.

It wasn’t a great throw, but I agree with you. For a first baseman, that must be a routine play. He simply butchered it. Bottom line is the Yankees constantly put pressure on the Twins all night with a flood of base runners and then managed big hits in big spots.

Like I’ve harped on, the quality pitching is lacking....but when you give free bases with walk-after-walk you have no one to blame but yourself. I’m trying to stay positive, but last night went exactly how I’d feared.

I hope you’re right, OAD. I’d love to be at Target Field Monday evening with the series tied at a game apiece.

Grew up a Dodger fan, but since I live in NY I'm a Yankees rooter. I'll be conflicted if it's those two in the series.

Watching the Braves win with my pops felt like the old days. I want this series win so much!!

Orioles have won zero pennants - and just two division titles in my lifetime (dating back to 85). Pretty sure next year is the year we take it all.

Can any one stop that Yankee machine?

The Twins just couldn't slow them down. Nowhere near enough pitching, and beating up on the likes of the White Sox, Royals and Tigers probably inflated our record some. I'm not sure we could beat the Yankees three times in 15 games, let alone five.

YANKEES WIN. THE YANKEES WIN. OFC

Congrats, skysdad. We've been the Yankees whipping boys for a long, long time. I'm afraid it's not going to change unless we can make some waves with starting pitching in the offseason. I'd like to see the Twins go hard after guys like Porcello and Bumgartner this winter.

Good luck to the Yankees the rest of the way.

I don’t like our pitching matchup at all for game 5.....we’ll see
Yeah, one great start out of Folty was a blessing but two might be a minor miracle, though he has been trending in the right direction for some time now. Hopefully we can get ahead early and not have every pitch carry the weight of the world with it. I’m not sure I can take another game of this, much less another series. And Freddie has to show up. Period.

The only thing about a 10 run lead in the 1st is the other team still has 8 innings to catch up. OFC
