Favorite THR Quotes....

Hey, @OldasdirtDevil, can I ask... I've got a photoshop favor (not Duke related) that I am trying to find someone to do... I think it is a pretty simple one (like, less than five minutes)... any chance I could bother you with it?

I'll give it a try Dude1. Since I've been visiting my brother, I'm behind here at home, and have to take care of my wife, and haven't even prepared dinner yet. So, yeah, send it to me, but I probably am not going to be able to get to it for a few more hours. Email is" oldasdirtdevil@hotmail.com, or you can post it in a thread on DI...whatever you feel comfortable doing.

DSouthr wants to take one last stab at idiotic post of the year before 2018 is in the books. This one is a borderline hall of Famer in my eyes. From a pure lack of common sense, to taking things too literally, and of course my favorite just making things and quotes up out of thin air, this one has it all. To be clear, you can tell a HOF THR post when it’s so outlandishly stupid that you can’t even argue it, you just have to laugh and enjoy it.

“I swear I think K must have someone, maybe a team of folks that pour over social media looking for buzz words and phrases. UNC has their long standing tradition of the family, what grew organically and has been in place for pretty much our entire lives, K had to have something to counter that, even if it didn't exist so evidentially the key word phrases that worked best was to say they had a "brotherhood" at duke? K notices that Kalipari had coined his "dribble drive" phrase to give a name to his dumbing down their system so now duke has what they want to call "positionless" basketball, a clear rip off of what the GSW have named what they do as.

2 examples of duke coming up for a name for something that does not actually exist. There is actually no such thing as "positionless" basketball, don't believe me, fine, get back to me what Boldin plays PG for duke, let me know when Tre Jones becomes the starting center for duke? There are and pretty mcuh have always been players that play multiple positions, Roy and UNC have done this for as long as I can remember. Because you can play multiple positions does not mean you are "positionless" because when you are in the game you do still play a single position, how many minutes has Zion had this season for duke as a PG, how3 often has McConnell defended centers this season, oh can he please try to be a center when we play, I would LOVE to see McConnell guarding Luke Maye in the paint!

What we, duke, Ky all have is some players that can play multiple positions, it is only when you are talking in terms of a guy that may be able to play all 5 positions at a all star level that you could consider him as maybe not being defined by a single position but even that guy is better at one that the others, Magic, Lebron were/are as close to positionless as you are going to find, maybe Bird. But you are talking about the very rare player and even they gravitate to a single position.

I find it funny that K seems to feel like he needs to come up with a name tag for something that does not exist. But that is Ks sale, come play for duke and you will be taken care of for life, will be part of the brotherhood, and will get to play any place you want on the court because we are positionless! Yet look at the comments from the same players that bought that lie when they realize they were lied to, you know like Carter, Thorton, Semi in just this past off season ect...”

Part of me sometimes thinks that DSouthr is just putting us on to get people talking about him....because nobody is this stupid, right?

Wow! That dude is an idiot.

Plus k has talked positionless basketball for 20+ years. Probably his preferred way to play but sometimes duke doesn’t have that versatility on their roster.

So, K is an idiot for calling it "positionless basketball" because that doesn't exist. But, he also says K ripped it off from the Golden State Warriors. So, does it not exist, or are the Warriors idiots too?

They talk out of both sides of their mouths so much that if you try and keep track you’ll get dizzy from all of the spinning they put you through. It’s a constant “well which one is it bc it cant be both” Conundrum.

This seems to be the new mantra of Carolina basketball. First, it was 'Family', or as I like to say ''AFAMily", next it was 'the Carolina Way', as pure as the driven snow they are, and now it's 'Complex Basketball', where only the very elite (any UNC player) can grasp the superior basketball teachings of a man who's most articulated phrase contains the words 'dadgummit, and frickin'.

And what can be said about DSouth that hasn't been said before.

I’ve noticed DSouth writes novels on THR. The guy probably lives in the basement of his parents home and devotes all of his time to solely write posts on THR.

They are always talking chit about what a clean program Roy runs, how he doesn’t allow misbehaving by players, how great of an academic school they are, how Roydoesn’t recruit one and dones (he does recruit them they just don’t sign with Roy because they don’t want to stay there 3 or 4 years, how they are such a fine family full of dignity. The truth is they are none of these things but for the life of us we just can’t understand it except they have convinced themselves how much better they are than anyone else. They are the laughing stock of the whole college basketball world. Integrity and clean my ass Roy.

They couldnt have hired a better FB coach in Mack Brown to have a matching SET OF CROOKED JERKS coaching football and hoops (unc hof coach Roy Knew).....

Watching them trying to talk themselves into "Nas has no choice but to come back" and "A GM should be fired for drafting Nas in the lottery" is truly amazing.

Nas is a top 10 pick at worst. He's gone.

Nas should be gone, however, we’re talking about Roy Williams! Roy has scripted this situation perfect. I stated before the season that Roy wouldn’t start Nassir and most of everyone up here stated even Roy couldnt **** this one up. Well, it’s January and Nassir isn’t in the starting lineup. By seasons end, Nassir will become 50/50 to return to unc . After Roy meets with him to provide feeedback, look for Nassir to return for his Sophomore year.

Yeah, there’s absolutely no way Nas should do another year in Chapel Hill. Even if he is overrated and was misevaluated, the smart thing to do is go get your money. Don’t worry about those dolts in Chapel Hill.

From who other than Gary-7

Play zone and hope they cannot light it up from three. We don't have a soul that can play their three freshmen man to man.
Not quite true. KW will ideally be on Barrett, and if Kenny gets a fair shake from the zebras Barrett could have a rough day. Force him to his right and he's out of his comfort zone.

Reddish is not that hard to guard provided you stay in his grille, as he tends to stand around when his compadres hog the ball. He will shoot as soon as he feels leather however, so you can't give him any space. I would imagine Cam will get him.

Zion is a dadgummed handful, especially as poor as this team is at moving their feet in Help. Granted, if they actually called his travels, he'd average 10 TOs a game, but good luck with that . I tend to agree that Nas would be the strongest matchup (literally and figuratively). Thing is though, we need to keep Nas outta foul trouble, because none of their glory-hounds can guard him if we turn him loose to attack the rim.

I REALLY hope we're starting Small by then, because I want to see Bolden have to chase Luke around the perimeter and keep him away from protecting the rim, and I would invert Nas and Luke and let Nas operate in the paint. Bolden has hurt us in the past but if he has to chase Luke that could be negated.

The biggest issue could be if Jones plays. We haven't guarded a legit PG worth a damn all season and if he runs free it puts too much pressure on everyone else. The good news about Jones is you can dare him to shoot. If he happens to hit, hey oh well, you hafta take your chances somewhere, but I like those odds. If it's White, you MUST take away the corner-3 and keep him from getting a running start to crash the boards --- and whoever he's guarding needs to go to take it to him because White trying to play defense is a study in comic bufoonery. And like Reddish, O'Connell can't be given an inch of space. He's little threat off the bounce, but he can flat shoot.

I also wouldn't mind mixing in some Point Zone, but I'm not expecting it.

Found this gem in the Duke/UNC matchup thread. They already bitching about the refs. I wish I wasn't banned.

Anyone seen the thread about the first triple double by Theo Pinson?Basically said that a top ten recruit can learn that by staying in school for four years.Glosses over that he is in the G league making 85 k per year instead of the millions made by other top ten recruits. Also says that Hubert’s coaching taught him how to shoot but that coaching did not work for him in college

I can't help but think that the mods over at thr would bury this thread if they just went ahead and buried all Duke fans. It's has rose from the smoldering red hot ashes and risen again. May this thread go on forever. Best thread ever. OFC

“Got some cryptic info tonight that seemed to translate into he and/or his family ain't exactly feelin' it with Crean so far. As I posted months ago, that factor going wrong for them would be the only thing that could lose a Kessler for UGA.”

Who wants to guess who posted this :D

“Also, I was laughing during the game because I used to blow the whistle in practice anytime one of my players even threw that diagonal skip from the baseline”

Two things I doubt 2nd grade girls know what a skip pass is and I can just see Gary in his moms basement laughing at the tv while this happened
