Official game day thread- Duke vs NC St

I said in my first post of the game that Hill and Taylor could give us problems but it’s been Parker and Styles. Others got to step it up .

Not able to watch. Are we leaving the 20% 3 point shooters wide open and they just happened to hit or did they make tough shots? How is styles and Parker a combine 7 of 8

Crazy night.

I know it's a physical defensive game, so I wouldn't expect a lot of minutes but otherwise Evans is just not getting on the court ... Could have used a couple of 3s by him.

Once again Jon is reverting to the "Coach K fear of playing his bench in a tight game." Which tends to backfire in March.

I’d take a made free throw at this point.
One thing I have liked about foster even though he has been bad of late. He is attacking off the dribble well and is usually good for an assist or two in his minimal minutes. He beats his man pretty easily. And pushes the ball up the floor quickly.
His defense and shooting is worrisome. This team hasn’t looked good offensively (where everyone is contributing) since SMU. I thought foster made a jump that game but seems to not be playing as free since then.

Found a new defensive weapon (going zone) and a new contributor in the rotation tonight with Ngongba

Please give Duke any combination of

Nc State
Wake Forest
Clemson
Louisville

in the ACC Tournament

what a mess.....Kon needs to rethink jacking it up all the time....Proctor has to contribute more...and no one seems to be running or leading this team....it shouldnt be Flagg carrying us every game...the last 2 games havent boosted my confidence in Scheyer's ability - we are the better pick up team at this point, thanks to athletism and talent.

Also, essentially halfway through- is Cooper the best freshman in Duke history? Thought I’d never even ask that after Zion.
I think Flagg is more mature. Not an insult to Zion. I didn't feel this way early, which I put more on Scheyer than him, but he is great at assessing situations. He knows when to be selfish and when not to be. Not a fan of his turnovers, but that can be worked out.

Not pretty at all. We are lucky to have Cooper, that’s obvious. Kon is just a solid player, but is a freshman. I know there’s a lot of talk about Foster’s lack of contribution, but there’s too many games in my opinion where Proctor doesn’t give us much offensively, and tonight was another. He had 4 points, 2 at the free throw line. He’s a junior. And I think he is way too passive.

Jon pulled another good move out again, going zone, which was enough to get State out of rhythm.

I don’t know that he is beating very many people off the dribble. Idk….

Wondering if this squad is more along the lines of the 1987/88 or 1988/89 Duke teams. Legit 2 seed, top 10 teams that did end up in the Final Four. Flagg is a more talented Danny Ferry, who also played with generally unimpressive guards himself, but they were a good defensive team and had a good (not great) cast. This team won’t have 7 or 8 losses like those teams (28-7, 28-8) but that’s thanks to the ACC this year while Ferry’s teams had to contend with great ACC Coaches.

Proctor has been bad lately offensively. Even at the FT line. Not gonna cut it in March.

The last two games have felt more late K like. Less assists per basket. Shorter bench minutes. More nba style of getting it to your top 2-3 guys in spots that they like the ball. The offense has not flowed and not looked like 90s K teams.

Did you know she was born a biological male and that Kon is adopted?
Yea Right GIF
