duke football news

the only person who said that is a guy who works for Rivals and we know how they feel about Duke football. that being said, if he keeps getting the rave reviews and moves up to a 4 star recruit like most people think will happen then who knows? this is part of fishing in deeper waters. the bigger schools have been having flips forever because if a player is very good then everyone wants them. when we were recruiting 2 star and lower/mid level 3 star in the recent past the flips were minimal because no one wanted them. now people see our recruits and go ''that is a player we could use''. so far Manny and his staff have been up to the task and when they have lost a player they seem to have a quality back up plan. QB is a position that right now we have 3 well regarded players on the roster but i have always thought a college football team should have at least 4 that can play. injuries happen. look at 2 years ago when both Riley and Henry got injured.

Surf, I know rankings are guesswork, but should we be a little concerned that Manny is still bringing in 3 star players and not 4 star? I mean the evaluators can't be all wrong.

i am fine with our recruiting. we just landed the highest composite class we have had last year and we are on an even better pace this year. we have been horrible in football for decades till 10-12 years ago and we have became respectable. we will never be bama or georgia or any school like that. we have great academics and that thins our recruiting pool big time. just enjoy what we have going on

so i was just reading after day 2 that Terry is now ranked overall at #7 at the Elite Eleven. they said his stock is the surprise riser and he was one of two qb's to get a perfect rating on a drill.
came in last on the accuracy drill but first on the pro drill whatever that is.
wherever he finishes it is a huge get for Duke. first recruit we have ever had invited and while he is having ups and downs it doesn't matter.

BOOM another on board
Jayden Boyd wr/cb 5'9'' 165lbs
might be the fastest guy we have ever recruited. 10.52 in the 100m, 21.15 in the 200m, 48.78 in the 400m and 23'10'' in the long jump
SC state champ in the 100, 200 and long jump in his high school career. has competed at national events
hudl reports a 4.3 in the 40
we need to put him in the slot. no one will or can match up with him
i think he is too ''short'' for the traditional powers but in our offense WOW

well it seems they are going to start Jayden at CB. now that he is a confirmed 5'11'' that is okay. 5'9'' was to short in my mind for that position. man with that speed it will be interesting to see. i don't expect anyone to get behind him.
I kind of like the slot position for him. The most noticeable difference between the teams that make the playoffs and the rest of the pack is the speed of the offensive receivers and RBs. I’d like to see us have some rug burners. That said, as Surf notes, having someone who can stick with other teams WRs is critical, and no question Manny is defense -oriented. Bottom line for me, if we can keep him committed, he can play any position they want him to and I’ll be happy!

Damn, it’s good to be thinking about football again!
