Its Rahm!!!

Congrats to Jon Rahm, for his dramatic turnaround win on the final day of The Masters. Rahm or ("Rambo,"lol), turned a four shot deficit to Brooks Koepka into a four shot win.

Rahm actually had time to mount a decisive comeback as the field teed off early to pack almost two days of action into Sunday. Rain soaked Augusta earlier and shut down play intermittently Friday and Saturday.

No real drama down the stretch however, as Jon had the major championship well in hand.Rahm is a PGA Tour regular and Koepka slipped into a 2nd place tie with fellow LIV Tour player Phil Mickelson.
Mickelson played well enough to become the OLDEST GOLFER (52) to finish second.

On strictly a personal note I was glad for Jon Rahm. Hes a PGA Tour guy as I mentioned. For me I was proud to see a member of the PGA win. I am a purist and have followed the tour since the 60s.(Snead, Palmer, Nicklaus, Player, etc).

Other games

I live out west and get to see a lot of Pac 12 games. Wanted to start a thread to discuss other games around the country. I find it interesting as they are teams we may have to face in the tournament.
UCLA lost to Illinios yesterday by 9. They look a bit thin up front with the top 25 freshman Bona their only decent big man. Jaquez and Tyger Campbell took 45 shots between them. Their top 10 freshman Amari Baily only had one point.
The Washington Huskies lost at home to California Baptist. Ouch. This is a terrible loss. Coach Hopkins may be on the hot seat if the Huskies fail to reach the postseason again.
Gonzaga got blown out at Texas this week. Their PG Hickman is not playing well and they seem to miss Holmgren more than expected. Malichi Smith, a SG transfer has been a disappointment so far and looks a step slow. I believe he was the top SG transfer prospect. Zags play Kentucky Sunday out in Spokane. It is a must win for both teams as Kentucky is coming off a loss to Michigan State.
Arizona State blew out Michigan this week. Good win for Hurley.
Syracuse lost to Colgate this week at home. Again. Ouch. I took a peek at their board and it's ugly. The general sentiment is that JB has outworn his welcome. Their freshman class is good, but not really instant impact guys. Girard is a huge liability on defense. There is a thread titled "burn it all down this is rock bottom" with 11 pages of comments.
Henry Coleman is averaging 14 and 9 for Texas A&M. They did lose this week after being ranked in the top 20. Coleman is a load down low and plays hard but still looks raw on offense. He looks like a good college player but probably not an NBA guy. Brakefield not doing much for Ole Miss. He had 7 in a win this week. he is averaging 8 and 4 on the season. I thought he would be a double digit scorer by now.

Pisgahs “official” end of the season thread

This will be my last thread called “official” until next season but I wanted to post a wrap up.

Duke ended the season
- 27-9
-ACC Champions
-undefeated at home
-7-3 neutral court
-4-6 away
Kyle filipowski lead Duke in scoring and rebounds and steals at 15.1, 8.9 and 1.3… Tyrese Proctor lead us in assist with 3.3 and Derek lively lead us in blocks at 2.4

All in all I count this season as a success. We were two bad calls (uva and VT) from winning the ACC outright and likely having a 2 seed. If those things happened or we get a fair whistle agains UT I think we were playing another weekend. From where we were in Jan to where we finished I don’t think anyone would complain except maybe Koach. The future looks extremely good and i for one am pumped for next season! But I also want to encourage all the posters here to stick around in the off-season. A portion of us stay around and it makes it better with more people. I really like where the board is now and want it to continue to flourish!

Also want to thank @timo0402 for letting me post the game day threads. I really enjoyed it and hope I didnt screw up too much and get to keep my job! Haha

Sonny Vaccaro interview on The Herd - "Air" film

Starts slow
go to @ 6 mins

Clip ends but Sonny praises his good friends Tarkanian and John Thompson, as his favorite/best coaches because in my words their ability to connect culturally to their roster. Buy in.

Herd's last comment is being in the media room after UNLV blew our Blue Devils off the court. And he quotes Coach K praising Tarkanian i'm paraphrasing "Everyone talks of their talent but I've never seen a team buy in more to their coach. They are scary defensively. I wish my team was this way...". He concludes that Jerry was in the same room listening and became emotional to hear Coach K say those words. Sonny nodded in agreement.

Confession time fellas

Tarrrrrrr........Heeeeeels!!!!!

Here we go Tar Heels, Here we go!!!! Guys I have pulled what I believe to be THE BEST TROLL JOB EVER the last several years, as a Dook fan. I am in fact a regular (under another name of course) on THR and IC.

I can't get enough UNC, I love my Heels, and yes this season under Hubert sucked for me!!!

Insider’s Thread: DT commit Preston Watson ready to recruit for Duke

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Blue Devils wrapped up three-star defensive tackle Preston Watson on Feb. 10, and now the 2024 Florida prospect is trying to wrap up other Duke targets. Watson gave an update on his status with the Blue Devils from the Miami-Rivals camp over the weekend ahead of an upcoming visit to Durham.

Watson spoke about why the Blue Devils are his ideal next level fit.

“I looked at the program last year, they did so well going 9-4 winning the Military Bowl,” Watson said. “Their d-line coach (Jess Simpson), he coached one of my favorite players in the league, Grady Jarrett; he has a lot of experience.

“With coach (Mike) Elko, he was the defensive coordinator for Texas A&M during their good defensive years and he was the defensive coordinator for Georgia Tech during their good defensive years; I’m a defensive guy, it felt like a fit for me. And it is great academically.”

Watson is ready to recruit other top prospects.

“I am going up there next week,” Watson shared. “There will be some committed players there and some who have not committed yet; they told me to put my recruiting cap on, that’s what I will try to do. I’m just trying to get as many people on board as possible.”

McDonald's All-American Game

This kind of snuck up on me, but tonight is the McDonald's All-America Game. Starts at 9 p.m. on ESPN.

Sean Stewart won the dunk contest and Jared McCain won the 3-point contest, both last night. Mackenzie Mgbako is also there; remember that Caleb Foster and TJ Power were left off of the roster.

Mgbako and Stewart are on the East roster; McCain is on the West.

Post along thoughts/observations here as you watch tonight and I'll do the same.
