FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Blue Devils wrapped up three-star defensive tackle Preston Watson on Feb. 10, and now the 2024 Florida prospect is trying to wrap up other Duke targets. Watson gave an update on his status with the Blue Devils from the Miami-Rivals camp over the weekend ahead of an upcoming visit to Durham.
Watson spoke about why the Blue Devils are his ideal next level fit.
“I looked at the program last year, they did so well going 9-4 winning the Military Bowl,” Watson said. “Their d-line coach (Jess Simpson), he coached one of my favorite players in the league, Grady Jarrett; he has a lot of experience.
“With coach (Mike) Elko, he was the defensive coordinator for Texas A&M during their good defensive years and he was the defensive coordinator for Georgia Tech during their good defensive years; I’m a defensive guy, it felt like a fit for me. And it is great academically.”
Watson is ready to recruit other top prospects.
“I am going up there next week,” Watson shared. “There will be some committed players there and some who have not committed yet; they told me to put my recruiting cap on, that’s what I will try to do. I’m just trying to get as many people on board as possible.”
