The New Lounge

Though the democrats do it with more vile. It is also a republican tactic.
The latest example was the republicans chastising the left for not supporting a veteran named bill. Who knows what else was in there that the left didn’t like, but you label it like that to go after the other side. I hate when both sides do it. Bills should be one item and one item only. “Infrastructure bill” which was 99% non infrastructure related. Vote against it and you don’t care about your communities roads and bridges. So disingenuous.

Exactly. Stand alone bills should be the only legal way to pass bills into legislation. It keeps both sides from playing stupid games.

The infrastructure bill on top of the inflation reduction act are so riddled with corruption, they make all African nations blush.

Are they not everyday Americans?
"Not many in the end" as in not many everyday Americans in the grand scheme of things. Not sure how that came off as me saying they weren't everyday Americans.

I suspect they’d find a new stupid game to play. With US House districts being so gerrymandered, Reps have no incentive to do anything but play to their base.

Yes, stand-alone legislation would be great, but it’s not among the first 100 steps toward fixing anything.

If you ever had a chance to listen to that Ted Talk I shared, Chimamanda Adichie addresses the perception of corrupt African govts.

It’s a state initiative. Is your answer based on the entire US population?

Elaborate.

My answer was pretty cut and dry. Not a huge number of everyday Americans. But yes, some in the state of Massachusetts. Why is this controversial?

the other side of the coin...no pun intended. These types of targeted tax policies rarely work the way they are expected, as those who have built that wealth didnt do so by being stupid. Beware of unintended consequences.

"If even a small percentage of high earners and entrepreneurs leave the state, shift their business investments elsewhere, or choose other states in which to launch their startups, the effects start to add up—and spread—quickly. An analysis from the business-friendly Tax Foundation suggests that the state’s gross domestic product (GDP) will fall by roughly $6 billion by the end of 2025—a contraction of nearly $6 million a day for three years."

A good article outline the potential perils of this policy. It remains to be seen what happens long term

And other examples

Eh. I’ve been reading and watching stuff about how corrupt the institution of philanthropy is. It is too linked to the personal interests of the out of touch Uber-rich. At least the elected officials in charge of spending tax money are theoretically responsible to the public. They’re all corrupt, though, for sure.

It’s a state initiative that will benefit every single Massachusetts family with a child in public school.

You’re deliberately downplaying it because you’re so invested in protecting rich people’s money.

What the fvck are you talking about? I haven't downplayed it at all. Unless by wondering what else is in the bill would be considered downloading it. Lol at me being invested in protecting rich people's money. What a dramatic take. The government takes from the rich and the middle class. What do they do with that money? They sure as hell don't give it to the poor. They're more likely to fund foreign wars with it. Or at least say that's what they're doing. Nothing more profitable than a foreign war.

Meh. Forget it. I understand my point, but it’s admittedly a bit convoluted. Sorry. Standing down.

Wondering what else is in the bill is 100% legit and fair.

So for the 'tax the rich' guys. As if they're not taxed. If they do a millionaire's/billionaire's tax. Would you request that the federal government gives a detailed, itemized list as to where every dollar taxed is spent?

Personally, I wish they did that with the current tax system.

That would require some one in the fed government to do a sh- ton of work so that’s a no go

On the fed note. The current regime, on top of hiring what, 80,000 new IRS agents??? They decided that federal tax collectors should be armed. Nothing totalitarian about this. But anyways, it's going great.

I think this has been fact checked...the Criminal Investigations Division...investigate acute issues of tax fraud and evasion...makes up about 3% of the IRS w/ about 2100 special agents that are law enforcement officers " investigate and arrest criminals, some accused of violent crimes or associated with organized crime and narcotics trafficking"

Liberals love to talk about fact checks. There can be 5 logical points made and they will find one that has an irrelevant sector that has been "fact checked" out of context and use that subjective and biased assertion to completely delegitimize the rest of the points. It's a lazy and overplayed tactic. Not to mention, most times their sensationalized points of view are destroyed by fact checks, ironically.

The libs believe what they’re told to believe, and the tv is probably at least 90% in their favor.
Anyone that doesn’t buy the garbage they spew is full of shit, right wing nut jobs, Trump butt kissers…

They refuse to think for themselves, and they are loyal like a dog to their party. Them being loyal is almost admirable.

Case in point is our oatmeal for brains President, and his incompetent, word salad bs VP.
As bad as the Republican Party is, we all know they’d never put such a candidate like Biden out there, but they’d never get away with it!

They make the movie Weekend At Bernie’s look like a true story.

so is it correct or wrong? or does it matter? or does it go against the idea you pushing?.....it appears to be an armed specialized division (law enforcement officers, not everyday irs agents) that has a clear intent and if "you" ever come across them, "you" are definitely involved in some criminal enterprise or something.....looking into something to search out its validity is lazy?.....and its been around since 1919, prob same division that took Capone down?

The IRS is now revered by the Left, right after race hustlers and doctors who castrate young boys. Not surprising after Lois Lerner and now the Hunter debacle The thought of these agents carrying firearms is like Viagra to some on this board. Get those evil rich!

not by me, but is the division a brand new concoction or is a division that been around basically forever....could be wrong, but I get the vibe of regular irs workers toting guns scaring citizens into paying taxes when its clearly not

The Dems want to paint the delusional picture that our country’s in massive debt due to tax cheats, not bc we pay hundreds of billions of $ for overseas wars and not much less to take care of millions of immigrants with no discernible skills. If you think this is an exaggeration, Eric Adams says that it’s costing NYC alone 12 billion this year. Whatever taxes illegals pay (assuming they work) is dwarfed by their housing and medical costs Estimated that half of immigrants in NYC don’t find work until their housing time limit is about to expire.

This is one of many examples as to where you want to grab a liberal around the neck, and squeeze while shaking them, while you scream at them “can’t you see what’s happening!??!”

They just refuse to give an inch. Truly sad how trained they are. I’m sure @BOOGIEMAN1914 will either spin this better than a washing machine, or not respond for a week. All the while probably lurking for the right post to disagree with.

i don't spin, i ask and question..........yep, read pretty much all and choose what I want to dabble in, what would be wrong with...i dont push anything on here and definitely dont contribute to outright falsifications

Ghost posted about gun toting IRS agents.....well there are about 3%/2100 gun toting IRS Special Agents in a specialized division that investigates much higher levels of criminal fraud and evasion....it seems as if its pushed that regular ole irs agents packing

I made a tongue and cheek comment, albeit a factual comment, about how the current regime wants to arm the IRS. Then the fact checker claim came that really made no point to the topic I was bringing up. I don't care if it is 3% or 50%. It is amusing that the same regime that wants the citizens to give the government back their guns, is actively arming irs agents. And it would also be amusing, if it weren't so scary, that there is no real push back against this. That instead of having issues with it. Someone just lost their life due to the policy, btw. There are fact checkers. Haha. You can't make this shit up.

Our city streets are full of homeless people, drug addicts, criminals violent and non violent alike, and garbage. Our inner city schools can't get a single student to pass a basic literary test, broken homes with starving children, unsafe neighborhoods for kids to play in. And a growing population of people who are going backwards financially from this time last year, or the year before. The middle class hasn't grown proportionately since the 1950's. And what is our government investing in? Housing illegal immigrants, funding a money laundering scheme in Ukraine, and the IRS. But as long as there is a D next to our fearless leader's name, we will not complain. Because as bad as all of what I listed sounds, it could be worse. We could have a conservative president.

Perfect example of their refusal to give an inch is they blame San Frans doom loop entirely on Covid It is a factor but not as much as their soft on crime policies

i get some of what you are saying, but this division has been around since 1919, its not new, it just wasn't made up during Biden....its been there, its armed special agents that is law enforcement officers that handled the big criminal dangerous stuff...not ordinary IRS agents....thats all im saying.....sad that someone died during training

If you watched only the legacy media, you would be blissfully ignorant of all you mentioned. The media always provides cover for Dems’ failed policies. That’s the stubborn beauty of inflation. Everyone feels it, whether Cnn covers it or not

If it’s not new why are so many having to be trained right now?

been around since 1919, celebrated its 100 year in 2019....I would gather these federal agents have always trained and done their jobs investigating criminals and organizations and into todays political climate it has been made to believe that and army of gun toting IRS agents are coming for average, ordinary people.....now if you running a racket, you may need to worry

IRS-CI Special Agents (GS-1811 Job Series) are commonly called criminal investigators. Special agent training begins with the Special Agent Basic Training Program (SABT) at the Federal Law Enforcement Academy (FLETC) in Glynco, Georgia. New special agents attend approximately six months of training including Pre-Basic Orientation Training Program (PB, Phase 1), Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP, Phase 2), Special Agent Investigative Techniques (SAIT, Phase 3) and On-the-Job Training (OJT, Phase 4). Special agents must satisfactorily complete the SAIT to retain employment with IRS-CI.[12]

IRS-CI Special Agents are the only employees within the IRS authorized to carry and use firearms. The authority to carry and use firearms is derived from United States Code Title 26, Section 7608, wherein criminal investigators of the IRS are authorized to make arrests under Federal law. Special agents are trained in the use of and currently issued Glock handguns, specifically Glock 19M and 26 self-loading pistols. Remington 870 shotguns and Smith and Wesson M&P15 rifles are also officially issued and deployed.[13] Special agents assigned to undercover activities may carry and use virtually any common firearm.

IRS-CI Special Agents are trained to execute arrest and search warrants and conduct authorized undercover operations, including technical surveillance. Consistent with the safe conduct of such operations, special agents are trained in building-entry and non-lethal defensive tactics training, in harmony with current Federal law enforcement use-of-force training. Special agents also serve as dignitary protection staff and in air marshal roles.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Justin T. Cole, Director at the Office of Communication at IRS Criminal Investigation, told Reuters via email that special agents investigate criminal tax violations and other financial crimes such as money laundering, bank secrecy, national security and national defense matters.

“There are about 3,000 employees in CI, 2,100 of which are special agents and the remaining professional staff,” Cole said. “Only special agents carry firearms.” For context, there were 81,600 total IRS employees in fiscal year 2021 (here).

Cole said that a majority of IRS’s tax administration is done by civilian auditors and revenue collectors and that in fiscal year 2021, the efforts of the criminal investigation unit resulted in the identification of more than $10 billion in tax fraud and other financial crimes.

“In terms of hiring, CI hopes to be able to hire 300-350 Special Agents during the course of this entire fiscal year – and we lose between 150-175 agents every year to retirement and attrition,” Cole said. “So even 350 agents would only net us a gain of 150-175 agents over the course of an entire year.”

The IRS CI is also not a new IRS branch created with the budget from the Inflation Reduction Act. It has been around since 1919, originally called the Intelligence Unit, and modeled after the role of Post Office Inspectors (here). Examples of high profile cases can be seen (here).

Both sides work together? This is fairy tale talk. It can’t happen the way as long as the media is like it is.
They want division. Case in point: Trump. He did good things. But the media was out to ruin him as soon as he got sworn in in January of 2017.

You’ll disagree with me, I’m sure. But if you put the accomplishments of the last 3 Presidents, with no name beside them, you’d pick Trump as the best.

Unfortunately, the idea of both sides being able to work together for the better of our society is more of a fairytale than Snow White. The people running the democratic party are actively destroying the middle class. They're putting illegal immigrants ahead of the lower class Americans. Their policies on drugs and crimes are creating the conditions on the streets.

The problems in the inner city schools are because of corrupt school boards and strategically mapped school districts and their mind numbing efforts to fight against school choice. It is one of the many, many reasons why it is completely out of this world idiotic that the black community still overwhelmingly vote democrat. But the democrats have successfully made black people vote on single issues by convincing them that the right is racist. Thankfully, it seems that there is a large movement where black people are waking up.

For all the people who believe that in 2023 systemic racism exists in America, who is responsible? How do we fix it? (Moving off the OP obviously. Lol) I think I would start with liberal policies within inner cities. Not really on a federal scale, more on the local scale like councilmen and school board members to the D.A.s on the topic of crime. Is there a well intended defense for these people? Genuinely curious.

Unemployment low, lowest ever for blacks, gas under $3, then $2/gallon, people had more in their retirement/401k’s, border being secured, peace deal in the Middle East, no wars, no word (trouble) out of Isis, North Korea, Ukraine, Russia…

This is just real quick off the top of my head. I’m sure I missed some.

Now your turn: what’s Biden’s accomplishments?
