The New Lounge

Pages of this thread going on about social/unimportant stuff. That I did bring up, I will admit. But nobody wants to touch on the rising gas prices, disproportionate from the supply and demand btw. High grocery bills, high retail prices and record low employment participation. Record debt, record credit card debt, near record housing costs, record monthly payments on new vehicles. Ect ect ect.

Big corporations are to blame, right?
Rising gas prices? Due to record heat a lot of refineries have had to cut production due to it being less than safe to keep producing.

Unemployment has fallen almost every month since 2021, idk where you're getting that there's record low employment participation.

Grocery prices are absurd because of like 857 different reasons.

Debt/credit card debt are going up because the price of literally everything is going up.

Record housing costs are again a combination of things, a big one is all this increase in prices is affecting landlords bottom lines and those bloodsuckers naturally pass that off to their tenants.

As far as like homeownership being so expensive idk. I don't pay attention to that because no matter how much I work, home ownership will never apply to me.

Lot of words. Little relevant points. You do know the unemployment numbers are a result of the low employment participation, right? They don't tell the story, but potato Joe sure loves to brag about it.

As far as homeownership never applying to you... Why? Build your credit, buy a house. No matter how expensive it seems, it is far less expensive than renting a house and it builds equity. Refinance when the rates go down. There are plenty of no money down options.

I didn't say anywhere that everyone should still be wearing them and I've said that I personally do not wear them anymore. But who the **** cares if someone else does? Stop being a prick and focus on your own issues.
If they’re as effective as you say they are and Covid is still deadly to the average person under 60 as the Left pretended for two years, why wouldn’t you still be wearing a mask? Seems like a small price to pay to save lives

Inflation will get worse when a gradual increase of 18 wheelers over time have to go electric with an average range of 300 miles compared to a gas run vehicle which can go a 12 hour shift easily without stopping to refill. Unsure how long it takes an 18 wheeler to charge up, but everything’s about to get more expensive thanks to the climate warriors of the Dem Party

Unemployment rate vs labor participation....not the same but related. This article will help explain the difference.
Basically work eligible people have stopped looking for work...so they dont count as unemployed but lower the labor participation rate.

So the goverment was ready to offer a plea deal with no investigation for Hunter. Judge blows that apart and now we have an "investigation". Now all the responses will be we are investigating and it will limit the information the judicial committee can get. Also interested to see how slow this train goes.

Did you read it?

"There are still few uncertainties in the practice of face mask use, such as who should wear the mask and how long it should be used for. In theory, transmission should be reduced the most if both infected members and other contacts wear masks, but compliance in uninfected close contacts could be a problem (12,34). Proper use of face masks is essential because improper use might increase the risk for transmission (39). Thus, education on the proper use and disposal of used face masks, including hand hygiene, is also needed."

The article also states that the tests they pulled their data from were small sample sizes and had poor compliance for actually wearing the masks.
Lmfao genius, you picked THAT out as a supportive statement? Sweet mother you’re an ignorant dolt. Way to skip over the conclusive direction😂 all while ignoring the significant difference in influenza and sars co v 2 (where masks would be significantly more effective, which as already shown, is minimal overall lol)

Masks don’t work, plain and simple. Next you’ll tell me masks are worn in the OR to prevent transmission of viruses 😂😂😂

U/e has fallen? You mean labor participation is down significantly. Nice try.

And the heat and refineries statement is comedic gold. Absolute lunacy.

I have 17 rentals - I’m a bloodsucker? Please elaborate.

You're a landlord too? Well that explains ****ing everything. Landlords by and large charge outrageous prices for bare minimum living conditions, ignore repair requests, tack on ridiculous fees, and in general do everything they can to take advantage of their tenants.

That's on top of being a landlord in the first place. Buying up properties that you do not need so you can turn a disgustingly large profit off of others not being able to afford a proper home. With the added issue of eating up property that could be used for affordable housing. Landlords are in a complete class of scum all their own.

Obviously there are exceptions, but not near enough to justify the existence of landlords in the first place. And I'm a socialist, not a communist. Dumbass.

The landlords you describe are the exception. Not sure why you are demonizing people who own property as rentals. It's called the free market, brutha. More so, capitalism. And THIS is why you are demonizing them.

Really? The exception? That is not the experience of most renters lol. And personally 4 of the 5 landlords I've dealt with have been exactly as I've described. And yeah, I'm gonna demonize anyone who exploits the poor in the name of the almighty dollar. **** capitalism. It does not work for the majority of the people who live under it.

Nice blanket statement. I have tenants where I haven’t raised rent in over 5 years. And all of my property issues are handled promptly. There goes your ignorant, futile theory.

Yes, you’re a communist. Thank you for confirming. You’re painfully angry living in America. Why not leave?

Look man. You're going to take this the wrong way. But if you have had 5 landlords in your time as an adult, you have pissed so much money away on something that you get nothing in return for. Terrible financial decisions.

The fact that the majority of people who live under capitalism, live comfortably, I'd say your assessment is wrong. And it comes from a place of anger and resentment. I am not amused by your struggles, don't get it wrong. But I am amused that the democrats in all of their years with full control have done nothing for the lower class and people like you still fall for their grifting. The republicans have shitty policies, but overall they want you to be able to provide for yourself.

The majority of people in this country do not live comfortably. Or else we wouldn't be that worried about the price of everything would we? Most live paycheck to paycheck or worse.

At what point have democrats had full control of the government? And who said democrats are the solution anyway? Democrats aren't the solution to these problems. They have better policies than Republicans by a mile but by large these older democrats that are still in power aren't going to solve our issues. They're just not going to mash the accelerator on ****ing everything up either and that's why we have to vote for them.

Vote blue no matter who isn't a ringing endorsement of democrats, it's a resounding condemnation of Republicans.

The average household income in our country is $97k/yr the median is $69k/yr. If that isn't most people living comfortably, then we are expecting too much and not living a modest and healthy life.

If you can’t succeed in the United States you’re either a dumbass or lazy piece of sh!t. When I graduated college my wife and I moved our belongings in a pickup truck. We were both teachers. She got her masters and moved up the ladder. I worked an extra job every day and on Saturday’s. Now we have a nice 2900 sq ft home and a park model near the beach. Yeah capitalism sucks. Refer back to the first sentence and see if you can figure out which one you are. I think it’s probably both.

As you pointed out with low unemployment numbers and how they are skewed by a lower employment participation rate, household income is skewed by inflation. If President Biden were citing average household income, I'm sure you'd bring that up yourself.

From earlier...
I'm not budging on what I said about Rep Bush's tweet.
Claiming you support consequences for President Trump just like anyone else should he be found guilty is completely walked back when you then start bleating conspiracy theories about witch hunts.

Perfect example of equating money and character, which is absolute crap.

You and I are in the same age bracket. I hope someone throat punches me if I ever start using my own experiences as a way of silencing someone else's experience. How it worked out for us back in the day has nothing to do with younger people's results for the same efforts today.

You have only based your statements off of your own personal experience and feelings. Do you ever wonder why immigrants that come here from socialist and communist countries always celebrate the freedoms that Americans offer and never have anything good to say about the governments from the countries they left to come here?

I came from a shit household with 3 siblings and a mother living in a single bedroom apartment. I did have help going to college, but only because I put the work in in HS. Our family has mixed results. I have an older brother that is a detective for the sheriff's department who is doing well. I am by no means, rich but a better success story than most with my upbringing. I have a younger brother who thinks like the liberals here who is a junkie that begs for money on street corners. And I have a sister that sadly followed my younger brother's footsteps and is no longer with us. Two of us worked hard and made something of ourselves despite starting with absolutely nothing. And one of us has a chip on his shoulder and acts like this country owes him something other than an opportunity to provide for himself. The 4th one, we'll never know. So the idea that capitalism is the issue and not ethics and willingness to make sacrifices is a dumb one.

Every single link you posted, re masks, was a hypothetical outcome, full of possible, maybe, etcetera.

“In community settings, however, cloth masks may be used to prevent community spread of infections by sick or asymptomatically infected persons, and the public should be educated about their correct use.”

Just one example lol. Swing. Miss.

I appreciate your openness with something so personal.

I disagree with you about the ratio of external factors to personal choices as determinants of outcomes. I trust we both see the role of each, in varying degree. And if either of us is claiming an exact ratio, let alone an exact ratio for everyone, we're selling snakeoil.
