This team has a lot to be proud of. I looked back at the performance of defending champions dating back to UF's back-to-back championships in 06-07.
08 UF - NIT
09 Kansas - Sweet 16
10 UNC - NIT
11 Duke - Sweet 16
12 UConn - 1st round
13 UK - NIT
14 Louisville - Sweet 16
15 UConn - NIT
16 Duke - Sweet 16

No defending champ in that time has made it past the Sweet Sixteen, and four them - including blue blood programs like UK and UNC - didn't even make the NCAA Tournament the next year. For this group to suffer those defections and a catastrophic injury and to still win 25 games and win multiple tournament games is outstanding. Couple that with the potential #1 team next year, and I feel pretty good.

Not to belabor, but my curiosity was peaked. Outside of the Florida repeat, only one defending champion this century has advanced past the Sweet 16: the 2001 Michigan State team made it back to the Final Four.
