Thanks Sky- awesome question.....

Who hosted the old "Shell's Wonderful World of Golf" series? Hint:He was a formidable force on the PGA tour in his era.

OFC

Gene Sarazen, the Squire. A diminutive man, slightly larger than a jockey. He made a double eagle on the 15th hole en route to a win at the Master's. He had a slightly grating voice, but he seemed to enjoy it

Sarazen was one of the hosts, no doubt and that is close enough for me ged! The other one who I had in mind was the great Jimmy Demaret. You are up my friend. Actually I saw the two co-host occasionally as well! OFC

Thank you very much. Demaret was fabulous. He was even good on "I Love Lucy" when he taught Lucy and Ethel some crazy rules for golf. I hated " I Love Lucy", but his episode was good

Here is a super softball for Duke football fans. Who was the Duke running back who somehow mauled the entire front seven of Clemson on a five yard TD run in late September 1989 to help Duke upset the number 7 team in the country?

Who hosted a trivia based syndicated sports game show back in roughly 70s time period called "The Sports Challenge??" OFC

You probably have to be OFC to get this one. The Pacific-8 Conference was created in 1968. The conference had essentially the same members ( Stanford, UCLA, Oregon...) since being founded in 1919. The conference had two very different names between 1919 and 1968. An answer of either of the other two names for the conference will be correct

Correct! skysdad is up! Pacific Coast Conference for 40 years and then the Amateur Association of Western Universities for ten years

skysdad, I don't remember his name. I'm 99% certain that he played for Maryland. And I'm 97% certain that Charlie Scott at UNC was second

Al Geiberger was Mr. 59. At Memphis, I believe. Seemed like a great fellow. His adopted son, Brent had success on the PGA tour. I didn't know about the Skippy peanut butter. I remember how happy Chip Beck looked years later when he matched the 59 in Las Vegas

Good job ged. I always liked Al.As you said "he seemed like a great fellow." Brent indeed had some success. You mentioned Chip Beck and his 59, and then I think Jim Furyk shot a 58 two-three years ago.

Yes Al Geiberger was known for packing a peanut butter sandwich in his golf bag, and using it as quick energy boosting snack. Skippy signed Al to a deal and he did a television ad. You are up my friend! OFC

Who is the Italian-American boxer nicknamed the Bleeder? His best known fight was a 1979 split decision against Marvin Hagler that allowed him to keep his undisputed Middleweight championship. His last name starts with A. He even grew a beard to try to keep his face from bleeding so easily
