OT: Sports trivia part 2.

The only player that I can think of is Frank Jackson because I remember there being talk of the possibility of him going on his 2 year mission trip during his first 2 years at Duke. I have no clue who the other 3 were.

I think Chris Burgess.

I’ll guess Taymon Donzalski as the other.
Interesting fact about Taymon Domzalski that I found on his Wikipedia page. After he retired from playing professional basketball he returned to Duke and enrolled into the School of Medicine and after graduating he went on to become a physician and he’s currently practicing medicine in California. He’s the only scholarship player to ever play for Coach K that has gone on to become a physician.

Three have been named. Jackson, Christensen and Burgess. The 4th one is also playing in the NBA right now. I've got to run to Durham for a check up and if no one has it by the time I leave I'll have to check when I get back . The poster who gets the last one can answer the next question. Hart wake up before someone beats you to it. OFC

Looks like all the answers have been given. Jabari was the missing one.

Chase Jeter's stepmom is also LDS. Not sure if Chase was really involved with the LDS Church, though.

Name the two players who played under K at Duke who are deceased.

I don’t think it’s more than 2, but if it is, 2 will do.

In the sports news this week we'very heard a lot about 15 year old tennis sensation Coco Gauf who upset Serena Williams. The youngest NFL player to play in an NFL game is Tremaine Edward's at 19. The youngest NBA player was Secours Doumbouya at 18. Youngest NHL player was Bep Guildolin at 16. The question is who was the youngest MLB player to play, what position and what MLB team did he debut for. OFC

Tim McCarver, catcher, St. Louis Cardinals

No not Tim. Quite a bit younger than Tim was. Hint #1 was that he was still in high school. Hint #2. The reason he was in the majors is there was a shortage players at that time to fill major league rosters. OFC

With the All-star game coming up, I will go with one that surprised me that I saw at the ballpark just this past weekend.

Who was the leading vote getter from fans for the first MLB All-Star game?

Not Cy Young. Not sure if starting pitchers were on the ballot, but in any event it was a position player. ( I was surprised they had a fan vote, and did not get the top vote getter even after multiple guesses).

The first game was played in 1933, and the starting lineups were voted on by fans throughout the nation using a ballot in their cities newspaper.

No correct answer yet (I did not get it either at the game).I was at a White Sox game, when the trivia question was given. He played for the White Sox that year, but was better known for playing on another team for most of his hall of fame career.

Jimmy Dykes 3rd baseman. Went 2 for 3 w 1 rbi. Ruth got hosed in the voting. Home team advantage.

My guy played for Bill Murray. Your answers may also be correct . I believe Slade only scored 2 tds in 1973. Cannot find box score for 9/15/73 game vs UT when Duke lost 21-17.
