OT: Sports trivia part 2.

Joe Kapp . OFC
You got it " the toughest Chicano" as Sports Illustrated dubbed him on one of their covers...lol

He was a true character, and another "other" sport star who also played college hoops while at Cal as well.

You are up Sky

He was tough as nails. Didn't mind getting hit and loved to hit. Could have been a line backer.

Who was the 1st. black player to play for the Boston Red Sox. OFC

JI'm Marshall. Vikings OFC

Funny story that came from that and I'm notrying sure whether it is fact or lore, AfterMarshall came to the bench realizing his blunder his coach said at least you threw the ball out of bounds giving the 49er's only 2 points. You could have layer the ball down and if they recovered ithe would have been a touch down for them. Marshall then replied. " No , I'm too smart for that." OFC

Next question. Oregon wide reciever was drafted into the 1972 NFL draft. This one has a few parts. Which team drafted Moore. He was eventually traded. Who did the Cards trade him to. Who did he eventually end his career with and last but not least what famous television actress and t.v. mom did he marry? OFC

Ahmad Rashad. He was drafted by St. Louis. I can't remember if they traded him to the Vikings or not, but I'll say they did. He was married to Clair Huxtable.

You are on to me dj. They traded him to the Bills and then he did end his career with the Vikings where he excelled. He later married his wife Phyliss who did play Clair Huxtable on The Cosby Show. You are up because you caught me trying to deceive by using his birth name.

If I wasn't a Vikings fan that one might have slipped by me, but the TV mom thing kind of sealed it.

Bill Buckner passed away earlier in the week at just 69 years old. He was obviously most famous for the error in game six of the 1986 World Series (despite being one helluva ballplayer)....

Four-part question....

1. Who hit the ball Buckner booted?
2. Who was pitching at the time for the Red Sox?
3. Who scored the winning run on the play for the Mets?
4. And lastly, what was the final score of the game?

I think Mookie Wilson was the batter and the final score was 3-2. OFC

Calvin Schraldi was pitching. ( I think he threw a wild pitch earlier in the at bat to tie the game, with Kevin Mitchell scoring before Mookie hit the infamous ground ball to Billy Buckner).

Ray Knight scored.

Not sure of final score...5-4 ????

It wasn't Schraldi pitching.

Mookie hit the ground ball. Knight scored. The final wasn't 5-4, it was actually 6-5.

Still looking for the pitcher. Billieball must not be around today. I kind of figured this would be an easy one for him.

I haven't seen billieball in a while. He's the best but at least some others are getting a shot at it. OFC

Yeah, I started to doubt Schraldi, he was the goat more then Buckner to me if I recall he imploded with the lead, but I think they hooked him. I have two guys I'm thinking of that came in.

I cheated. I know who the pitcher was. I couldn't help it. With that said I disqualify my self and want to get this one over with. OFC

I was rooting for the Mets and it was a great series. Not a Mets fan ( White Sox), but liked that group for NY. I always said Schraldi choked that one away, the game was already tied after blowing a 3 run lead in the 9th when Buckner put the nail in the coffin.

Two of the most famous home runs of all time were Aaron's 715th and Bill Mazarowski's world series walk off.

The left fielders who watched the ball sail over their heads are both well known players.

Who were the two left fielders with the best view in the house for these historic home runs?

I know it was Yogi Berra who watched Maz's home run. Maris played right field. Don't know about Aaron's. I'll go with Hart and say Davis.

Liftee your answer on Maris playing right makes most sense most leftys seemingly are placed in right. Good job on Yogi. I am going to change my answer on Davis to Dusty Baker. OFC

Can we have a joint entry? If Hart is correct on Baker, and I'm correct on Berra, then let Hart have the next question. I can't think of a good one offhand anyhow.

Additional trivia from an old Yankee fan--Maz's shot was such a liner that Kubek at short actually jumped thinking he could catch it before it continued to rise right over Yogi's head.

Wow that is good trivia on the missile by Maz Liftee! Listen, I appreciate it, but I think you should throw out a question too! OFC
