OT: Sports trivia part 2.

Is billieball up? OFC

He’s up but it’s been 24hrs. I don’t know who has the right-of-way to ask the next question, but I’ll post a question just to keep things flowing so we aren’t playing a continuous waiting game. If that’s not cool then just ignore my post.

This past year Virginia went bananas from 3PT range in one of their games. Their big 3 (Guy, Jerome, Hunter) were 18-23 from behind the arc. As a team in total they finished 18-25.
Question — Who was Virginia’s opponent?

3 part question.
1. Which player did Dean Smith devise his version of the 4 corners to best showcase?
2. Which recruit did Lefty make a trip to UNC to accuse Smith of stealing?
3. Which Maryland player in warmup was making shots and pocketing the cash when Duke students would put dollar bills 25 ft or so from the basket. Last shot was 40 feet or so and was for 5 bucks.I was at there and it was something to see.

First answer wrong.
1965-66 was when he first used that offense.
Hint. Bubas lost out on this recruiting war for this gritty left handed player.

You are right. Bubas hated losing Miller to UNC. Duke had gone to FInal Four 3 out of 4 years . Smith really got it going with Lewis, Miller , Bunting and Rusty Clark. Duke began taking a back seat to UNC for many years. I was there and I hated it.

True, the good thing was Vic kept beating Dean for the most part in DIS during that time in some unbelievable finishes to the season. Whether it was Freddy Lind or Steve Vandenberg, etc Bubas kept pulling out the wins in Durham over a superior UNC squad in his latter years. Bubas had a '68-69 team which nearly pulled off the upset over a superior Davidson team led by Wildcats standout center Mike Malloy in Charlotte. Lost in OT after sophomore Dick DeVenzio rimmed out an 80 ft buzzer shot in regulation. Dickie had 30+ points that game... OFC

Went back and checked old scores. Forgot that for 3 years straight UNC won regular season, ACC tournament and made it to Final Four from 1967-1969.
They barely beat Davidson in 2 of those years in tournament. Malloy was heck of a player for Davidson.

Malloy was a stud! Charlie Scott had a buzzer beater in one of those East Regional games to beat Wildcats. OFC

3 parter.

1. What NFL pk threw an interception in a Super Bowl.
2. Who intercepted .
3. What was the result of the interception.

OFC

Hint: Griese is correct for Miami. The qb for Washington wore #17 and was unfortunately idolized by head coach George Allen.... OFC

That's Billy Kilmer only because you gave me his #. I thought Theisman was QB by that time. That was so long ago I get the players mixed up. OFC

Kilmer had played at New Orleans before then and was only fair. I didnt think he was much better at Washington, but Allen had a serious dislike for Sonny Jurgensen I never understood. Didnt know anybody but Allen who ever disliked Jurgy who was one of the NFL's best and great guy....Jurgy was hurt and unable to play, but Allen normally started Billy over Sonny. OFC

Never would have got it if you had not give the #.

Let's go back to Garo. Garo actually played for 3 more NFL teams other than the Dolphins. Name two of them. OFC
