Right now they feel that they have a good shot at getting Knox so he is being portrayed as someone who has a different mindset than the typical OAD. I wonder how that will change if he does"t pick UNC.I guess he will be brainwashed by self-serving handlers or some other shady goings on that only Gary"S mafia is privy to.

I sure it will be " Knox knew where he was going all along. K told him just to string along UNC so it hurt UNC's recruiting. K and Knox are worthless and terrible people."

Yep, until he chooses a school other than the Holes they will keep spouting off about how Knox is different than most OAD's and wants to leave his own mark. Lol. They know absolutely nothing about him or what in hell he is thinking but this makes their pea brains feel better as they convince themselves as to why they have a serious shot at him.

I say as of right now there's very little chance of him coming to chapel hill. I'll never say never, but that third NOA was really bad timing. It's a real shame because Jackson is having a great year so far

I actually think they have a decent shot a Knox. That's just a feeling, no inside info on his recruitment. My complaint is how it is spun by UNC fans if he doesn't pick UNC. I'm sure Gary and his minions will say Momma wanted, handlers, dirty recruitment, Roy didn't want, he didn't want to be a student, Not UNC caliber if he doesn't pick UNC.

Right, they never lose a recruit clean, always outside factors at play that are dirty. But I agree I think unc definitely has a solid and very realistic chance at him.

He was at chapel hill the other night when Jackson scored 28, including 6 threes. So that worked out well.

But yeah, I never listen to Gary when it comes to recruiting. That's what premi is for. In any case, you guys are giving us more of a chance than some of my fellow heel fans haha.

"the proof is in the pudding, if roy had his pick, he wouldn't even offer the mid-level exceptional bums; he'd just sign all the elite guys like he has in the past. the problem is, no one wants to play for his ass anymore. he can't get anyone to the NBA quickly. he's a terrible in game coach/strategist. his 'awe shucks' persona is corn-ball as hell. he gives too much credence to seniority when it is unwarranted. his sub patterns are ridiculous. he's old, he's stubborn. doesn't call TO's. he's under a dark cloud of scandal, regardless what the truth is, its hurting him. he has a 'big shot' reputation on the recruiting trail. meaning he tries to throw his weight around on HS coaches. many are turned off by it and won't even converse w/ him much, if at all. which only hurts his relationships w/ potential recruits."

I don't agree with all of that. But in terms of recruiting it's the bitter truth.

The court case would be interesting to see. There is precedent that could potentially be applicable in this situation. Courts have ruled that the quality of the education isn't something they would get involved with. The NCAA has also stated that it's not the NCAA's responsibility to ensure they get a quality education when they were trying to get the suit from former UNC players dismissed. I'm not sure the court would even allow the suit to go forward, which would mean that the ruling from the NCAA would be final. Going to court would be a big gamble for both parties. The NCAA could hammer UNC if they were to win. If the NCAA were to lose, then their power would be greatly diminished, although that's starting to happen for reasons outside of this situation.

I don't think anyone is arguing that the NCAA cannot tell a college to make a class tougher. However, when an athlete is given a grade from someone other than the professor to stay eligible, the NCAA can sure enough rule on that, because that is 100% an impermissible benefit, even if the class is made up of athletes and non-athletes.

I'm willing to bet that the non-athletes in that class did not get grades given to them from someone other than the professor. That is the argument pure and simple. I get so tired of 99.9% of tarheel nation saying the NCAA cannot rule on the toughness of a class. No kidding! That's not the argument. The argument is giving grades by non professors.

They try and oversimplify something that they know deep down they are beyond guilty of- impermissible benefits. I still don't think squat happens to them, but they know they cheated.

I was just looking at past court cases. People are wondering what would happen if it went to court and the only examples I am aware of that might be used in this case are the examples I mentioned. The other aspects of the situation have never made their way to court, so there is no precedent as to how the courts would rule.

No need to make a class tougher. Just make it a real class and cut out the excuses and bull crap about it. OFC

The proof is in the pudding ? Hasn't it always been in the puddin. Hasn't that " nanner puddin " been the focal point of hof roy williams cruitin for years. Perhaps top cruits don't have the same taste for " nanner puddin " that they used to have. " nanner puddin ' is staple desert in the south and has been for decades. Things change. Maybe wanda williams needs to expand her desert line to suit the new wave of cruits. Any suggestions out there that would be a hit when these 5 star cruits come to chapel hill. ;) OFC

Quite ridiculous if not much happens to them, especially if men's bball skates, because what they pulled is the definition of academic fraud. And the biggest incident of it in NCAA history. And yes, Hole fans, it DOES pertain to athletics as the "classes" were there to keep athletes, including members of the men's bball team, eligible for play. If they go unscathed then F the NCAA and everyone else they try and penalize in the future should simply laugh hysterically at them and give them the middle finger.

Pickerington Central improved its record to 7-0 with 63-48 (?) win over Walnut Ridge (Columbus City League member). PC will next play on Tuesday at Westerville South (WS) HS, the defending OH big schools state champion. Undefeated WS will be by far the most talented team PC has played. If PC plays as they did tonight they will get blown off the court. For whatever reason PC came out totally uninspired (including our guy Manley!). Starting with the opening tap (which he lost to WR's 6-5 center), Sterling seemed lost tonight. He finished with 8 pts -- 2 of 4 from the field and 4-4 from FT line. He had about 4 blocked shots, but very few rebounds. Finished with 3 fouls (2 of the lazy variety...). Probably only played 16 total minutes due to fouls. Note: I have zero "inside" knowledge but he appeared to be somewhat ill. He did not warm up w/ his teammates prior to the start of the 3rd qtr., but did start the 3rd and played until he got his third foul. There were also several instances where he never made it down the court on offense. PC led by 25+ with about 4 minutes to play when our version of the "blue" team came in and the lead got chopped all the way down to 13 before we scored the last bucket. Hopefully this was just a blip. PC has two other D-I caliber players, but we cannot win at WS without a supreme performance from Manley.

Diamond in the Rough sighting from a UNC fan. Might be avoiding getting hurt this year to be able to play in Chapel Hill next year.

At ND it was a freaking fellow student that did some papers for a few football players he knew well. It isn't as if anyone in the administration or coaches even knew about it. Guarantee crap like that goes on almost everywhere too. Ridiculous.

Let's get back to the THR quotes guys. DevilDJ has an entire thread dedicated to the scandal, I don't want us to lose focus on this thread.

No probs...Devil DJ deserves it- guy works his his butt off digging thru the mess at the hole!!! Props to him!!

As you'd expect, the K injury would give some of THR's finest a platform to make things up! Steat, as you'd expect jumped at that chance by claiming that on saturday Grayson was in game uniform! Don't worry, if you keep saying it, it will have to be true. I guess I watched a different game than he did- one in which ESPN spent 12 min straight (4 min of game time) in the first half showing him on the bench.

"Trip will sit out 10 games. Then if any more after that lifetime suspension from ACC. Trip should not have been on the bench in game uniform in the Va Tech game. It was a direct insult and slap in the face to the ACC Commisioner. Also rumor of ineligible player on team. I made that last part up. Bottomline, the next few weeks will tell us a lot about the Duke situation. Perhaps the Dookies will now stop talking about Roy's bad knees and his ongoing bout with vertigo

Those darn refs screwing the Holes over yet AGAIN!!

"The only way Klempsum is still in this thing near the end is the shiteshow officiating that kept them in it. Well over half of the tiggers "forced" TO's were uncalled fouls. We would make similar contact on a loose ball or steal attempt and THERE goes the whistle! As a team Klempsum committed at least 128 (slight exaggeration) uncalled fouls. Number 50 for Klempsum would have fouled out of a properly officiated game at least 17 (slight exaggeration) times. Meanwhile it is Hicks instead sitting at the end for 5 ticky-tack calls.

Joel Berry, who alone was fouled over 40 (slight exaggeration) times tonight shot exactly ZERO FTS for THE ENTIRE GAME!

And Klempsum with their hockey team defense still shooting 15 (slight exaggeration) more FTs than us for the game?? To quote Ralph Wiggums, "that's unpossible!"

Growing up in NC and being a pure bred redneck with a bad temper I got into a lot of fights with UNC fans. After growing up the only way I am fighting is there is no place to run but Cory, Gary , and Steat are three thet would make me revert back to those days

Who wants to help UNC fans start a petition? This bad officiating needs to stop.

From some clown named 2DDIMOND....

"JJ was clearly fouled on a drive to the basket late in the game. In fact, his arm was grabbed, 2 zebras looking right at it........no call. To me, that equals an agenda, but I'm a conspiracy theorist anyway. JJ even stopped playing because he knew it was a foul & was going to be called, & was shocked when it wasn't. I think Roy needs to go Spurrier & send some tapes to some people."

Man hard to argue with that! A clean objective look into what is clearly a disturbing agenda by the officials, and dare I say a higher power, like the gov't.
