He was 215 lbs when he signed with Duke and now he is 235. Would he not be better off losing some of that weight and spending the off season working on his quickness/ ball handling rather than trying to be a NBA power forward? Either way he will be a liability on defense but the mismatch at SF would also give him an advantage on the offensive end. He would be close to the size of Bojan Bogdanovic. Guess I am just reaching for straws and hoping for a Duke front court of Williams, Banchero and Hurt.

I looking at the 3 position. Just don't see him doing the inside. OFC

Matt Bonner was able to have a great career as 3 pt specialist. 41 percent career average.
6 ft 10 235.
I do agree that Hurt needs to be a 3 and play outside.

Hurt is a stretch four in the league. Think Robinson in Miami. He's a player who can’t really guard athletic sf and a big that can shoot from outside. He’s simply a situational player with some upside . He does have the skill to make an NBA bench but like stated he’ll get drafted and spend some time in the gleague before making money over seas.

The modern day NBA 4’s job is to stand 30 feet from the basket to open the floor for the guards and be able to make 3’s at a 40% rate. I don’t know if I love what the game has become, but the math says you will score more points playing like that.

Hurt is a 4, he can only play the 4 in the NBA. I think he has a chance to actually play, given how the game is played nowadays. He will always be a liability on defense, but again making 40+% from 3 makes up for that. There are more than a few guys similar to Hurt who get minutes on good teams.

The 3 is the most loaded position in the NBA. Hurt has no chance guarding any of the 3s in the league. He's a stretch 4 for a team will do it's best to hide from getting exposed on screens.

You right about that but what fours can he guard? Zion. Yep that's who he will be guarding if he is a four and regardless of what you say about NBA defense I think it's a lot better than today's college defense so as much as I want to see another Dukie in the NBA I do not think Matthew is ready and another year at Duke would not hurt (no pun intended) but he's gone. OFC

He would be guarding AD vs the Lakers now that they are signing Drummond. I would hope he would only get minutes vs the bench players.
