The New Lounge

There will always be racism, but racism isn’t one sided either. Progress can be made if things were taken on a case by case basis.

There’s too much money made to keep people divided though.
When you take systemic racism on a “case-by-case basis,” you miss the systemic nature of it and don’t do anything to address the system. Sure, consider the nuances of individual cases, but don’t be blind to trends.

Don’t ask me for examples again when this is your automatic, kneejerk response to any of them.
It's not a knee-jerk response when you're regurgitating outdated talking points that were garbage 6 years ago and are still garbage today. You cannot provide actual examples of systemic racism. It is all garbage based off of false narratives. You're just recycling failed responses and repeating outdated propaganda. You have never attempted to discuss policy that would fix these so called injustices. Just like with voter ID laws. Your reasoning behind calling those racist, is actually... racist. That's the progressive left in a nutshell, though.

Requiring Id disproportionately harms Black & brown people.
Reducing early voting disproportionately harms Black & brown people.
Eliminating polling places near lower income neighborhoods disproportionately harms Black & brown people.

The NC GOP did all of that, and did it deliberately.

That you don't care doesn't make it any less than completely true.

You’re too stupid to vote if you think requiring ID is racist. It’s simply common sense. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sad when you think black and brown people can’t get ID. You really want them oppressed.

An Id is required to apply for a job, govt assistance, and to drive a car. If you are so isolated and off the grid that you fall into these categories you have no business voting

You need an ID here now to take your trash to the dump so they know you live in the county.

And lazy cus they’re not willing to drive across town to vote even though how this affects them more than poor whites is beyond me

The fact is, there are 50k+ legal voters in NC who don't have ID, most of them Black & brown. I can't imagine going through life like that, but that's not the point. People do.

Voter fraud is insignificant. There were more than 135 million votes cast for President in 2016. There were 4 cases of voter fraud among them. The integrity of our elections has never been jeopardized. For whatever reason people don't have IDs, requiring ID would alienate thousands of voters. It's a solution in search of a problem.

No. You're in search of a problem, and a political party to blame.

It’s that sad but true.

Not once have the racist liberals who claim black people are too stupid to figure out the internet or find a dmv, suggested that we find a way to make it easier for them to obtain an ID.

Also, how blind is one who thinks voter fraud is insignificant, but voter suppression isn't?

If Black and brown (why is that not capitalized? Not the golden goose for Dems they used to be? Hmmm) voters started voting overwhelmingly Rep, ol Datt would change his opinion on many issues esp voting ID and the border sh show

Not being a wise guy here, because I truly do not understand, so asking for someone to explain to me, how having an ID disproportionately harms minorities. Also how does reducing early voting disproportionately harm minorities?

And how does NOT requiring an ID to vote help keep our elections safer?

Because you can show up to the polling place and claim you’re a dead person who hasn’t been purged off the rolls or claim you’re someone who has moved out of state? I’m sure this rarely happens, just theorizing 😂😂

I’m talking politics. The left is ruining our country with this blaming anyone right of center. They are masters at the “ready FIRE aim way. It works too. The media is lockstep with them.

I think it’s really that simple, but worse, awful.
Just for the sake of conversation and to explore my earlier point that the problem was also to be found on some segments of the Right (looking at issues through the prism of race) what do you guys think about the fascination with CRT that has recently cropped up on Fox and at the grass roots level. Do you believe that this theory is being taught to kids? I have to admit that I was barely aware of this theory before it became a talking point. My initial thinking is that it is a bugbear. As to the "incident" at BYU, it's pretty obvious that the woman cried wolf. Whether she believed it or not is an unknowable.

Yes, CRT is real, but the question is how diffuse? I know in schools by me they’ve been trying to spread it but it’s meeting a lot of resistance, from parents of all races.

There’s the feeling among many that teachers have been sneaking it in for years before it was given the name CRT. White privilege, whites are inherently racist, most of the problems in the world can be traced to white peopletc. Slavery, patriarchal societies are exclusively white. Most of which is laughable if it wasn’t being taught to captive prepubescent children. It only came to light when Covid hit and parents could easily see this garbage on their kids’ laptops

The question you should be asking yourself is why she so desperately wanted to believe it happened

And why, when it’s proven to have been a lie, is it not corrected by the media?
It’s proof that the media (left) really isn’t interested in things being better.

Ready, FIRE, aim.

The easiest answer would be that people often see and hear what they want to see and hear even if an objective bystander would report that said phenomena never occurred. I don't know her background so I can't say whether she had been primed to hear something that did not occur or whether there could be an ulterior motive. Either explanation is plausible. There could be other explanations. We know after the fact that the woman at the heart of the Duke lacrosse incident had been diagnosed as bipolar. I just don't have enough information to answer your question. I will have to think more about the CRT debate. I can readily believe that teachers let their own personal views seep into the classroom. As a personal example, I once had a debate with one of my professors who adamantly wanted to pinpoint American involvement in the Vietnam War to oil reserves being in that country, which was a silly, lazy untrue Marxist explanation.

CRT is an actual though I believed a fairly obscure academic theory but is that what teachers are actually teaching or are a lot of disliked subjects being swept into that label? Could it be both? Are teachers being taught CRT at universities? I would have to educate myself on CRT before I really said much about the theory. Just off hand, I can readily agree with you that it is laughable that slavery and racism are exclusive to whites. That viewpoint is completely at odds with history.

Again. Racism in America today is at a higher demand than the supply can support. Some people just have to have it, even if it is exaggerated or all out fabricated.

And those parents who want to debate whether this should be taught in school at board meetings are labeled as terrorists by the Doj while real terrorists could be poring over the border on a daily. One of these is gonna kill a bunch of Americans one day and then you’ll see a media/ Dem coverup like we’ve never seen before

What they want to see?

Yes, teachers' personal views show up in classrooms, just like every other person's personal views show up over the course of a relationship that includes knowing each other. That includes the married, hetero cis woman who has a picture on her desk of her hetero cis male husband. Nobody calls that an "agenda" because it's really common, but it's no different as far as representing "personal views" goes. No, teachers are not teaching CRT. No, most teachers are not being taught CRT at universities. CRT is not at all the boogieman the right pretends it is so they can sucker voters.

Problem is, they never admit they’re wrong or bury it in the want ads Heard no one say that Dawn Staley jumped the gun by canceling bball game So since they’re unwilling to admit they were wrong, I think I’ll go with lying
Ol Datt prefers making these sideways (cheap) remarks instead of discussing the actual points that we are making. Which, like I’ve said, proves libs, and he’s a poster child, are not interested in addressing them. Dawn Staley was, and is, only looking for a reason to stir the pot.

@Dattier will swoop in with the systemic racism card shortly.

If there are corrections made to the initial responses once it is evident that they were wrong, then they were wrong. If it becomes evident that they were wrong and they double down, then they are lying. It's not the facts that matter. It's the fact that the facts could have been different.

Oops, even she admits it’s real, all while trying to downplay it 😂
