Sorry if I missed it, but since there was already a thread up for Quinn, I wanted to also create one for Marshall.

While he may not have been the impact player, the guy always gave everything he had when he was in the game. Countless times this season, his size and heart provided us with a spark that resulted in the team emerging with a "W"

It is going to be strange next season when I look at the roster and do not see a member of the Plumlee family listed.

He may not be on the team next year, but he was a worthy member of the team, did A LOT of good for us and will forever be a Duke champion. Love Marshall.

The plumlees have been an incredible blessing to duke. If I told you every brother would come to Duke and leave a champion, I think we'd all say yes 1000 times. Their time here has been a very, very good thing for Duke.

It's not for sure yet. I know there's speculation he may not be back (because he is graduating) but he still has a year of eligibility left.

Thank you...I thought since they held the commission ceremony this year that it was already regarded as a done deal that he would be leaving us after 2015.

Would most definitely welcome him back if it was in his heart to keep playing for the Devils.

Marshall is a redshirt junior so he still has one more year of eligibility left, so as far as I know he should be a part of the team next season because I seem to remember after it was announced that he was joining the military after graduation that it would be next year that he will graduate unless I heard incorrectly.

No, you definitely heard correctly. Herein lies the question though. Is he a senior academically?

With a player that has been redshirted, they usually fall into one of two categories:

1) Despite redshirting, the student-athlete has maintained a full course load during his eight semesters and therefore is on schedule to graduate on time...Under this scenario, he would earn his undergrad degree this year and would be working towards a graduate degree if he played next season

2) Knowing that he would be staying five years, he took a reduced course load (12 credits) and therefore still has some work he needs to complete in order to earn his bachelor's.

I honestly do not know which scenario applies to him....Being that RS is becoming pretty rare in basketball, a part of me always assumed (perhaps falsely) that he was taking your standard 30-32 credits/year, which I think would get him out in four.

Apologies for the back-to-back post....I was able to find a Yahoo Sports article that identifies Spring 2016 as his completion date.

For this reason, it would seem that I was premature in extending him a warm sendoff. If that article is correct, than all signs would suggest he would still be with us next year.

Again, apologies for my errors.

Marshall Plumlee.. A great Dukie and fine young man. OFC

Whoa...this thread scared me for a minute. I've never seen it anywhere that Marshall wouldn't finish his senior season. Losing him for next season would be huge loss. I look for him to be much improved next year.

Yeah, I loved the way he handled that pass from Tyus last night. Sorry, just never been a fan of his, as a basketball player. A great young man from a fine family, yes. And I admire him for going to serve. And, yes, I'm ready to take s... for my comments.

I bet Coach K is a fan of Marshall and understands how valuable he is to this teams success and how important he will be next year. I've seen so many times this year when posters from this board were wanting Marshall to be on the floor more and also the Amile critics. Both did what was ask of them without thinking of themselves. There is a reason why myself, you and every Duke fan that post here and every Duke fan in the country is not Duke's coach. It's because we don't know what the G.O.A.T knows. We don't know the G.O.A.T. thoughts. We don't see what he G.O.A.T. sees. That is why we Duke fans call him the G.O.A.T. OFC

I know he isn't the most talented player in the world, but they need his presence next year.

you mean that pass that was ultra fast and behind marshall, who was rolling to the basket for an alley oop like they usually do, but Tyus in no way connected on it?

Un freaking real. We just won the national. Give me a break dude.

X2.

Not ready for a scare like this. We need Marshall next year. It's players like Marshall, Amile, Lance, Zoubek, et al that do the intangibles that make championship opportunities possible.

Can we use the Plumlees as a great recruiting tool for siblings? All 3 came to Duke and all 3 won NCs.

We'll need Marshall next year more than this year. As a senior he will be looked upon as a leader, he will be required to play more minutes and he should improve over the summer just as he has each year. He'll never be a great player but I am glad we have him and he can be fun to watch.
