As many of you know, earlier this season Quinn became the 64th Duke player to surpass 1,000 total career points. Below is a tracker to follow how high he moves up the list.

He recently passed former Duke players Chris Collins and Jay Bilas, and now in his sights are current Duke assistant coach Nate James and Harvard lead man Tommy Amaker.

One quick note, he would need 1,456 points to climb into the top 30 all-time. Based on having 27 games left he needs to average 13.4 to do that. If we played the maximum number of games we could (32) that number moves to 11.3. Right now he's averaging 15.3 for the season.

I'll try and keep this updated following each game.

45. Greg Paulus - 1,193
46. Tommy Amaker - 1,168
47. Carroll Youngkin - 1,154
48. Chris Redding - 1,141
49. Bob Fleischer - 1,139
50. Alaa Abdelnaby - 1,137
51. Willie Hodge - 1,117
52. Nate James - 1,116
T-53. Howard Hurt - 1,095
T-53. Quinn Cook - 1,095
T-53. Kevin Strickland - 1,095
56. Chris Collins - 1,091
57. Jay Bilas - 1,062

Re: Quinn Cook Stat-Tracker

I will also monitor Rasheed as he now stands at 812 career points. He should go over 1,000 sometime in February.

Re: Quinn Cook Stat-Tracker

Thanks DJ, I really enjoy these, have for all the years you've done them.

It's gonna be tough for Quinn to do it, but very good for Duke if he does!

Re: Quinn Cook Stat-Tracker

Thanks. I'll get one going for Jahlil sometime after the new year when he's closer to moving in the top 10 in scoring and rebounding for Duke freshman. Right now he's still quite a ways out. I think I started Jabari's around that time last year.

Re: Quinn Cook Stat-Tracker

Since I'm too lazy to do the math myself, is Quinn in any significant range in steals or assists?

DJ, Quinn has 435 career assists. Jon Scheyer is #10 on the top ten assist leaders at duke with 440...with several more in reach. He should move up nicely on this. The bottom entry on the top 10 steals leader is 194, and Quinn has 124...so he won't be cracking the top ten. I don't know where he stands in the top 20 or 25...I didn't find a list.

Here are the top 10 assist leaders at Duke.

1. Bobby Hurley 1076
2. Chris Duhon 819
3. Tommy Amaker 708
4. Jason Williams 644
5.Quin Snyder 575
6. Johnny Dawkins 555
7.Danny Ferry 506
8. Steve Wojciechowski 505
9. Grant Hill 461
10 Jon Scheyer 440

DJ, great job on these, I too have always enjoyed them! I will see what I can do about getting you a raise in pay!! Will be tough though, what you do is priceless!! Go Duke!!!!

Re: Quinn Cook Stat-Tracker

Thanks, Dirt. I will keep an eye on it. Looks like he could climb into the top seven or so. Passing Dawkins would seem unlikely being that he plays off the ball so much now.

Re: Quinn Cook Stat-Tracker

^You're welcome, DJ. Yeah, I think 7th place is most likely where Quinn will end up...barring injury. It would be difficult to overtake Johnny D. He'd have to average about 4 assists for 30 more games...if we're in that many. But, who knows.
Anyway, he's one assist behind Jon for a 10th place tie after tonight...if I'm right that he had 4 assists.

Re: Quinn Cook Stat-Tracker

Quinn keeps climbing the list as he catapults into the top 50 on the all-time Duke scoring list with 15 points against Wofford.

His current season average is 14.5 per game. Let's say he averages 12.5 the rest of the way and Duke plays just 23 games (they could play as many as 28) it would put him into the 1400s....which would move him into the top 30.

Re: Quinn Cook Stat-Tracker

Hey dukiejay, where do you think, realistically, Quinn will end up by the end of his career? If we go deep in both tourneys we are looking at him ended up in the top twenty possibly, right? Depending on his scoring obviously.

Re: Quinn Cook Stat-Tracker

The top 20 would be impossible (unless Quinn scores 28+ the rest of the way)....top 30 seems more realistic, but even that could be a stretch.

Look at it this way....let's say we play the maximum number of games we can the rest of the way. That would be 16 --- seven in the ACC, three in the ACCT, and six in the NCAAT. If Quinn stays at his current average of 14.2 points per game, he would finish at around 1,530 to 1,540 for his career. David Henderson is currently 28th on the all-time list with 1,570....while Boozer is 29th at 1,506.

If you figure conservatively and say seven ACC games, two in the ACCT, and three in the NCAAT then you have just 12 games left....and at his current average he would get to about 1,475 or so, which would make him 30th.

Currently Vince Taylor and Chris Carrawell are tied for 30th at 1,455, then there's a big gap to Carlos at 29 (1,506) and an even bigger gap to Henderson at 28 (1,570).

I'd say there's a "decent" chance he tops Taylor and Carrawell, but anything beyond that would be gravy....and would likely mean Duke is making a deep run in the tournament.

Re: Quinn Cook Stat-Tracker

Crap, I meant top thirty. Sorry man. I know twenty would be just ridiculous, but, that would mean some great things have happened, right?
