Officially Carolina week

Alright.. this game we can discuss a little extra I think.. I will do a Gameday thread Saturday(or late Friday don’t want to take the risk of getting that one up late) but let’s discuss some, not predictions or anything but keys to the game, favorite duke Carolina memories, if you’ve attended a game in the past tell us about that experience…. If you live in NC share the pain of losing and going to school/work the next day 😆

Someone said it in the Wake game thread.....UNC always seems to play loose at Cameron. They have upperclassmen who have beaten Duke multiple times including the big two last year. I haven't looked at the spread, but I do feel like we will be the underdogs. My two keys are good guard play on both ends, and our frontcourt staying out of foul trouble.

Best memory? Lots to choose from, but I'll go with Tre Jones with the intentional missed FT and made shot to tie the game and then win at UNC. We absolutely stole that game, no question about it.

Have to contain Love and Bacot . Put Mitchell on Puff or Leaky.

Davis and Proctor will be a good match up but Love has owned Roach . Need Blakes and Grandison to bring a bull dog mentality on defense and the entire team to pressure the ball. Got to hit three’s while limiting theirs.

Not expecting a win. Think they have too much experience. Hope I’m wrong. But, I like we’re the underdog, no matter the spread.
My favorite memory was the 16 team. Their house. We were shorthanded, and down big. One of K’s best moments. He willed his team, while Ol Roy had one of his epic coaching failures.

How their 3pt shooting goes is how i see the game going....Davis/Love...if they shoot 3's well then we will lose...if they dont we should win....Guard play and scoring will decide this one

Don't know how, but Lively can't get 2 fouls in the first 3 minutes. He's got to play 20-25 meaningful minutes. Bacot will eat up Young.

And we have to make some shots, and be strong with the ball. I don't think Proctor will have seen the kind of intensity that both teams bring to this game.

Lively & Flip absolutely cannot get any dumb fouls going for rebounds or on offense. We are gonna need them. Roach needs to outplay Love.

I remember the Rivers game. I turned it off when we were down 12 in disgust. The next morning I went to Starbucks, got a coffee and a USA Today, and saw the score. I thought it was the womens game. I was like holy **** we won. My whole mood changed.

Correct. Love and Davis aren’t great dribblers away from the basket. Without Manek they’re even more vulnerable. We don’t have the stamina to do it for long but when Blacks out and they got a couple of subs in that’s the time to spring it. Black would blow by his defender for an easy basket if they broke it what I’m thinking

This is the kind of game that could give us a major shot of momentum. Roach looks refreshed. If he and Proctor are going to keep playing off each other like the Wake game, this is a whole different team.

I think Flip and Proctor both have good games. They both are not afraid when the game is on the line. I get worried when Roach is dribbling with the shot clock winding down. I think we have more quality depth and they have experience. Our guys outside of Roach don't have any bad memories. I don't know what to expect as a outcome but hoping the crazies haven't forgotten how shitty K was treated last year.

We swept them in 2020. Moore’s put back first then the game at Cameron J-Rob had a huge game and we won 89-76, we led the whole game. Then the year before, we won the ACC tournament game with Zion, the Vrank game. (Let’s not count the 2 before that when Zion was hurt)

So they have actually won 4 of the past 8 going back to that ACC tournament game. Funny how numbers can always be messed with.

I feel like we'll win by 10. We really learned great lessons from the 2 losses last year. Williams is now a junior, Banchero has been playing like the POY, and Moore is the senior leader we have all been wanting. AJ has been much more consistent, and no one can contain Keels and his physical play. Wait they all left? Only Roach came back? And we had to talk him into it? Okay never mind. I'm just playing. They have the edge, but we're at home and it's a rivalry game. Should be close.
Wow Pitt just beat them. Louisville about to beat GT. Tenn getting rolled by Florida. It's been a strange year.

Bacot is a dirty player who will never be anything in the NBA. If he tried that junk with Draymond he'd be on the floor in a heartbeat. Oh, and GTHC!!! GTH!!!

Mitchell on Nance/Johnson (when Love isn’t in)

Yippie. You know they will shoot lights out from 3…Badcock will get a bubble trouble 20 & 20. 10 of which should be over the back or a push in the back no calls. We will be in foul trouble early. Badcock will go 10-10 from the FT line. Questionable calls won’t go our way….Not once. Make up calls will end up costing us a point. Sound familiar. 😂
