Duke Softball

Not Lighting it up in the NCAA tournament, too many walks. Currently in the top of the 6th in Game 6 of the Durham regional tied 1-1 They win and they host in the super regional. No hitting Charlotte, but a 4 walk inning with a wp produced Charlotte's only run.

Showed the importance of bunting top 6. First and second no outs, failed to get bunt down led to strikeout. next batter tied the game witha hit, but two would have scored if got the bunt down.

Charlotte's first hit was a solo HR in the bottom of the sixth, but back-to-back hits on 0-2 counts (double, single) tied the score at 2-2! Rbi single Moved to second on throw home. Single put two on, but Charlotte tried to throw the runner out at third so trail runner went to second. After base running blunders led to DPs yesterday, Duke being very head's up on basepath. So crucial in softball.

Obstruction on play at the plate after initial call as out was reviewed! Bases loaded, no outs. 3-2 Ladies in the seventh.

In other news, Georgia first team to Supers. Will either host South Carolina or travel to FSU. South Carolina forced an if necessary game in Tallahassee. FSU the three seed. Second seeded UCLA went 0-2 and BBQ (wish it happened last year. Duke lost at UCLA in supers last year).

Double play nets another run and Charlotte escapes. Heading to the bottom of the seventh with the Ladies up 4-2 after a triple in the top of the seventh. Duke manufactured that inning with nice baserunning.

Yep we will play Thursday-Saturday or Friday-Sunday. Hopefully win Thursday and Friday so people can support SB then get to Duke lacrosee FF.

Friday-Sunday (hopefully do not need Sunday). We play at noon on Friday in ESPN 2. 3 pm on Saturday.

Softball moves faster than baseball. The subbing rules are definitely hard to get used to if you are not familiar with collegiate softball (and even if you are, it can be a nightmare). But, I do like it is called designated player in softball and not DH, so any player can be chosen just for defense and not bat.
