Good morning. No offense, but there is such a gap in what gets reported. There's little difference between the last 4 presidents. I used to think there was. But there's not. W Bush and Kerry were members of the same club when they were in college. These people are part of the problem, not the solution. Yet, they want us to believe they are for you. Slowly, over time, our freedoms have been removed. Either it by taxes, regulations, or whatever. War is money. Another reason the Establishment despises Trump is he doesn't want wars. Also, why aren't we offered similar healthcare as what they have in DC? I pay over 825 a month for a family of 3, and have a high deductible. This is criminal. Yet our politicians act like they care. Give me a break.

Not sure about framing the rest of the world. I think we can all agree that a leader or country didn't do a good job when that leader's country has 4.2 percent of the world's population but 21.5 percent of the world's documented Covid cases and 18.3 percent of the world's documented Covid deaths.
Since this was a new virus and the Chinese were not all that forthcoming about it, pretty much everyone got some part of it wrong, hence the CDC and Fauci's recommendations in the early days against wearing masks. The issue was that we did not have a national mandate here to take the steps that the epidemiologists were telling us would slow the spread. Places that went to masks, social distancing and closing nonessential indoor businesses did slow the spread so that health care system were not completely overwhelmed. As far as the new spikes, that is not because these other measures did not work. It is because, between the colder weather and pandemic fatigue ,people are returning to the risky behaviors of being inside with many people, none of whom are wearing masks. I quite frankly don't get Topps insistence that all Biden is now proposing is what Trump proposed. Biden is pushing wearing masks and is doing so to serve as a role model. Trump refused to do that even after he himself got sick.

Using the exact ratio we are at this morning, a 95 percent effective vaccine from the jump with no additional precautions, means 690,000 cases across the United States and 13,100 deaths. It also appears that of the 5 percent of test subjects who do test positive, few experience any symptoms. That means far fewer hospitalizations, which allows the medical community to get back to normal.
Honest question, how can you believe all these things about the government killing it's own people with Coronavirus to get Trump out office and the establishment controlling child sex trafficking rings, but you're unable to believe the government is capable of systemic racism and oppression?

Yes, Democrats has played a part in systemic racism. So did the non-party of George Washington, the Federalists, the Whigs, the Democratic-Republicans and and the Republicans. In whole, the United States Government, through systems that were put in place and fallout from those systems that still haven't gone away, has oppressed Black people and other marginalized people in this country.

Sure, that's possible. I haven't seen any actual proof of it. I'd be more inclined that to believe that Americans are more likely to have multiple comorbidities than other First World countries which has made many of our citizens more susceptible to the Coronavirus.

I said that they DID NOT recommend masks early on. That was an example I gave of how little we knew and still know about this virus. As for as your dismissal of masks, first I am of course sorry that you and your wife got the disease and happy to see that you guys came through it, but here in NY we have strong anecdotal proof of how well those masks work. During the BLM protests, where thousands of people were in the streets in close quarters, there was no spike in the virus because more than 80% of the people there wore masks. Where have the spikes been? In the Satmar community where they refuse to wear masks and have large indoor gatherings to worship jointly.
I definitely agree with you on the comorbidity point. We do have an unhealthy number of obese and diabetic population.
If you haven't seen that most other countries count covid cases and deaths differently, you haven't looked. It's not a conspiracy theory. Many countries don't count deaths unless it was as a direct result of covid. Where we count deaths as covid even if someone dies with covid and not from covid. We also count cases differently than most countries. We run the samples through 37-45 cycles where a more accurate test would go through 18-20 cycles. Meaning that we have a much higher rate of false positives. And when we verify that it is a false positive, the positive test is still in the database.
This does not reduce the seriousness of the virus. But what it does do is give the impression that we are having a harder time than many other countries. I have never understood why so many people in our country, both political and private, go to such measures to make it look like we are doing worse than we are, or worse than everyone else. Other countries do the opposite. But I fully expect that to change once Biden os in office.

Wisconsin didn't have an early spike. In July they put forth a mask mandate. In September, they enganced the mandate. They are currently experiencing their biggest spike of the virus yet.
Miami-Dade county had a mask mandate starting in April. From what people have said, this was one of the most strictly enforced mandates in the country as you couldn't enter a store without a mask without being arrested. In June they became the highest infected county in the country at that time.
L.A. county also had a mask mandate heavily enforced early. Under that mandate, they took over as the highest infected county in the country.
North Carolina has had a mask mandate for months. At the time the mandate was enforced, we had a positive test rate of 4.2%. Right now we are at our biggest outbreak yet and testing positive at 9%
I can keep going, but it would be useless as people have allowed the government to manipulate their minds and believe one of the biggest lies told to our citizens.
The thing is some of those spikes, Miami-Dade as well as LA, happened after the restrictions were eased so people were going into buildings and not wearing masks. But now, with so many examples of them not working, to go along with decades of science that show that masks are ineffective with viruses, to believe it still is just a form of ignorant pride.

Your logical reason is that thousands of people standing shoulder to shoulder yelling and screaming didn't spread the virus because they were supposedly wearing masks. But a handful of people in mask mandated areas did spread the virus because of restrictions being eased. Fvcking hilarious.

I looked up some simple numbers (to date) of countries that came up and here is what I found:
Germany: 1.09 million cases/ 17,177 deaths = 1.6% of total cases are terminal.
France: 2.23 million/ 53,506 = 2.4% terminal
Brazil: 6.39 million/ 173,979 = 2.7% terminal
Russia: 2.35 million/ 41,000 = 1.7% terminal
The United States falls right between those as far as deaths per case (1.9), so it doesn't seem like there is anything abnormal about how the deaths are being calculated.
If our case count was somewhere closer in proportion to our population, we would have far less deaths, regardless of how they are calculated.
Additionally, I would argue that promotion of mask-wearing and social distancing from the top of the ladder would have a significant impact on decreasing the spread of the virus.
As of now, the U.S. has has 13.8 million positive cases which represents 4.1 percent of the population.
When Amazon reported positive cases and suspected positive cases in October among frontline workers (over 1.1 million workers), it came in at 1.4% of the workers. This is an environment where people basically work on top of each other for 10 hours a day. Amazon did however begin mandatory mask wearing, social distancing and taking other precautions (shift staggering, break room reconstruction) in early March and created an environment where those at the top seemed to take it seriously. The approach to the virus would explain the numbers being proportionally lower despite being in what would initially be considered a higher risk environment.
@Jtre I’d like to know where these ‘stats’ you posted came from. How do we know they’re accurate? I mean, no one has had the flu, pneumonia, or the common cold in almost a year, so you expect me to believe some numbers you’ve posted by some group or whatever are legit? Worldometers, but I checked Media Bias/Fact Check for the validity of the site. I then did a couple other searches to make sure the numbers aligned with those of worldometers. I then used basic math skills to come up with the percentages.
The Amazon numbers were widely reported by people who both hate and love the company. Again, the percentages are mine.
