Pick Your Duke All-O&D Team

It’s so played out for Duke fans to tell other Duke fans how to act.
I think it's far more played out for fans to trash our players and second-guess everything K does, then expect immunity from criticism.

Yeah exactly, only somebody like you actually thinks a pick’em champ truly has some significant meaning or importance.
Please read my posting history before attacking me. I do not start arguments with anyone, I am only here to provide analysis on Duke basketball, and occasionally take jabs at the people who hate on our players (hence my post.)

I was not being serious in my statement of being the pick'em champ, and am shocked that you took that seriously. I do feel like I'm more knowledgeable than most that post about the game of basketball, I've been around it my whole life. So if that makes you feel some type of way, tough luck. The same way I couldn't compete with most on here in a discussion about science or politics, I only post about what I know and what I care about.

He, dachamp and Yates are next in line when K retires.

Thanks for the kind words. Maybe you should actually learn about the game. At some point you should know what you’re watching. I’m pretty sure you were one that thought we were better without Bagley and Grayson at point guard hahaha

Not only was that obviously a joke, it was clearly an attempt to diffuse things. Unfortunately some people here can't take the slightest criticism w/o going to war.

No, you are being serious about the pick’em thing.

The pick’em thing obviously goes hand in hand with his “superior basketball knowledge” thing. And the guy admitted that he sees himself as a “superior basketball mind”, or will that now be said to just be a joke as well.

Only superior basketball minds would understand that I was joking, but it's all good. We should all be able to move past this. I wasn't attacking anyone. But I will continue to take jabs at those adults who hate on our Duke basketball players.

Nope not me, but I do know the game very well. Just not as well as you.

Like clockwork...
Well it was ju
But I will continue to take jabs at those adults who hate on our Duke basketball players.

"Hate" is a pretty strong word. I see nothing wrong with critiqueing performances, roles, etc. Without it things would get pretty dull. Besides, over the last three years (particularly the last two) there have been plenty of reasons to 2nd guess and/or armchair quarterback. Thats because we have such elite standards at the university. We can agree to disagree about certain decisions, rotations, strategies, w/o taking a stance staff is beyond criticism. Thats simply sports.

It’s got nothing to do with this extremely subjective “superior basketball mind” thing. That’s where you got it all wrong JWill. I’ve liked many of your posts, but when it’s gets into the realm of “I’m the smartest guy (or one of the smartest) in the room everybody!” that’s when I will continue to call out adults who seem to get off on being condescending.

I agree, he thinks he is a smarter fan than others. I'm just glad the Duke fans where I live aren't like a few on this board. If they were, I'd hate Duke.

Well said Hart. Gave you a like cause Datt wouldn't expect anything less.

You just can't hang with me. Wasn't it last week you said Javin would have been a better shooter via more playing time? And I said that Javin air-balled everything he threw up, that it was mechanics, not a mental issue, and then...crickets.

Yes I did, and I still do. Believe others would have been better as well, but they didn't cause we got Bagley.
I'd like to buy you for what you're worth and sell you for what you think you're worth.

"Hate" is a strong word. It's not chosen by accident. That's honestly how some criticism comes across. There is a difference between critiquing performances and being hateful and disloyal. When people are questioned about whether they're on the right side of that line, they should clarify that they are, or be more mindful of their rhetoric. Instead, there's almost always this defensiveness and claims that the person questioning them thinks K is above criticism. That's also an extreme.

I’m still shocked that my post has provided this much discussion. Everyone realizes I was just poking fun, right?
Some people want to push a certain agenda that we must have veterans and that freshman will never ultimately result in real winning. That’s fine. But I usually like to respond with facts and specific circumstances that prove otherwise, that the model K has chosen actually gives us mathematically the best chance at a title, and some just won’t accept that.
It’s gonna be a long offseason.

Also...when I win the pick’em challenge again next year, then can I be known as a superior basketball mind?:D:D

I guess we see things differently in that respect. I can see how venting after a loss sometimes can be construed as "hating" in the heat of the moment, but I honestly think we're all just TRUE DUKE fans. Its just blowing off steam, and no one truly "hates" our players or staff. I just see it as mere 2nd guessing, and have no problem with it.

Theres generally a divide and/or two schools of thought on the board. Theres a segment who stands squarely in the corner of everything staff does, and there's another segment who doesnt mind second guessing.

Seems to be ok for those on one side of the one and done debate to have their stance, where if you disagree with them, you're a hater. Most of the posters that were really over the top hardly ever post. The every day DI poster isn't the problem. Most don't mind the one and done, we just prefer some experience mixed with them.
Also I think you need to live or had lived in North Carolina to fully understand Duke ball.
No disrespect if you don't, but you have no idea what it's like having your rival all around you.
Now listening to this bragging all the time about how we are doing, how good we will do, sounds just like those yahoos that pull for the Tar Holes. Some of you would fit in good as a fan of them.

I disagree w/ your dichotomy. Note how you call the group you're in the one that "doesn't mind second guessing" and the other group supposedly approves of everything the staff does. It's the over-the-top nature of some criticism that gets called into question, and you're now using an equally over-the-top description of the people who call you on it.

Instead of accusing people of supporting everything the staff does like sheep, accept that even if we're wrong about you, our impressions are sincere, and be mindful of giving a better impression unless you like for every discussion to devolve into this style bickering.

Same thing I just said to hart.

If that was directed at me, I lived in Raleigh for 4 years, I understand Duke “ball” just as much as anyone living down there.

People still call it Duke ball though lol?

Hold up! You think playing more minutes means you will be a better shooter? Hahahaha. Wow! Javin is not a good shooter period. Bless your little heart

You are as arrogant as a lot of Heel fans. I'm glad you don't live in NC. You and Dachump should meet up for a meeting of the minds. It would be a silent conversation.

No Einstein. Had he played 18-20 minutes all season, he wouldn't have been as bad as he was. It's called confidence, and he has none. More game time works being timid out.

Again, can’t hang. So you just completely change the subject and attack me.

We see it differently. The ONLY thing we agree on is we want Duke to win. I stand by my claim on you being similar to Tar Hole fans in our state.

Again, can’t hang. But good for you. I have never personally attacked you like you have multiple times to me. So I will stand by my claim that we are currently following the best formula to give Duke the best chance to win a title.

Hope you feel better now that you have gotten that out of your system.

Javin would go from air-balling everything to drawing iron, but hey, he deserves playing time because he works hard and plays for the name on the front of the jersey!
