that was not a 4 or 5 star or an All American that you would like to see play for Duke.

I will start with Danny Meagher. Good rebounder, good defender and hustled. Always around the ball. Would be great coming off the bench and maybe a starter on some Duke teams. OFC

Jim Suddath. Perhaps this is a poor answer. He was an athletic wing player from Georgia. Comparable to Alex O'Connell. Probably a 4*. Recruited by Bill Foster and then played for Krzyzewski. I'm a UNC fan who admired Suddath. He gave maximum effort, played with poise, and overcame knee injuries. I remember one game when he hit his head or shoulder on the backboard. He had the reputation as a long range shooter. I remember him as streaky. Would have benefited from the 3 point line

I also really liked John Harrell. He was probably a high 2* or maybe a 3* recruit. I think that his dad was a professor at NCCU, maybe math. Harrell played at Hillside and then went to NCCU. He transferred to Duke and started on the 1978 Final Four team

Hit a couple big free throws to help beat Notre Dame in '78 Final Four.....OFC

I always liked Harrell better than Bender. Quicker, more of a penetrator.

I remember Suddath being a shooting specialist. Might have been a lefthander.

I remember Billy Packer saying more than once, "this guy will have an impact in the ACC before he's done!" Not sure Suddath ever met those expectations.

Kenny Dennard was recruited after an afterthought after we got Gene Banks. His home town newspaper made a bet that he would not score a hundred points at Duke

Loved Dennard. He is on face book and is a true blue Dukie. Would not be surprised if he is not on some Duke boards. Enjoy his face book comments although it's been a while since he posted. He really took a lot of pressure off guys like Banks and Spanarkel.

Dennard committed to Duke three months or so before Banks, He was hardly an afterthought. Duke got Suddath after losing Tracy Jackson and Kelly Tripucka to Notre Dame.

topps I know where you are coming from pal. Kenny was a great player for the South Stokes Sauras, but was hardly as celebrated as Banks.Obviously he ended up being a very dependable guy for us at Duke! OFC
