There really is no reason for Baker not be scoring 8 points a game off the bench for us. We really could use his shooting. I think he has a good year.
Chris, if there is any justice Joey will have a rewarding senior season. He deserves it.
True, he's the guy we keep complaining about not existing any more. A 4 year guy. But he has to contribute. it's a confidence thing. He has the tools. He's a shooter.
I think it’s more of him buying into just being a specialist next season.
Another thing is finding him on the run out. A lot of times he would be wide open in the corners and no one even looked for him.
To win this years team has got to talk and keep everyone involved on both offense and defense. This is where Roach’s progression as a pg is vital.
What a great video. Enjoyed seeing it. Joey has taken his share of criticism since he came to Duke. It seems every year there is a player or two that some Duke fans enjoys being the whipping boy. Let me say this. We need a Joey Baker on every Duke team just like a Marshall Plumlee is needed every year. He knows his role. I see still some feeling he will transfer if we land Baldwin. Joey ain't going nowhere. Hoping he does have a solid senior year. I hope the coaching staff names him one of the captains. He is the definition of Duke brotherhood. OFC
Great post, Sky! I agree. Joey is a great kid who loves Duke. Too many people crap all over the young man because he's not JJ or Grayson. He is who he is and we should love him for the fight he brings every game.

I would love to see Joey develop into an Andre Dawkins type role. That potential spark off the bench when we are flat on offense and shots aren't falling. He comes in middle of the first half and goes 3 for 4 from deep and keeps us in the game. Still got to remember these players are 20(ish) year olds with a lot of pressure. This is the year we see the real Joey Baker!
While this is technically true, I believe that Joey has to actually decide to come back and use his Covid year. He may decide not to come back.
That said, I would love for Joey to come back for another year, it would make a lot of sense for him to get one more shot as getting better before trying to play professionally.
Just hope everyone appreciates Joey and give him the credit he deserves. As I've stated before Joey is as pure a Dukie that we've ever had. OFC
Or he could transfer like Goldwire. Might actually be a good move for him, but I would love to have him back.
