College football thread

In the least shocking news ever, the Tide rolled over Cincinnati. Not a good day for "the little guys should get a shot too" brigade, but Alabama does this to a lot of teams. Georgia leads Michigan 17-3. I thought Michigan was going to win, but SEC gonna SEC.

I remember Sam and K.C. playing together with Russell, Havelichek and those 60's Celtics. For the life of me I can't remember any of the others. I remember some of the became NBA coaches. OFC
Cousy, Heinsohn, Sanders and Siegfried were all very good players for the Celtics during those years. And some guy named John Thompson got to back up Russell a couple of years before he figured he’d be a better coach…

Wasn't Don Nelson on some of those teams? OFC

HBO Real Sports had a segment on Nelson. As mentioned, he's a successful marijuana farmer with long hair. He seems happy

I couldn't stand Nelson as a player. A whiner and flopper before they had floppers. Would have made a great Tarheel.

At the same time, I really like him as a coach. Go figure.

You think he was george karl's hero? karl was a whiner and a flopper. The greatest flopper I've ever seen. They call it the flopper because of karl. He had thst long hair that would flop as he slid and bounced down the court with that fake grimaced look on his face. And karl was of course a coach but didn't like him as a coach either. If there is a definition of a tar heel it is george karl. OFC

Karl was their OF, "Original Flopper."

They sure kept the managers busy mopping up the sweat. Just another great innovation of dean smith. "The Flop." OFC

Karl is a good coach, but he can be abrasive. I wanted him to replace Coach Guthridge. As I recall, the Milwaukee Bucks owner would not allow him to interview

Kurt and Brenda Warner are watching their son play WR for Kansas State against LSU. He's pretty good. I would love to know why he really married Brenda. She frightens me

Completely off topic but talking about South Carolina.

Anybody remember BJ Mckie that played for USC. I believe he is on Wakes staff now.

Anyway, SC was playing on TV and he was having a good game. A student had a great sign that they kept putting on TV. It said...Cocks love BJ.

Outside of the CFP games, bowl games are now just side shows...this game is a prime example - LSU is playing a WR at QB due to transfers and opt outs etc...a WR with just 4 catches on the season no less..

What's everyone's thoughts on Bama vs GA? It's so hard.... On one hand you have Saban and Bama smacking Georgia a few weeks back in the SEC championship. On the other hand, Georgia didn't have to win because regardless they knew they were going to the playoffs. I'm sure they still wanted to win but Bama had to win because if they didn't they would've had 2 losses and likely out of the playoffs. Bama doesn't have their leading WR Metchie. Saban hasn't lost to Kirby Smart and Georgia in their last 7 games.

I'm leaning Georgia but it's so hard to get against Saban. Georgia is 2.5 points favored

In rematches the team that lost the previous game seems to come out with a fire lit under their ass. Florida dominated FSU in 96. Alabama beat LSU 21.0 in rematch of 2011. Plus Alabama couldn’t play much better than in SEC title game; Uga can. But there are two huge reasons it’s hard to pick against Bama: huge advantages at coach and quarterback $$$wise I’m gonna sit this one out
It’s hard to pressure Young. So nimble and poised in pocket but ga secondary won’t hold up if they don’t

Agree with everything you said KD. It also seems like whenever I've seen Bama lose, which is few and far between, it's to a team that has a scrambling scrappy QB. Someone that can create once the protection breaks down. Man this is tough lol

True Bennett is pretty mobile but against a top D full of athletes like Bama and the Clemson game as well ( 3 pts on offense) it’s not gonna fly but Id love to be wrong. Bama and a lot of teams get away with physical corner play but when the play breaks down due to mobile qb the refs are gonna throw the flag if you hold when the receiver is running across the field or back to line of scrimmage. Young is great at these breakdown plays but is exceptional at pretty much everything. Bennett is just average but will hit big throws but not under duress Alabama off line has been very good their last two games but was awful against Auburn

There are key players missing for Bama from the SECCG...Mechie at WR and a couple of OL that are going to be less than 100%. Given that how the OL goes is how Bama goes that does not bode well. I think UGA brings more pressure than they did the first time because of these issues. If Bama schemes quick routes or RB screens, then this could help but overall I expect the UGA defense to be the defense they have showed all season vs the SECCG. On the other side...Bama needs to take away the run and the #19 TE....make someone else beat them....Bennett has been picked 5 times in the last 2 meetings so make him be the hero..not sure he can on his own. Overall, as mentioned its hard to beat someone twice....but also hard to beat Saban when he has time to prepare....TO's decide the game...i give the slight edge to UGA....however, Roll Tide as my daughter is a recent grad!

Alabama because Georgia always chokes when it counts.
(right after I post this Georgia goes ahead)
