Transferred and got to play half a season under Donovan. Hope things get better for him.

Meh. He made the decision he thought was best for him at the time. Hard to blame the kid. I hope he has a solid senior season.

I don't have any bad feelings toward Robocop either. I wish him the best.

I honestly think he's happy he transferred. OFC

It's kinda crazy how a lot of our transfers have been to the final four the year they had to sit out: Taylor King in 2009 with Villanova, Gbinije in 2013 with Syracuse, and Murphy last year with Florida. Just a semi-random thought I had. I don't have any negative feelings towards Murphy at all though, hopefully he has a solid senior campaign.

I know he made the best decision for him, but I really liked Alex and enjoyed rooting for him when he did get in a game. Hated to see him go, but I sure wish him the very best and hope he has a great season next year.
Go Duke!!

Pending defections due to Billy D leaving, Florida is absolutely loaded with top 100 guys, or guys who played more than 10 MPG last year on a medicore team

93 Florida Hill-4 Soph
84 Florida Robinson-6 Freshman
78 Florida Finney-Smith-1 Junior
69 Florida Francis Freshman
65 Florida Murphy-7 Junior
10 Florida Kurtz-9, NCAA
58 Florida Chiozza-10 Freshman
50 Florida Dickerson recruit
47 Florida Allen recruit

620 not a lot of super stars but cupbaord is certainly not bare for Billy's successor

Only UNC totals more with 628 with Duke just behind at 617

For example a "93" means Hill was rated 8th in his class, Diney Smith 23rd etc .

98 Duke Ingram recruit
90 Duke Jeter recruit
88 Duke Thornton recruit
78 Duke Kennard recruit
76 Duke Allen-8 Freshman
71 Duke Jefferson-6 Junior
62 Duke M. Jones-7 Soph
38 Duke Obi Soph
16 Duke Plumlee-9 Junior

617 but those top 4 may be a tad high since it is weak class

It has worked out that way for a lot of guys who transferred in to the program as well. Dahntay Jones's red shirt year was the 2001 championship. Curry was sitting his year out during the 2010 run, and Obi this year.

Did King last that long at Nova? He was suspended before the end of a season there, but I don't remember if it was that year or the next.

For some reason I was thinking that King transferred from Nova also and went West to play. I hated to see both King and Murph leave Duke. Some of these kids think they are instant stars and get sour if they are not instant go to guys. Its OK to be a 4 year player for K. Coach puts 4 year college players in the NBA also. Just stay and let him bring you along at the pace he sees fit. It didnt seem to hurt Miles and Mason that they wasnt pulling 25 minutes a game for their first couple of years. King and Murph both would have had outstanding senior years at Duke IMO. But I do wish both the very best in their future endeavors.

I more feel bad for the kid. From everything I read here, he bled Duke blue. I'm just sorry it didn't come together for him while in Durham. (Murphy that is)

I was disappointed that King made such a mess of his life, but seeing as he did -- and continued to for long after he left Duke -- I'm glad he was gone by then.

He sat out the 2008-2009 season as a transfer (Nova's Final Four Season), before playing for Nova for just one year during 2009-2010. I believe he got into troubled after the 2010 season for failing a drug test (not the first time). Later he transferred to Concordia University. He was a promising recruit - but he unfortunately came with a bit of baggage.

Just looked him up on twitter. He has 256 followers. He came in with Singler and Nolan who have close to 60K and 85K followers, respectively. Quite a difference.

Taylor was one of those kids who peaked as a sophomore in high school. Unfortunately he bought into the hype....and it kind of made him lazy. He was ranked #1 or #2 by every major recruiting service as a sophomore, but as was kind of the same with JP Tokoto the other kids in his class just kind of caught up. Taylor had the basketball skill but never developed into an athlete, while Tokoto was a freak athlete who never fully developed his skill.
