If this kid comes to Duke and plays with Tatum, it's gonna be all levels of HELL for our opponents. Giles has the potential to be bigger than Jabari, Winslow and Okafor. His court awareness is off the charts, he's so strong to the rim, soft touch on the mid range. I think He's my biggest "want" in quite a while for our program. If we land him , I really won't care who goes where for that seasons class. Got my fingers crossed big time.

When can we expect to know about Giles commitment decision?

I want to play devil's advocate for just a second. Whenever Duke has won a SHIP or gotten to the FF, they had a strong low post player(s). Someone that stays close to the rim, not necessarily a scorer, but a rebounder, block shots and scoring by committee(if you don't have a OAK). Harry Giles comes across as a Nerlens Noel with a little more offense, maybe a slight big version of Brandon Ingram. He wants to put the ball on the floor and pass. Maybe Oak spoiled me, I just want Harry to score, and dunk on someone.

Looks like Coach K has the Giles recruitment well in hand. Hopefully, we'll get him.

Giles reminds me of Garnett. The difference being there are way more players of that type nowadays. Not many Garnett's in the late 90s. Now there are a handful every cycle.

Nerlens Noels…seriously. Most experts are comparing him to Chris Webber. He will be dunking on a lot of people in Cameron in 2016-17.

Very true... its a lot sexier to put the ball on the floor and shoot a jumper at 6'10 in 2015, however, the 6'10 back to the basket player that can make high percentage shots, force a double team at all levels and go to the free throw line more than a 8 times a game will have a long career in basketball.

Chris Webber????? Chris Webber only wanted to make ugly faces and dunk. Harry wants to show the experts he can pass, dribble and shoot a jumper i.e Chase. Nerlens knew he could only block shots and lay up the ball.

And one of the main reasons I want him besides the obvious is that it will keep adding to Carolina's worst nightmare.

I love Giles game and want him as much as all of us but Okafor was as dominant a big man as we have ever had from the moment he played his first game he was a difference maker and a dominant force all year. That being said, hope we land Giles and he does the same thing. What a ride lately!!!

The worst thing for me is the wait. I like for them to go ahead and commit early. Before their senior year begins. That to me takes the pressure off the kid an allows the coahes to move on and start recruiting what they need. After senior year commits drive me crazy. OFC

Somebody compared Okafor to Giles? I referred to Giles possibly having as big if not bigger of an impact on the game, not that he was going to be our center banger.

Giles is not a center. Duke will have a role playing center or two on its roster when Giles is at Duke. Giles can face up or work in the post. He will not be chained to the post.

We'll have a couple "centers" playing with Giles so that convo can cease. Harry can worry about being Harry. That is "damn good".

You obviously never watched Chris Webber play.

The Webber comparisons are actually pretty good as the "type" of player he resembles.

Webber at 17? No. Harry is much more of a face up player at this age, Webber barely put the ball on the floor at 17. He wanted to posterize players with a slam.

Duke hadn't had a player like Giles in quite some time. His motor and ability around the rim on both ends will be fun to watch.

Justise was an absolute terror on the fast break for Duke. It'll be fun to see Giles run out on a fast break...if we get him.

Does Giles handle the ball like that? I only ask because on most occasions Justise WAS the fast break, haha.

Now you're arguing age? The premise of the original post on this subject was about how Giles models his game/has some similar attributes to Webber. It's not to say Giles is the same kind of player....he's nowhere close at this stage. But when looking at Giles game now, he plays in the mold of a Chris Webber. He's a deft passer, likes to face up his opponent, can play the mid-range while also being proficient with his back to the basket.

Now look, nobody here hated that cocky S#!t talking Michigan Fab Five team more than me, but, Chris Webber was awesome. That kid had handles, awesome passing and was vicious to the hoop. To compare Giles to his play style is no insult.

Correct, Nor is it all that inaccurate. Of course anyone who can put 2 and 2 together knows that not only is Giles not Webber, but he is also not a clone to his style. However like dukiejay said, some of their attributes are similar.

I didn't even think about Webber since everyone always said he's like a KG type of player. Webber is definitely a solid comparison though.

Precisely. I'm not saying he's as good as Webber or ever will be....only that there are aspects of his game that kind of mirror some of the things Webber did well. It's no different than UNC fans saying their new guy Bradley plays a little like Tim Duncan. Of course he's not Tim Duncan, but he may have some of the same traits and may model his game after Duncan.

I know people are scared to death and quick to judge when someone compares so-and-so to a great player. But please know, often times it isn't saying they are that player, it's just using said player as a gauge.

Yes I agree if we get him. I feel good about it though. Hope he makes up his mind before the season starts. OFC

Justise was just relentless on the fast break...not sure when or if we'll see anyone like that anytime soon. He could take it coast to coast so quickly, and effectively.

Still, Giles has so much length and athleticism that he's bound to be a force on a fast break if he catches the ball anywhere within 15 or 20 feet of the basket (one dribble and a dunk). I think he handles the ball pretty good for a player his size, but all I've seen are the mix tapes, and the competition isn't always the best. Even if he can't take the ball from one end to the other his presence on the fast break will be beneficial to everyone else.

One thing to remember about Justice is that he absolutely blew basically everybody's expectations out of the water. Besides maybe Show who was always big time on Justice I'm not sure anybody on here was expecting half of the Winslow we got in his first year. Kid just got it and improved everyday.... To me that's completey rare and just unpredictable. Kid was straight beast mode full time. Hard to predict what ya may get until they are competing on a much more level playing field.

Show was hardly alone in his thoughts on Winslow.
