Hahahaha, it's a petty thing imo,

Oh yeah. It's incredibly petty. But that's what makes it so funny. Bradley has taken "petty" to new heights (lows?) in his defense of unx and his demonization of Mary. To see him get all flustered an' bent outta shape when his hypocrisy is thrown back in his face...comedy gold.

In all seriousness , I just noticed something. Not only has he critiqued Jay and Mary , he's made some pointed comments about the faculty at unx. He's pizzed because they aren't more vocal. THAT is the LAST thing he ( or unx ) wants. Ever notice that no one backs him up other than the tarhole nation and tptb at unx who are concerned with image , spin and banners? No one. Mary has Jay , Madeline Levine , Hodding Carter and "more than 30 retired faculty" backing her and those are just the ones that immediately come to mind. Have any academics presently employed at unx supported him or his idiotic opinions? Seriously. I don't recall any. That , in and of itself , speaks volumes and here's his dumb arse poking the lion.

Re: Bradley Bethel caught Plagiarizing Prof Jay Smith

Meanwhile the Wainstein preliminary report is being reviewed prior to official release. Based on what I am hearing it will not be a whitewash but will be a data base of facts without recommendations for action. It will contain "options for actions". Bottom line, UNC is going to have to make decisions with the knowledge that some known provable facts are out there that they will not like being exposed. The probability of exposure will be measured against the cost of coming clean...

It will be interesting seeing how Beth Bradley responds...

Re: Bradley Bethel caught Plagiarizing Prof Jay Smith

Point I was told several weeks ago that when the report is released people will be losing jobs. Was not told who or when but just that people will be exposed and fired for complicity in the scheme.

I have to say I've enjoyed Bethel getting a little payback!

And you're right, DevilDJ, I don't remember a single member of UNC academia supporting Bradley...and yes, that does say a lot.

Any way for the mods to consolidate the threads? IMO , it's unrealistic to ignore what unx has done and is doing. Their chicanery has had a direct effect on not only college sports in general but the rivalry with Duke in particular. My 2 cents. Anyway , having just one thread might make it more palatable to some posters.

Someone must want to read these threads, DevilDJ, it has over 10,000 hits on it. There are so many threads about UNC because they've stepped into so much crap over the last while. At the moment, there is not that much Duke basketball related stuff going on...and if there is then some of the people who complain about these threads should be posting it.
It seems to me it's better to have threads about Tar Heels than to have no threads at all.

I'm guilty as charged for making threads poking fun at the Heels (I enjoy it and think others do too), but if the mods want it to stop...just tell me. And if the posters on here want it to stop then let me know also. I'm willing to abide by the majority.

You're right. Over 10,000 hits here and over 3000 in the hazing thread.

It seems Carolina just breeds athletes and administration with a lack of respect and zero-to-no common sense.... Yesterday, ex-carolina player, Danny Green, found himself in trouble after managing to offend just about everyone who saw his facebook. Not going to copy what he wrote, but the gist was that the holocaust was a joking matter (still pretty easy to find online).

As Charles Barkley would say, "C'mon Man!" (notice, Bradley Bethel, how easy it is to give credit when using someone else's phrase)

If the mods make you stop (which I do not think will happen), it will be a grave mistake. UNC is Duke's rival, pure and simple. Do we pile a lot on them, sure we do. But that is just the nature of the beast. Folks don't want to read anymore posts about the Scar Heels, they just need to refrain from reading. Keep it up OADD! OFC

Thanks for the encouragement, Heyman...you know it doesn't take much for me!!!

I think everything is going to be fine...everyone is just ready for a little Duke basketball. It won't be long now. And of course when Duke basketball springs back to action, we'll have some real stuff to make fun of the Heels, Heyman! It's going to be the season of the Blue Devil (s)!

Oh, I was going to start a thread about you early Thursday morning (but I got too busy with doing my 'chores'). Figured you may be on vacation, but it seemed like about 2 weeks (or more) since your last post...so I was getting a little worried. Glad to see post again my friend.

So 65 or so pages of search warrants related to the unc Agent investigation were just unsealed...working to get them online.

Blowing through - it's basically a detailed account of Watson/Jones/Barley trying to illegally induce a number of unc players. Known stuff.

Mark Armstrong @ArmstrongABC11

Also some detailing of the relationship between Watson, Murray Pool and former SCar/Garner player Chris Culliver. Again, known.

In any case - it's specifics of the investigation. As I said, once our web folks scan it for sensitive info like SSN, we'll post it.

NEW SEARCH WARRANTS RELEASED IN unc SPORTS AGENT INVESTIGATION

New search warrants released Friday show how Georgia-based sports agent Terry Watson allegedly funneled money and gifts to unc football players in an attempt to get them to sign with him.

Click here to read the warrants (.pdf)

North carolina law requires agents to register with the Secretary of State's office and prohibits offering gifts to entice athletes to sign representation contracts.

Watson was charged last year with 13 counts of athlete-agent inducement and one count of obstruction of justice. Athlete-agent inducement is a Class I felony that carries a maximum sentence of 15 months in prison. Violations could also carry civil penalties of up to $25,000.

Investigators with the North carolina Secretary of State's allege Watson contacted former unc football players before he was officially registered as an agent in North carolina back in 2010 - giving them gifts and providing hotel rooms for them in Miami, Florida.

Search warrants allege he funneled $18,200 to former unc player Greg Little in payments ranging from $5,000 to $2,200 and gave player Marvin Austin gifts in addition to $2,000 in cash.

The warrants how Watson's associates sent the cash in FedEx packages and names some of the people allegedly involved.

In all, investigators allege Watson contacted at least 5 players nearly 400 times. Thirty nine of those contacts are considered illegal.

Austin and Little were kicked off the unc football team after an NCAA investigation found they had accepted thousands of dollars in trips and gifts from agents.

Due to football program investigations, 13 players sat out the 2010 season opener against LSU, with six players sitting out the entire season. Three of those were either dismissed from the team or declared "permanently ineligible" by the NCAA.

Where to start with the Tar Heels? There's the hazing, there's the academic literacy problem, and there's the allegations of racial discrimination that came out of the investigation into the academic literacy concerns, but whatever avenue you decide to go down, North Carolina doesn't come out of it looking good at all.

unc-Chapel Hill faculty speak out on athletics issues

A unc-Chapel Hill faculty member voiced concern at an athletics-focused forum Wednesday about the move to grant more decision-making autonomy to the NCAA "Big Five" athletics conferences.

The forum was the first of two public listening sessions by the University of North carolina at Chapel Hill Faculty Athletics Committee this fall to allow faculty and others in the university community to voice opinions on athletics issues.

At the first meeting Wednesday, Jay Smith, a history professor, voiced concerns about whether the decision to give more autonomy to the Big Five could result in more benefits for student-athletes that could make them "regarded more like employees." And he asked if that could result athletic coaches and others having more "leverage" over athletes.

"Will this enable them to ask more of their time and effort?" Smith said. "That is one concern. Maybe not, maybe not, if the proper safeguards are put in place."

Smith is co-author with Mary Willingham of "The unc Scandal, the Education of Athletes, and the Future of Big-Time College Sports." Willingham is the former unc-Chapel Hill learning specialist whose assertions of low literacy levels among athletes attracted national attention and have led to her departure from the university, which she has accused in court documents of retaliation.

The decision by the NCAA Division I Board of Directors gave autonomy to the five "highest resourced" conferences, including the Atlantic Coast Conference, to make rules on certain topics including meals and financial aid without the other division schools, according to an NCAA.org article by Michelle Brutlag Hosick. The report said that much of the new model would take effect next year.

Smith also had concerns about the level of faculty input into the decision to grant more autonomy to the five conferences.

"We were never consulted and it has never been teased out for us, for our institutions, what the implications for this would be," he said.

In an email, NCAA spokeswoman Stacey Osburn said that generally, the NCAA membership gathered input throughout the process from sources including faculty, university presidents, athletic directors and conference commissioners. Feedback was gathered through surveys, campus visits, panel discussions with faculty input, and a session at its annual convention open to all members, the email said.

Mike Bowen, an instructor at the University of South Florida College of Business and the chair of a committee for the Coalition on Intercollegiate Athletics, a group seeks to represent faculty on intercollegiate sports issues, said his group and two faculty athletic representative groups were allowed to give input into the decision. He said faculty "had their say; they just weren't listened to." His group opposed the autonomy decision.

"We're concerned about the outcomes that autonomy that will have, particularly on schools who are not in the big five and trying to keep up," he said.

Joy Renner, Faculty Athletics Committee chair and a clinical associate professor and director of the radiologic science division at the unc-Chapel Hill School of Medicine, said faculty got an introduction to the change at a previous meeting, but she said "I think all of us are still teasing out all of what that is."

Later in the discussion, Rudi Colloredo-Mansfeld, a professor and chair of the anthropology department, described a trend of decisions to increase the burden on student-athletes, and he said he believes that will continue.

"And I feel we are not in a situation where our response is to simply defend the possibility of a normal student career," he said. "That is impossible for an athlete."

Colloredo-Mansfeld said the school's newly announced Complete carolina program "is a great model." The program, which was formally announced this year, allows student-athletes who left the school in good academic standing to return to complete their degrees with their financial aid benefits intact.

"That is saying you're coming to a sports academy in which your life is about sports and you will have an opportunity to take some classes and later on, we will complete your education," he said of the Complete carolina program and another example. "To me, that's a much more accurate response to the world we are creating than to say 'we're going to protect their time.'"

Renner said the committee will hold the forums each semester. The next session will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. She said they're looking for "open, honest sharing of perspectives" for "moving us forward as carolina continues to refine the processes, policies and support for our students participating in athletic teams on behalf of the university."

Renner said the committee has taken a more "intrusive and intentional approach" in the past two years as a result of revelations about "some courses on campus." Out of the NCAA investigation into the football program that started in 2010, suspect courses were identified in the department now named the unc Department of African, African-American, and Diaspora Studies.

Any chance this "restructuring" will result in what can ( and can't! ) be obtained via FOI requests....?

Parking division moves to Auxiliary Services

As part of a process of restructuring University departments, the Department of Public Safety will no longer oversee the Transportation and Parking Services divisions.

Both divisions are now a part of unc Auxiliary Services.

Matt Fajack, vice chancellor for finance and administration, said the divisions were transferred to Auxiliary Services because of the department's expertise in budgetary planning.

He said this change is due to a larger restructuring of departments that he and other vice chancellors started in June.

He said Auxiliary Services is better suited to manage parking because it is more equipped to deal with its budget, which is managed internally.

Fajack said DPS provides safety services to campus and is funded through the state, while the Parking and Transportation divisions receive revenue from customers by way of parking fees and passes.

"Parking isn't really a safety issue," Fajack said. "Auxiliary has the infrastructure to manage a break-even operation."

Fajack said Parking Services will still be responsible for its budget and he doesn't think the separation will have a big impact on finances in the future.

"(It is) a change from safety-focused management to those who are more experienced in managing their own budgets ... a change of focus from one management expertise to another," Fajack said.

DPS spokesman Randy Young said DPS will still be in charge of issuing parking tickets.

Fajack said the new night-parking policy has nothing to do with the separation of the departments.

He said the next big step in the departmental reorganization will be a change in leadership of some departments, but there will be no big changes to the departments' services.

Chris Payne, associate vice chancellor for student affairs, is the vice chairman for the Advisory Committee on Transportation. He does not know if he will remain in that position or how the restructuring will affect the committee.

"I haven't heard if there is going to be any change," Payne said. "I've actually been waiting for some official announcement."

Sophomore Sam Pranikoff, an undergraduate representative on the Advisory Committee on Transportation, said he thinks the committee won't change.

Pranikoff said he is excited to work with both departments and will work to keep fees at a minimum.

He said, as far as parking services are concerned, students will not see any difference.

"We will be working diligently with safety and security and with transportation to keep student fees as low as possible," he said.

Butch Davis: unc should be a top-10 program

The final poll of the 1998 season - that was the last time North carolina football was ranked in the AP top 10. Former head coach Butch Davis, who led the Tar Heels out onto the field as a ranked team 11 times in his four-year coaching stint from 2007-10, said there is no reason unc shouldn't see the top 10 more often.

"I felt like it was an institution that had all the potential to be a top-10, top-5 football program in the country," Davis said Thursday while joining Adam and Joe on 99.9 The Fan ESPN Radio. "We felt like we were headed in that direction and I actually thought we were going to play for the national championship in 2010, that we had accumulated enough athletes."

unc fell very, very short of that 2010 national championship game despite beating Clemson and Florida State during the regular season. As Davis put it, the season was "derailed."

Davis backed his reasoning for the top-10 assertion, though, saying, "There was immediate access to football players up and down the east coast. You could certainly recruit players from the state of North carolina -- there are probably 15-20 legitimate big-time, Division I football players in the state each year."

Since 1937, unc has played 60 games as a top 10 ranked team, including one game as the No. 1 team in the nation. On Oct. 16, 1948, No. 1 unc beat NC State 14-0 but still fell back to No. 3 the following week.

So what is unc's biggest problem? Davis said it's a big mystery, but ultimately it comes down to support and consistency.

"You have to make (football) a priority," Davis said. "In 2008, 09 and 10, we were pretty close to sellout crowds, hence the stadium enhancement. Obviously, like any other program, there has to be some consistency, there has to be some stability, it has to be made important. If it isn't made important then certainly it won't be."

Davis continued on to say that the ACC isn't necessarily a basketball-first conference like many fans in the Triangle assert. Schools like Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Florida State and Miami - where Davis coached for six season - are all football-first schools.

As far as returning to coaching, Davis, who currently works as a studio analyst for ESPN, said he would be open to it if the right opportunity came along. Where that is exactly, he didn't tip his hand.

"You would like to have an opportunity at a place where the kids will get a great education. You would like to be in a place where football is important. You would like to get an opportunity to coach at a place that has reasonable access to athletes," he said. "There are a variety of different things you turn over in your mind as to what might be the right place."

UNC Scandal Investigation "Almost" Over

Something that could be classified as a "never-ending" nightmare for the University of North Carolina, could be coming to a close. Academic fraud seems to be something that unc just can't get fully away from, as it keeps coming up again and again. It first took place in 2011, but for some strange reason the case ended rather abruptly, and no penalties were passed down from the NCAA. Can't run forever UNC, as the investigation was re-opened in June of this year.

The NCAA said they were investigating things such as no-show classes, made up grades etc. For those wondering why the case was being brought back up, here is why: there were people standing in line ready to spill their hearts out about what has been going in Chapel Hill. Even former basketball standout Rashad McCants got in line to take a shot at UNC, as he basically told the world he had a phony degree from UNC.

Late this September, it had been announced that the investigations were nearing a close. No word on whether any penalties will be dished out to the University, but one could only imagine that this time there will be. UNC faithful will claim that every school does it, not just them. I would agree to a certain extent, as I feel unc is definitely not the only school pulling academic fraud, but UNC is a repeat offender, and sometimes it take a harsh punishment in order for people to learn their lesson. At this point, it only logical that UNC will receive some type of penalty, and what that will be is still up in the air. Considering that both Mens basketball and football were involved, expect to see things like limited number of scholarships, certain instructors, coaches getting put on probation (or fired).

Whatever happens in the end, hopefully UNC has learned it's lesson (doubtful) because if they haven't the next time could end in serious punishments, something I don't think unc fans could handle.

Depending on how this unfolds , SU fans just might be the next large group to join the "ABC'ers." ONE player? Academics? "Major and wide-ranging?" 2010-2012? unx is the very definition of "major and wide-ranging" given the amount of people and decades involved and the NCAA has done exactly "jack" and "squat" to that cesspool.

Syracuse officials to attend NCAA hearing on possible violations

A source told CBSSports.com then the alleged violations were "major and wide-ranging," and they included possible issues with Fab Melo's academic record. Melo, a 7-foot center, played for the Orange from 2010 to 2012.[/B]

Syracuse is not unc. And, they will not be treated the same. Syracuse will be/has been told, in no uncertain terms, that they are never to bring unc up as a discussion in all of this.

Jacobs: College sports whistle-blowers face tough road

Unfortunately, neither are the lengths - or depths - to which some fans will go to express their displeasure when whistle-blowers reveal where favorite schools fall short.

The litany of abuse is discouragingly similar for Mary Willingham in Chapel Hill today as it was for Linda Bensel-Meyers at the University of Tennessee around 2000 and the late Jan Kemp at the University of Georgia in the early 1980s: Death threats. Harassing emails and phone calls. Menace directed at family members. Verbal assaults in public places.

unc professors speak on Wainstein report expectations

unc-Chapel Hill faculty members are in a "holding pattern" while waiting on the results of an independent investigation into academic irregularities in one department, one professor said this week.

Attorney Kenneth Wainstein, a former federal prosecutor, was hired to investigate after a series of reviews found academic irregularities -- including unauthorized grade changes -- in what's now called the Department of African, African-American and Diaspora Studies. The findings arose out of a 2010 NCAA investigation into the school football program. His report is expected this fall.

According to an emailed statement from the university, officials believe Wainstein has interviewed hundreds of individuals, including former faculty, athletics staff, academic advisors and counselors, administrators and students. The statement said he's collected and searched millions of emails and analyzed records, including transcripts, of students going back to the 1980s.

"carolina believes this independent and thorough investigation is the only way to truly understand and address what went wrong," the statement said. "We have a responsibility to the carolina community to ensure we get this right and are committed to transparently sharing the findings with the public."

The university plans to use the findings in the report to "further strengthen processes and policies in-place to ensure nothing like this happens again," the statement said.

In response to questions about faculty expectations for the report, Layna Mosley, a political science professor at unc-Chapel Hill, said the idea is that Wainstein may have had "better access" than previous investigators. That may allow for a more complete picture of what happened.

She spoke Wednesday after a public listening session held by the Faculty Athletics Committee, of which she is a member.

"None of us have seen it," she said of the forthcoming report.

Andrew Perrin, a sociology professor, committee member and member of a working group on school athletics policy, said he thinks there are "lots of questions" about how far the academic misconduct went and to what it extent it was driven by athletics or athletics academic support officials, as opposed to academic leaders.

"I sure hope we don't find that the misconduct went further than sheer numbers than we already know," he said. "I think the possibilities are almost endless. By design, none of us on the university side know what they're doing until they release their report."

He said he believes there are two faculty camps, split between a "significant subset of the faculty who remain pretty upset about the situation" and another group that is concerned and looking for closure.

He said he has heard many colleagues say that what they most want to do is " is move on in an honorable way."

Jay Smith, a history professor, said after the meeting that he's hoping the inquiry explores the origins of the scandal, the motives of people involved, to what extent athletic officials were involved and who may have benefited.

Smith is working on the book "Cheated: The unc Scandal, the Education of Athletes, the Future of Big-Time College Sports" with Mary Willingham. She is the former athletics learning specialist who spoke out on her findings of low-literacy levels among a segment of college football and basketball athletes. She left the university and has sued for alleged retaliation. The book is expected to be published in March, Smith said.

"I think historians, as a rule, think it's harder to move (into) the future if you don't know where you've been in the past," he said. "Everyone at the university ought to have an interest in how it all started."

Rudi Colloredo-Mansfeld, a professor and chair of anthropology, said after the meeting that much of the faculty are leaving the issues to established committees and administration. They're in a "holding pattern" waiting on the Wainstein report.

Barbara Osborne, an associate professor in the unc-Chapel Hill Department of Exercise and Sport Science, said Thursday she believes faculty members are tired of the issue.

"The media in general is more focused on perpetuating the … accusations of the story than really reporting what unc has done to fix things to make things better, or fix things that are wrong," she said in a telephone interview. "I think the faculty is really sort of tired of it because we have invested tremendous time, manpower and resources in examining all of those things."

But she also said she believes there's curiosity about the Wainstein report. She said it might uncover new information that will shed some light on "the how" of the unraveling.

"But it's also entirely possible that all he's going to do is show that everything that was done in past investigations and past reports is all there is to it," she said. "And if that's the case, then I do think that this is going to be something that never ends. Because the naysayers are going to say that he's just part of the cover-up too, instead of saying 'wow, unc has done everything that a human being could do to look at this issue and fix it, and we're done.'"

Joy Renner, committee chair and a clinical associate professor and director of the radiologic science division at the unc-Chapel Hill School of Medicine, said she believes faculty care "very deeply."

"We were not the best that we could be based on previous reports and investigations," she said in an email. "This report may be very informative to our community regarding what went wrong and when so that we can do what we do best - analyze the facts and determine the best course of action to right the wrongs and enhance what was already right."

Perrin , Osborne and Renner are fanboys ( and girls. )

#WhitewashWednesday...

unc academic fraud report to be released Wednesday

A highly-anticipated report into the long standing academic fraud at unc-Chapel Hill is scheduled to be released Wednesday at a special meeting of unc officials, the university said Monday.

A meeting notice that appeared on unc-CH's website today said attorney Kenneth Wainstein would meet with the university's board of trustees and the unc Board of Governors at 10:30 a.m. in the Kenan Center.

"Some portions of the meeting will take place in closed session, pursuant to the North carolina Open Meetings Law," the notice said. "Following the special meeting, Mr. Wainstein will publicly present his findings during a press conference."

The notice also said that unc-CH Chancellor Carol Folt and unc system President Tom Ross will answer questions at the conference. Folt will later discuss the report with students, staff and faculty at a "town hall" meeting at 5 p.m. in Room G200 of the Genome Sciences Building.

"The last few years have been difficult for our community," Folt said in an announcement of the town hall meeting. "I believe this report will allow us to have a complete picture of what happened at carolina and build on the numerous reforms we have already put in place."

The report is the result of eight months of interviews and records analysis by a group of attorneys led by Wainstein, a former top U.S. Justice Department official now in private practice in Washington. It is the university's third effort at getting to the bottom of a scandal that stretches back into the 1990s and involves scores of lecture-style classes that never met. Instead, students were typically told to write papers and turn them in at the end. The grades were often high.

Athlete enrollments in the classes were disproportionately high, and other evidence shows some athletes each took several classes. But the two prior investigations have said the fraud was not an athletic scandal because nonathletes were also in the classes and received the same high grades.

In June, Wainstein told the unc Board of Governors his investigation by then had already interviewed more than 80 people and had gathered up more than 1.5 million documents for review. He said his probe is looking at academic records that reach back into the 1980s.

So far, the fraud has been blamed on two people, Julius Nyang'oro, the former chairman of unc-CH's African and Afro-American Studies Department, and his former longtime department manager, Deborah Crowder. Nyang'oro was forced to retire in 2012, while Crowder retired in 2009. Both are cooperating with Wainstein's investigation.

unc-CH is paying for the investigation from sources other than taxpayer funds. Wainstein said his investigation is not being shared with university or unc system officials until it is completed.

The report is being released as the NCAA is taking a second look at the academic fraud case. It had said two years ago the fraud had not triggered any violations of NCAA policies.

Good Lord. Look , unx HAS this report already. Crafting spin/assigning guilt (if any) as we speak. I like how Kenny Whitewash claims his findings won't be "shared with university or unc system officials until it is completed" while the cesspool talks about a "closed session/special meeting" PRIOR to the report's public release. #carolinaway...claim transparency yet goin' over the damn thing BEFORE anyone else gets a look. Gawd , what an ish-hole.

Some smarmy beach-arse swipes at Dan Kane and State fans too. What a tool...

UNC Announces Wainstein Report Will Be Released

Inside Carolina had the heads up on this earlier in the morning.

Now UNC has officially confirmed that details of Kenneth Wainstein's investigation into academic irregularities at UNC will be released on Wednesday. As you may recall, Wainstein is a former Department of Justice lawyer now in private practice brought in to do one last, exhaustive, leave-no-stone-unturned probe into all that has troubled UNC these past four years.

The University of North Carolina Board of Governors and the UNC Board of Trustees will meet in a joint sessions to receive the findings. At 1:00 PM, UNC will hold a press conference for Wainstein to explain himself to Dan Kane answer questions from the media. Chancellor Carol Folt and UNC system president Tom Ross will also be available. The press conference will stream live at the Carolina Commitment website.

To this point, there have been very few details to what the report may hold. In late June, the NCAA announced it would re-open its investigation into UNC athletics on the basis of new sources of information made available by the Wainstein probe. The NCAA is presently conducting its own review but will rely on the Wainstein findings. In fact, Wainstein has been keeping the NCAA apprised during the course of his investigation.

The conventional thinking here is the report will contain some additional embarrassing details which will create a PR headache or two. However, some massive eligibility conspiracy involving the AFAM and athletic department probably won't be a part of the findings. The likely conclusion will be that department head Julius Nyang'oro and administrative assistant Deborah Crowder were engaged in a scheme to bolster the enrollments for their department and various groups, including athletes, took advantage of the easy classes.

Then again, Wainstein could also blow the lid off the whole UNC/Swofford/Stonecutter/Illuminati Conspiracy through which the Tar Heels have won championships and oppressed their lupine brothers in Raleigh.

Since when do "conventional thinking" and the tarhole nation have anything to do with each other? And if the results AREN'T already known , why the confident , snotty , frat-boy predictions as to the findings?
