Story on Trevor Keels/final scholarship

Arkansas gets Ricky Council, who averaged 12 and 5 for Wichita State as a soph. Their 5th transfer to go along with the number 2 recruiting class.

Arkansas ( and I’ve said it before) is throwing around that Walmart and Sam’s money. NIL is working in their favor but their is only so many balls to go around . Aren’t they about out of scholarships now ? They must only have two players returning .

Why do you say Duke is not concerned about NIL? From what I have read recently, Duke has not yet finalized its NIL program for its players. Who knows, the final Duke policy may be better and certainly more legal than the Cheats'.
To me, exercising care and utilizing resources to their fullest in order to develop the best and most effective NIL program does not constitute foot-dragging. Besides, what incentive would Duke have to delay things, other than to ensure that what they have is the best for the kids and the school.

To me we could move forward "exercising care and utilizing resources" at a quicker pace. I am not BLAMING anyone. The university was transitioning a Power 5 school's most major head coaching positions in the past year. Still it's not like we didn't know we were headed toward NIL approval.

I don't ultimately see things changing much at Duke. This may in the long run hurt us in the hunt for championships, but keep Dr. Price and most of the faculty happy.

OFC

Good news; Jeff Goodman reporting that AJ Green is considering Iowa State and Duke.
Bad news: he thinks Green will pick Iowa Stae where his father coaches. Still, we have a shot.
(Actually Kevin Sweeney tweeted this)

Green may know he's not picking Duke, but LISTING Duke as a finalist raises his profile.Wish we could land him. Wonder if this means Keels is gone??

I don't think it means Keels is gone necessarily. It could mean he is waiting on Keels to make a decision and Duke reached out to him. Regardless ISU seems to be the favorite. Interesting that the scouting report was that Green is a decent defender. Green would be a heck of a consolation prize if we lost Trevor.

Green would be a huge addition IMO... OFC

Imo, if Green is down to Duke and Iowa St, at this moment and knowing The Keels situation, I believe he will end up at Duke, unless Keels does return... his father coaches there, he would have already committed to them if he wanted to play for his father... to me, that seems like he wants to be a blue devil. Just holding out for Keels decision

Or he’s deciding on staying in the draft and Iowa State.

If Keels moves on, landing Green would announce that Jon is a major player in the transfer market. That would be big. I haven't seen Green on any mock drafts so I doubt he stays in. Playing at a small school feedback on what he needs to work on is very important.

Chris, certainly I think playing around our players on the floor and the best competition is only a boost to Green. Despite the lean to Iowa St, I would say NEVER count out Scheyer. Having Jai Lucas on board only raises our chances. OFC

But at Iowa St he would be the focus of the offense and premier player. His dad being there only helps . Listing two schools just means IMO , who’s giving out the most NIL money for his services .

Smash he looks like a pretty good athlete doesn't he? I am afraid he's ISU bound, but at least Scheyer has a shot! OFC
He’s listed on some sites as a pg and others as a 6’4” sg . So in reality is he simply a combo? Wonder if his dad is smarter then Baldwin’s?

Reality- we won’t get keels or green. Sucks but it is what it is
I'm trying not to go down this road of thought haha. But the thought has occurred to me.
DBR is reporting that Keels will not participate in 5 on 5 drills at the NBA combine, which most first rounders elect not to do. Not sure if it means anything or not.

The fact that he isn’t doing 5 on 5 usually means he has a first round promise.

I just watched some AJ Green footage. If you are looking for a comp it's JJ Redick. Now don't kill me, I'm not saying he is as good as JJ, he's not. But that type of player. Has decent size, he looks about 6-3. Not a pure point but can handle. Can put it on the floor but not super quick. Takes a lot of 3 point shots. So maybe a poor man's JJ; but he's still pretty good. My only concern is he seems like a high volume shooter; he has no problem bringing the ball up and shooting a 3. But Jon could work on that.

I would really like Trevor back. I think he could have a great sophomore year, and I liked his attitude when he went to the bench (still played hard). But realistically we all know it's a long shot that he returns. Especially if it's true he chose Duke over Nova because of the exposure to go OAD.

Based on that interview Jon seems to recognize the need for some experience. If Keels leaves we should add another guard. Question is will it be a Green level guard or someone like Catchings?
Keels is 27 on ESPN's latest mock draft.
